I'd like to personally thank the janitors that have decided to begin deleting any and all OC threads that have been popping up around 4chan lately.
It's important that we clamp down on things that don't 100% resemble the board topic upon first glance, and that any and all OC creation threads that pop up must absolutely not only be deleted, but the OPs banned for at least a week, lest the various boards suffer under the tyrannical rule of MS Paint and Photoshop for another season.
Remember: taking it easy is fine, as long as it doesn't lead to people having fun and drawing pictures of video game, anime, and or cartoon characters, otherwise chaos will rule the day and our magnitudes of insufferable shitposting might fall way to content creation and merrymaking.
>/qa/ loses their reddit meme
>instantly goes back to calling things they don't like "furry" even though it doesn't involve animals at all
You can't make this shit up.
Show me a drawthread that is not a furry circlejerk
Here's a /b/ thread:
Yiff the fuck in hell, friendless
>people still think that if something is OC, it's automatically good
>shitting on OC
it just shows how cancerous this place has become. this includes mods too
>Remember: taking it easy is fine, as long as it doesn't lead to people having fun
What the fuck are you even on about retard? It sounds like you don't even browse fucking /a/. Just because anime upsets you doesn't mean you should go and try and blame all your problems on /a/.
>taking it easy is fine, as long as it doesn't lead to people having fun
The Hotpocket Creed
>go on /tv/
>find a baneposting thread and save a couple new pics and contribute
>all threads get deleted soon after
>go in yesterday
>find an amusing thread, possibly a new autisticly worded meme at work
>I'm getting a lot of responses and get trips
>thread 404s in 12 minutes total
OC is irrelevant.
>You will not post any of the following outside of /b/: [...] off-topic replies, uncalled for catchphrases, macro image replies, [...]
Just because something is "original content" doesn't make it exempt from the rules.
I could take and post a different picture of my daily bowel movement, that would be original content, but it would still be garbage unfit for anywhere other than /b/. Being original doesn't change anything.
See, that's retarded. We don't need to compete with Reddit. Besides, reddit does produce original content.
Like I said, people concerned about how much "OC" 4chan puts out are just vain twats living vicariously through a website.
No. Content aggregators have been the enemy of content creators since they were called ebaumsworld. This fight is bigger than you know and probably older than you are.
>reddit does produce original content
Example outside of AMAs? Because I thought the only things you could even post to reddit was links to somewhere else.
>This fight is bigger than you know and probably older than you are.
Sigh.... People who need to crusade on behalf of 4chan are newfags who have bought into the cultural identity here.
Nobody needs to feel threatened by reddit. Even moot has a reddit account and did an AMA.
Please, stop trying to play cultural arbiter - you aren't as oldfag as you pretend to be.
People create things specifically to post on Reddit and upload them to imgur. You can also self-post if you want to contribute some text to reddit. I'll just pop on over to the UT sub for an example of the former.
So there you have it. Guy draws his own art, posts it to reddit.
/b/-level original content may indeed be original, but that doesn't mean it belongs outside of /b/. Remember, /b/ is a containment board exactly for your type of template-based memes, macro images and general off topic crap. So go to /b/ and stay there.
/b/ is mostly a stupid porn, "my gf" and rolling board. That's it. What was the last worthwhile thing from /b/ that swept over 4chan and made it into various other sites?
Their brain damage led them to be retarded for a while but they're just a vegetable now. Most of them wouldn't know what to do with a template if you showed them. I want them to prove me wrong, but they won't.
/b/ isn't even a part of 4chan anymore, as far as I'm concerned.
>Someone posts a template
>People color it in
Hahaha, yes you're right, I'm wrong. Hey, do you remember when the optmized GIF dude was posted here? No? Oh, yeah, right, because it was also a template used to make gozillions of edits, and it didn't last two months.
I don't think you understand what 'forced' means.
Sounds like you're suffering from a terminal case of not knowing what the fuck you're talking about, guy.
Pacha threads were banned? It was pretty stupid to ban them.
Template threads have been a thing for years and years and years.
You know, this Pacha thing would have died out within a week. I've always felt the mods are too quick to make decisions like these. If they just let it run its course, it would end by itself in about a week and everyone would carry on as normal. But when they ban it because there's been too many threads, it just makes the users unhappy.
>there are people in this thread RIGHT NOW who discourage the creation original content
mods have that weird neo /v/edditor mentality where they get triggered by memes if they go on for more than a day
i don't really understand it, they never let anything organically run it's course anymore

>300+ edits made in 1 day
I get the feeling from people who pump out repetitive "OC" that they imagine they are the creative minds of 4chan.
But this is just the delusions of the kind of faggot who goes on places like s4s or writes fan-fiction.
You know how when you were six, and you drew something crap, and the teacher said you were very creative and gave you a sticker? That is about the level of our "OC" fags. It's just all done for the sake of acknowledgement and self-congratulations, not to entertain people.
>furfags draw so literally all artists are furfags
Hey pal, furfags breathe oxygen, so how about you suffocate yourself?
Hey, check out this OC! I just made this a couple minutes ago, content doesn't get much more original than that!
Since this is OC, that means it's automatically the highest of quality! And it's also magically on-topic, regardless of what board I'm on or what's being discussed in the thread!
Yeah anon, you know what's up, clearly.
Relax champ, take your shoes off, have a drink.
He's right. OC is irrelevant. The focus on OC came from /b/ newfags originally who thought 4chan was for making memes. Look at most of the boards here or even the FAQ. 4chan is for DISCUSSION. Outside of /i/, /ic/, and things of that nature OC has nothing to do with anything. Look at /a/, for instance. OC has nothing to do with the board topic, it's for discussing content already created by others; in this case anime and manga.
Take /v/. OC has nothing to do with the board topic there either. It's for discussing video games made by other people. OC benefits some board like /tg/ (homebrews, character ideas, etc,), /vg/ (for the game development general), and little places like that, but it's not the central focus. That's a strong misconception based on newfags thinking 4chan was made for epic memes rather than being a discussion board first and random shit popping up from time to time that gets popular.
>The focus on OC came from /b/ newfags
Stupidest statement yet. The entire focus of /b/ until it died was around making new content or endlessly reposting old shit
