God damn, that person is still around? Nepgen is pretty comfy but that fuck always seems to ruin it.

All I can suggest is going to IRC whenever reporting fails you. The mods don't pay much attention to /vg/ so you have to get their attention directly. Thing is, mods can basically do nothing about ban evaders other than banning them again and again until they get bored. Maybe he'll be persistent enough to earn a rangeban, though, so keep trying.

Yeah, I don't like it very much either, but it really is the only way to get their attention for boards like /vg/. For example there's this persistent ban evader called ACK but the mods know how much of a problem he is so they don't mind people using IRC to notify them about him.

The only effective way to get rid of a persistent shitposter is to be equally persistent and contact the mods directly on IRC. That's what was done for the past two times he disappeared today and a couple of days before. Mass reports will not work because they usually flag you for an autoban, not because the mods/jannies are stupid. If you're going to report rampant shitposting, just limit yourself to 1-2 reports per thread and hope someone goes on IRC to contact the mods

If you're willing to actually do the latter, please follow the rules: PM anyone who's an OP or half-OP, start the PM with your IP address, and be concise and clear about the problem while providing documentation: links/images of past offenses, a brief explanation that the character being posted is from a different game not related to the thread, and links to the offending posts. It's going to seem like a huge fucking hassle, but all it takes is 10 minutes of work and the posts poof away within 12-24 hours. Like I said, if you intend to keep the thread clean, you need to match and surpass the efforts of shitposters to be rid of them

Now here's what he'll try to do after being banned:

1) Post a couple of times again within 24 hours with his nametag on and with thread-related content, to sniff around and see if the coast is clear

2) If he's not banned, he'll start to slip in off-topic images in his post

3) A couple more days, and he'll increase the volume of off-topic images without attaching his name or any accompanying text, bypassing people's filters. This is when people start to notice him, because in his mind he's free to shitpost without mod intervention for now

If you want to stop the shitposts before they get out of control, you need to report him directly to the mods at #1 and #2. And that means taking his name off your filters and using IRC

This just reinforces that the current reporting system is flawed since it'll auto flag you for doing it too much, or the janitors and mods seeing the reports look at the individual posts and see nothing wrong. I'm more likely to believe the former option at this point, since the mods have been contacted directly several times and are probably somewhat aware of what's going on. Honestly, the report system really needs a small comment box to describe briefly what rules are being broken and how.

Until then, we'll just have to keep using IRC I guess.
