He's right. OC is irrelevant. The focus on OC came from /b/ newfags originally who thought 4chan was for making memes. Look at most of the boards here or even the FAQ. 4chan is for DISCUSSION. Outside of /i/, /ic/, and things of that nature OC has nothing to do with anything. Look at /a/, for instance. OC has nothing to do with the board topic, it's for discussing content already created by others; in this case anime and manga.

Take /v/. OC has nothing to do with the board topic there either. It's for discussing video games made by other people. OC benefits some board like /tg/ (homebrews, character ideas, etc,), /vg/ (for the game development general), and little places like that, but it's not the central focus. That's a strong misconception based on newfags thinking 4chan was made for epic memes rather than being a discussion board first and random shit popping up from time to time that gets popular.
