Funtron is a Lego board game where you take command of a motley crew of space adventurers and explore an abandoned outpost on an alien planet.

You, the reader, post commands for the characters. In turn, I will execute your commands and post images and descriptions of what happens.

To begin, let's recap what happened last thread:

The loot-hungry crew of the Non Apparens detected an abandoned research station on Planet FSA-89. They sent three of their own down to explore Carpos Station: Bosun Joy, Inventor Penkala, and Intern Whitworth.

However, their vessel, the Capsula Cinerea, crashed during the approach to Carpos Station. In order to escape, our heroes will need to find a new radial charge incapacitator to repair the Capsula Cinerea. A second landing pad seems to be located at room #31, hopefully containing the spare parts needed to escape.

However, there's no way to access the research wing until the station's generator is restored to full functionality with a new power core. Finding one is the current top priority.

However, the three space adventurers and Teddy have recently realized that they're not alone. There's something green and plant-like lurking in the shadows of Carpos Station.

Our adventure resumes from here in r8, where our heroes recently defeated a robot on its bathroom break.

Whitworth and Penkala have 3 HP each; Joy has 2 HP. You have 7 medicine.

What will you do?

>Heal wounds
>Expropriate lightsaber
>Investigate r16

We'll take care of the separate rooms then go on the plant hunt.

You heal up Joy's wounds, bringing the medicine supply down to 6. She makes sure to nab the lightsaber as well. Dangerous loot is the best kind, after all.

Noting that r17 and r18 open into a looping area, you decide to clear out r16 before tackling that particular mess. It seems a little crowded in there already, though.

Do we really have to go after the greendude and search answers for this questions instead of serching for power core first? The Muse of Improvised Weaponry descends unto Penkala and she enters into a strange mood.

The poet Virgil, once inspired thus, famously penned the line "Arma virumque cano"—"I sing of arms and of the man"—but Penkala is quite content to leave it at "Arma."

A few minutes later, Joy's cocktail has been dismantled, a deactivated bot has been pilfered for its blaster, and Penkala is finished with her latest invention: the Advanced Advance Lunge, capable of buckling a swash from fifty studs away. Might be useful if you run into any space pirates.

With his usual lack of foresight, Whitworth plucks the frog straight out of the display case. Fortunately, it's just a crystal statue of a frog and not some horrifyingly poisonous alien species of dart frog. On mc^2Bay, one of these babies normally runs for...well, you actually have no idea without your laptop. Grief washes over you in a great wave, washing away your hopes and dreams like so many children's sand castles upon the beach. You set down the frog to wipe a tear from your eye. When you look again, the frog is gone. Off in the corner, Joy nonchalantly stuffs something into her pack.

r19 is yet-to-be-explored as well. However, you decide to tackle r21 first. Its transparent door is considerably more inviting and much less likely to trigger another ambush.

Desperate to find the fiend that parted him from his soulmate, Whitworth busts open the door first. Inside he finds himself face-to-face with something considerably more alien to him than all the creepy, green taxidermied heads or even the plantman: a library.

UNCORRECTED PROOF — DO NOT SELL
I do not propose to add anything to what has already been written concerning the loss of the Haughty Space Dame. Well, maybe a little. As everyone knows, she collided with an asteroid when ten days out from Callao (ed.: can you make this spacier? Space-Callao?). The shuttle, with seven of the crew, was picked up eighteen days after by a great big honking space dreadnaught, with guns bristling from every side. It loomed in the darkness like a great shadow upon another shadow, monstrous in its largeness. Its name: The Brigand's End; its captain, an enigma, shrouded in crimson red darkness. He gazed down upon the crew with one burning eye, and beckoned them in to dock.(ed.: you're not getting paid by the word) The story of their terrible privations has become quite as well known as the far more horrible Galacto-Medusa case. But I have to add to the published story of the Haughty Space Dame another, probably also horrible, though maybe a little less horrible than the Galacto-Medusa, and maybe it'll even be strange too. Your call. (ed.: awk.) It has hitherto been supposed that the four spacemen who were in the shuttle perished, but this is incorrect. I have the best of evidence for this assertion: I just haven't figured out what it is yet… (ed.: I think we need to discuss your contract again)

…"When the Core Of the Makuta reaches Full Power, it'll kill us all! shouted Hewki vehemently. Everyone sighed deeply and shedded a tear over the news that they were going to die.

"We need to find some way into stopping the Core," concurred Matoru. "As you all know, we can't get back into under Metrunui because the Barraki used the Exosuits to clog the tunnles… but what about poison???"

Everyone stared at to Matoro when he spoke those words, which were dangerous words as they all already were aware of. There was a dark gleamer in his eye, a spark of desperately mad desperation. He was proposing to use the Poison Scepter of the Dvorak to meltor their way through the rocks under to the ground, but if they used the Poison Sceptor, then almost certain the Matorans in Metro Nui would be killed by the dangrous fumes emitted by the weaponrey.

"We're not using the Poison, no way jose," exclaimed Jalalar. He put his foot down onto the ground, and then turned his eyes onto facing Matoro, then turned his body to facing Matoro, then turned his legs, except for the leg which he had set onto the ground already. When he did this, he looked really imposing like a king or an emporer or a shift manager, and he took out his sword from its sheath and lit it on fire, which he could do at will as the Toa of Fire. He leveld his sword at Matoro and then pointed it at him. "I'm" he said, "going to stop you Maturo my brother, my sworn comrade, even if it's to the last thing I'm doing."

Matoro unshielded his sword and drew it to. "You're on, he said"

Only one room remains in the Residence Wing: r19. The chlorophyllic cryptid must be in there, unless it's half-magician as well as half-plant and half-man, and you're pretty sure fractions don't work like that. Additionally, by process of elimination, the power cell must be in there too. If it's not, then you'll really have a problem on your hands.

You trek across the station over a number of turns that don't merit depiction, from r8 all the way out to r24. Teddy loiters in r10 with the Rough Rider while you carry the power cell to its destination. It fits neatly into place at the center of the generator, and after a few moments, the machine begins to crackle and hum. Whitworth and Penkala each take a terminal while Joy watches the door.

The right terminal reads out a list of projects undertaken by the staff of Carpos Station over the years.

Measuring plant growth in non-Earthlike soils (A. Preston, A. Graft, & I. Levant)
The effects of variant solar cycles of plant growth (A. Preston, A. Graft, & I. Levant)
Oxygen production of bioengineered algae (A. Preston, A. Graft, I. Levant, & C. Phil)
Bioengineered algae for use in terraforming (A. Preston, A. Graft, I. Levant, & C. Phil)
ABORTED: Cross-species hybrids using bioengineered algae (A. Preston, A. Graft, I. Levant, & C. Phil)
IN PROGRESS: Maximizing oxygen output of bioengineered algae (A. Preston, A. Graft, C. Phil, & O. Moore)
IN PROGRESS: PROJECT BERTILAK (C. Phil & O. Moore)

The other terminal appears to have been used to record the development of Project Bertilak. The screen awakens from sleep to display a half-completed log entry, but you lack the authorization to access any other files. The log reads as follows:

071128 — OM
This is my final entry. Something has come over Cory—there is reason to believe it is Bertilak. We are all endangered. I had thought the project a failure, but it seems we succeeded in a sense. Anthy is injured; I have instructed her to flee. Al is at this moment activating the emergency protocol. I regret having involved them in this, and I pray they find a way to survive this, but I do not believe any of us will. While the security robots engage Bertilak, I will proceed to the terminal and issue the termination order. Even should it take us as it did Cory, there will be no way for it to override the robots. We shall all share a coffin in Carpos Station.

I hear it approaching. Richard, when you read this, you know what you must do. I'm sorry to ask this of you, but

Time to slash and burn. You begin retreating while firing on the advancing wave of plant monsters. However, Whitworth is mobbed by slugs as he attempts to escape, losing 1 HP.

Within moments, Whitworth is buried under a pile of the disgusting, slimy creatures. Penkala takes 1 HP of damage as well from a slug that manages to slip past the curtain of flames. Only Joy is able to fend them off with the help of her lightsaber.

Whitworth is unable to move due to the slugs. Orders?

Teddy decides it's time for some rough riding while Penkala wrangles a slug in close quarters. She attempts to use the orange lever thing as a knife, but it seems ineffectual on these single-part enemies. Fortunately, the trusty flamethrower always works.

You regroup and look out over the carnage of the battlefield. The farm is in flaming ruins and your team isn't doing much better. Joy and Penkala are at 2 HP each, while Whitworth is at 1 HP. You have 2 medicine remaining.

What will you do?

You retreat to r14 to tend to your wounds. There's just enough medicine to bring Whitworth back to 2 HP, but doing so completely exhausts your supply.

The security robots have yet to return from their wild space-goose chase, so you take the opportunity to enter r28 unnoticed.

The corridor is uncomfortably narrow—too narrow for Teddy to join you. You leave him posted in r14 to deal with the bots if/when they return. Where will you go?

You check the unusual-looking red door to r29. It's sealed tight and doesn't budge when you try to open it. There's no sign of a keyhole or number pad or the like; perhaps it's being locked from afar.

What will you do?

With r29 apparently locked, you decide to investigate r27 instead. You hope you don't encounter any security robots there, considering your wounds and Teddy's absence. However, when you open the door and find your wish granted, you're not exactly relieved.

The blood on the operating table and the floor is quite old and dry, but there sure was a lot of it. On the blackboard, some scarcely visible diagrams depict what looks to be the human brain, an actual specimen of which sits in a jar on the lab counter. You're not sure what half the machines in here do, and you suspect you're better off that way.

What will you do?
