Jungle.jpg

It’s dark, the sound of rushing water and the hum of an engine the only thing piercing the blackness. Finally there’s a light up ahead, behind wall of falling water. You see it splash onto the metal of the ships deck and fall off the sides of the vessel, then water is soaking the visor of your suit.

The Green Initiative barge exits the cavern from behind the waterfall and bursts into the sunlight deep in Uruguay. The skies in this region had long since been denied to even stealth dropships, and so travel by river was the only means to get the team here.

You can’t feel it but you know its sunny, its warm, and its humid and the sound of jungle and waterfall reverberates outside your suit. The massive GI barge floats down the river, the steep stony walls of a gorge on either side hiding it from prying eyes, as you sit in your suit among other gathered suits of various sizes from a simple second skin all the way up to a massive fortress size. Around the edges of the deck, men in dark green camo suits with sniper rifles and anti-tank weapons, bearing stone cold grimaces coated in green face paint, eyes trained on the gorge above.

You hear a distinctily Brazilian voice on the shortwave radio, either from your own suit or from someone who has it.
“Drop off point ETA in 5 minutes. This is as far as the river will let us take you. We’re dropping you off behind a mountain you’ll need to cross, then its nothing but rainforest until you hit the infestation, that should give you some cover from enemy sensors.
Stay under the tree cover, it’s your safest place not to be detected by hostile sensors. Tread softly, remember there are two enemies swarming the jungle.

There’s some kind of jamming frequency going on interfering with map equipment and long range communications. We no longer have accurate maps of the area, but we’ll try to send them to you as soon as we can. There’s a good chance you’ll be cut off from satellite relays and command.

Does anyone have any final questions?”

Mission will begin in 30 minutes pending on who does or doesn't show up. Please post your builds. I'd prefer your full build posted in thread as opposed to a link, but you can link it as well

Feel free to join the IRC! I might be here sometimes or I might be AFK, but it allows for OOC type inquiry.

It has been a long time since i"ve played or hosted, so I hope you don't mind if some of us will be relearning the rules together.

Hazard Pay crossed all four of his arms over his chest, yellow-black suit standing out in the rolling green of the jungle.

"You're quiet" Remarked his A.I, to which the man simply nodded -- not even acknowledging her verbally as he looked around at the other pilots on the GI Barge. He was a sight for sure, and stood out like a sore thumb.

"Systems green, plasma tubes clear. Readiness is 98%." Added Kali in her monotone voice. Hazard only nodded again.

"Pilot" the voice says sternly "If they're desperate enough to send you in without a proper briefing then listen up because this may be the last time you hear this.

Force is no longer an option in dealing with the infestation that is now spreading throughout the entire state of Uruguay. TA forces and their Reddit Allies are surrounding the area and we have evidence that they have a connection and knowledge about the infestation that we don't.

Your objective is to do whatever is necessary to obtain whatever they know about the infestation, we need to figure out a way to deal with this infestation and get it back under control. Time is of the essence."

". . .perhaps you don't understand.

We've applied the absolute amount of force in dealing with the infestation.

Get this into your head straight. The shit you'll be dealing with out there survived nuclear weapons to the face, and is going toe to toe with massive enemy formations that satellite readings indicate dwarf our own by several factors.

You do whatever is necessary to survive and get the info. No holds barred. There's no shortage on infestation to be purged."

"Oh I'm willing to bet there will be killing. What you need to realize though is that we're at war. War is controled violence, for a purpose. Micheal turns towards SK, his face deadpan "More like what didn't happen. This isn't the first time we deployed to this country. Last time we did, it was to the capital. Our orders were to secure a group of scientists who'd sent out an SOS."

He looks at the ground, hands on his hips
"But, when we got here... the entire place was infested by these... things. Biosuits, but not normal ones. Mutants, abominations. It's... hard to explain, but they were the first signs of what's happened here. We were forced to evacuate, the scientists were long dead and the capital and countryside was being swarmed by a never-ending wave of the things."
>>
>>919827
"Be like a rock..." Ryman went silent again for a bit. "PE sounds awful."
>>
"But while we're here, before we start unloading our cannons on whaetver abominations are agead, how about we take in this... absolutely BEAUTIFUL scenery! Man, where I come from, shit like this is a treat. Doesn't beat the mountains of Asia though. Nothing does, actually"

He grumbles as he tries to remember.

"Back in Chicago, TA Bombers were dropping zombies. there were tentacles in the sewers. This... virus, it's too much for anyone to handle alone. Just, watch yourselves out there, and never go alone."

The quiet yellow-and-black suit just watched, he said nothing. It was like Hazard Pay wasn't even listening, or perhaps he was daydreaming. Whatever the case, he only dimly picked up the conversation.

"Your bpm is accelerating again." Suddenly interjected Kali, snapping Hazard out of whatever strange exercise he was doing. The man grunted, and stopped for a moment.

"That's better." Decided the A.I. once his unstable heart had returned to normal levels "I advise against adjusting the throat while we're in the field."
>>
The Barge slows down as you approach the drop off point, the river bank just below the mountain, standing tall before you and covered in foliage.

“This is it.

You’ll be able to see the infestation and any large enemy movements just beyond that mountain. We have no intel on the area beyond that there are a lot of them and they are everywhere. Remember, you’ve got to do whatever it takes to get some enemy intel.

There might not be any emergency medevac or extraction if your communications are cut off. Keep that in mind and stay alive.
Good luck and godspeed.”

As always, in the ancient tradition, the very first thing the team does is a flurry of scans and checks. It's always safe to poke the ground for any landmines you might be stepping on when hopping off the boat.

>>919995
>>919996
>>920006
>>920039
Various independant scans are done by the pilots, with mixed effect. By far the mountain and forest proves as equally good at hiding them as it does at interefering with our own scans and sensors.

The team as a whole moves foward and up and over into the mountain to get a better signal as well as a view, luckily the forest is absolutely proven to be clear of any danger thanks to their combined sensor scans. The various short ranged scans done by the pilots are amplified by the Tank Fortress' Commander boost.

The only danger that was found were some old land mines but these aren't even from the Suit Wars, theyre old and likely from the Cold War. Still, a lucky hit from them might have done a number on someone's leg so it was a worthy call.

Silver Knight also takes point as a double precaution, marking the mines the others find and keeping suits away from them.

Once the top of the mountain is reached, the combined scans of three BIS special radar systems activates and takes up the duty of Long Range passive scans. Thanks to their combined usage and Commander boost, it's been shown there are no large metallic objects of any variety for about 2 miles.

However, there are some. . .strange readings. They don't show up as clear even on the BIS, it's almost like someone poured blobs of paint or glue on the radar map and spread it around. There doesn't seem to be a direction or order to them. What is that?

>>919972
>>919979
Buio's sensors show clear as well, but unfortunately the Radar on his Quadruped Fortress starts going on the fritz. The entire radar section of the screen shows up as blue code with the only discernable info on it being thus:
"ERROR: Radar doesn't support this property: Hwkeyescript.Eho"

Better see if he or someone with good tech can debug it.

>Your radar has been damaged!

---

The Team reaches the top of the mountain without issue, but by far the sight that greets them grabs their attention.

The first thing that they team notices is the BIS Radar network lighting up like a Christmas tree. Before any of them can react there's a sound like a freight train running everywhere, and they have just enough time to look up into the sky to see it turn into a rushing grey color.

The great grey mass moves on and gives them a clear view of it. . .it's a flying ship. Anyone savvy with the series would have recognized the outline of it as a Star Trek Series Federation Galaxy Class ship.

Its running headlong boosters firing from behind, joining the great scene spread to the team on the horizon in the distance.

Ships. Ships of every shape and size. Star Destroyers, Lucrehulks, Covenant vessels, Battlestars, as if someone at a Sci-Fi convention decided to turn fiction into reality. Swarms of fighters fill the sky like gnats. Ships dot the horizon blasting the ground with a rainbow of energy weapons, lasers, and missiles down onto the earth.

What they were firing at was difficult to see, much of it was covered in a thick white fog and smoke.

Definitely what was most shocking to them was witnessing a massive tendril jut from the smoke and impale a Star Destroyer, tearing a hole in it the size of a city block as its engines exploed and it crashed into the earth. . .and all who saw it almost swore they could see a pair of massive fleshy jaws reach up to swallow it just before it dissapeared into the smoke.

This is the scene that spreads for miles around, from east to west horizon, ships dotting the sky and blasting the earth, attacked by strange and clearly organic figures and shapes.

In the distance, the team can see what seems to be a "Main Fleet", a much larger group of ships huddled together in formation, keeping distance from the battle. Down below at the foot of the mountain is the rest of the Jungle in between them and this force, but it trails off into the smoke. Behind the smoke the BIS shows more of the odd radar readings.

[Vancouver incidient AKA Falling Down]

One of the very firsts displays of the power of the mysterious substance known as Sludge.

This material is key to the creation and function of all Vannai based technology, including suits.

Operating under the principle of E=MC^2, it shows perfect capability to convert matter into energy and vice versa.

Sludge has been known to come in both a "Raw" and pure form, as well as the practical form used by suits regularly. Raw sludge is highly volatile, and must be contained within special parameters. Suit cores are known to contain a small amount of raw sludge, as well as certain weapons such as the DORF variants or the WMG black hole emitters. As shown, if these systems are overloaded the amount of raw sludge within such a suit can generate an explosion capable of leveling a city.

The other form of sludge can be thought of as the "Inert" form, which has already been converted into mass by arranging itself at the subatomic level into stable particulate matter, such as steel or metal. Scans of this down to the molecular level show them to be indistinguishable to actual iron or steel, and operates on a subtacomic technology not yet understood.

Fortresses Carrier Recycler ability has been known as an indirect method of determining if a material is sludge based or not, as sludge based materials can be recylced into Drone Power Cells while true matter cannot.

Current experiments of the infestation and its relation to sludge are inconclusive, Carrier recylcing is not recommended.

The Leviathan overlord digs its gills into the ground and starts sending up waves into the sky.

It manages to hack a single Vulture Droid Drones, these mass produced fighters are notoriously easy to hack that even a novice could do it, the principle however is that you might hack and control only one out of 100, an insignificant number.

But he's not trying to hack it to control it, information is what's needed and he has it.

Reddit Drones are partly autonomous, if left alone or cut off from command they can still act, but unorganized. Hence Drones function much better when directed. The drone only reveals that its recieving basic orders, simple directions of where and when to attack or any change in directions. This drone tells you its recieving its orders from a nearby autonomous ship, however that ship is receiving its primary orders from a primary control ship. That ship happens to be a very large Malevolent Class dreadnought far in the distance with the "main fleet".

If there's any true info to be found, it would be in that ship.

>Radar is fixed!

Henderson attempts to get at any ships that seem big enough to hold the fortresses, however the difficulty is he can't get a clear signal on many of these due to interference.

At last he does get a lock on a ship, a Warhammer 40k Light Cruiser. Initial scans by Spider indicate it doesn't appear to be completely automated, navigational systems are hooked up a standard control bridge and wheel so presumably something is at the wheel. But judging by its trajectory his window of opportunity is short, and he won't have enough time until it leaves out of his signal range.

In desperation, he tries to start by controlling the engine systems and forcing it to slow down. It works. Too well.

Suddenly and without warning the ship starts falling from the sky. . .right at the mountain!

It's coming this way!

The drone proves childsplay to hack.

The act of hacking it does reveal some things, really.

1. Since they were fighting a primarily biological foe, the enemy didn't seem to put much of a stress on the need for anti-hackers

2. The command droid gives him the ship crew numbers (all of which are, thankfully, now pacified). Reddit is manning entire ships with skeletal crew of droids and trying to throw as many ships into the fight as possible. Seems they're getting desperate.

He's recieving reports which give him an idea of how many ships are being lost throughout the fight, horrific losses of machines and material.

The loss of one Light Cruiser among the battlefield probably won't even go noticed. However, he suspects they got lucky this time. If they tried this again on any other ship they'd probably get caught.

K-04 said while picking up her lance, activated camo, and started moving towards the docking area.

The entire crew of the ship get into position, trying not to immediately be seen and prepared to take on whatever the enemy has to throw at them.

Expecting something like a contingent of B1 battle droids, they find instead. . .Daleks.

Shielded Daleks, venturing onto the vessel. The single blue eyes scans the surrounding area, their ray gun pointined here and there, behind them the sound of other hulking figures begin to move in.

EXTEEEEEEERMINATE!

There's a brilliant flash of blue light as a beam of pure ions makes contact with K-04, lightning dances around her suit!

Several things happen at once. Suddenly more droids and daleks move in through the door.

The ship begins to rock. . .oh god, the other ships have open fired on the vessel!

This is it. This is the moment Silver Knight lives for!

He leaps barely dodging the electrical attacks of the Daleks that singe the air around him, twisting his body to bring the full weight of his particle blades and deadly wings around the Daleks he is engaged in.

With dexterity and agility he manages to outpace the rate they can turn their bodies and by getting up close to one it can't properly aim its long gun at him.

Their shields are tough, but hit after hit his particle weapons make them fizzle and spat out, as the rest of his attacks slice off an eye or a gun rendering them neuter.

In all, he downs 3 out of 5 Daleks before they take better aim and he gets the hell out of dodge.

>POINT BARRIER ACTIVATE
>>
>>922427
Buoi's veritable army of weapons from his various heavy drones unleash hell on the Daleks. The their armor seems imperivious to autocannon bullets but particularly effective is the Ion Cannons and Lance Rifle with EMP which help knock down their shields, allowing for the Rail Rifles blast them back! Some are destroyed while others who aren't are thrown back by the kinetic impact.

The robots are being pushed back to their own ship!

Seeing the major threat these heavy drones and their leader pose, the Daleks all focus their fire on him, which wohuld have surely destroyed his drones and damaged him heavily. Buio actiates a point barrier in the nick of time as their ion weapons are deflected, arcs of lightning dancing around the broken glass like shield of the point barrier.

----

Buio then targets the ship weapons-

WHERE DID ALL THE WEAPONS POWER GO?

>Weapons are non responsive!
>>
>>922433
Thanks to the Daleks targeting Buio, Hazard pay has a much easier time grabbing the K-04 whose suit is still sparking and convulsing. The mere act of grabbing it cases a small spark to transfer onto Hazard Pay too, but this helps K-04 a lot.

She's still unconscious and needs cybernetic medical help from a tech roll.

>>922436
The Black Prince's fortress finds some good cover behind several large metallic pylons, this comes in handy as the electrical arcs and ion beams from the Dalek are diverted from him and onto the ship. The cover came to much good use.

In retalation he fires off plasma and rail rifle, melting one Dalek into a glowing green paste and flinging the other off the ship!

If Buio's initial display of firepower was impressive, Clownfish is overkill.

From within the fortress she pulls down the keyboard of the Vengeance Organ and slams her palms onto the keys, the pipes burst with a sonic display of music and rocketry as incendiary explosives burst down the hallway both in our ship and on the enemy deck.

More so, a blast from Reddits own heat ray! Used against their very creators creations, pointed in the Daleks direction.

And Wyvern's Breathe, added incendiary on top of incendiary rocket and pure heat ray

Metal begins to singe from the intense heat, entire sections of both our ship and their ship turn white hold and liquid and fall to the earth, the remaining Dalek's vaunted armor turned soft and molten, their eyes and guns black and melted.

The combined high incendiary rockets, intense flamethrower, and heat ray actually damages the enemy light cruiser significantly which bursts into flame!

Unfotately, this is also true of our ship!

ENEMY SHIP IS IN FLAMES AND SINKING

WARNING PART OF THE HANGER IS ON FIRE.

Luckily the ship is made of metal so the spread isn't too much a worry, but, the heat is so intense even some of the lights and mediums have to back off. And that door to the hanger is all but gone.

Thank god M-04 was pulled away.

>>922481
Alas, as a final parting gift, a lucky shot from a dalek manages to make contact with the Black Prince, stunning the Fortress!

You are stunned, roll a tech to get unstunned net turn.
>>
>>922471
>>922506
Most of the Daleks are sliced, shot, and especially burned and singed by that last finger of incendiary god. Zipline and RaptR help mop up any leftovers, made especially easy thanks to the various incendiary effects having decreased their armor integrity, as sidewinder blast and metalstorm rip into what's left on the ship.

The enemy boarding ship goes up in flames and sinks to the earth. This would be great news if the very same thing didn't seem to be happening to our ship.

>>922472
Asides the giant flaming hole in the ship, another issue was of great concern.

Ryman, desperate to get the shields back on, ordered the Command Drone to redirect as much power as it could to the shields. This was made difficult due to the ship being fired upon, reforming the shields was damn near impossible.

Unfortunately, the Command Drone also took the command far too literally, and started draining off power from the weapons systems and worse:

The engines.

Before anyone even hendersen can act, everyone is flung to the back of the ship as it takes a nose dive. Again!

WARNING SHIP IS FALLING FROM THE SKY!

Everyone's stomachs lurch into their throats, fortress and light alike are caught by the force of the speed of the ship hurtling faster than human terminal velocity, Hendersen orders the Droid to put power back to the engines but then he see's the Command Droid himself fall to the back of the ship.

All he can do is watch that fog reach up into the light cruiser. Wondering if there were a pair of jaws beneath it too.

Everyone wakes up with the biggest headaches ever. Except the people with CB, who wake up with the biggest sensory data crunch ever. Suits are covered in metallic debris, smashed robot parts, empty artillery shells, or pieces of ship wreck.

Everyone gets up and tries to get off things or get thigns off of them. Luckily no one was crushed by a fortress, but its pitch black dark safe for the fire in the hanger and some emergency lights.

When people finally get there bearings, someone realizes it first.

The ship is facing down. It's stuck in a vertical position!

There's a lurch, as though the ship were still moving and might still fall, but instead of that something bizarre happens. The fire coming from the edges of the Hanger door is being doused by...blood. Red, thick, blood like a small flood begins seeping in and smothering the flames, washing the incendiary away.

The ship gets even darker. Nobody has any floodlights, so all are left with the morbid sight of blood pouring into the ship and red emergency lights.

Someone finally decides to step outside and take a look.

The sight they see outside is not much better. The ship appears to have landed straight down in some kind of. . .giant, fleshy mushroom that cushioned its fall. But that's not the most bizarre thing yet.

The most bizarre thing is what lies beyond the ship.
