With that said, while non-official manga can belong in /jp/ too, the bigger problem with /jp/ is that shitstorms often occur in KanColle threads in /jp/, because many, many 2hufags on /jp/ hate KanColle that much. If they could even tolerate it there'd be more justification to put it in /jp/, but there's a reason why /mlp/ has its own board: no one could tolerate it (although in /mlp/'s case, that's more of because the /mlp/fags were far more obnoxious, the effect is essentially the same since the tolerance level of 2hufags in /jp/ is much lower, and these 2 factors cancel out).

Confining KanColle to a single /vg/ thread, for example, would surely solve both problems.

Other than a few purists, most people who hate on it are just trolling. But there is a real chicken-and-egg problem where nobody posts in Kancolle threads when they are made except one guy who seems militantly determined to manufacture threads and keep them alive.

The real problem with /jp/ is that there's just one big shitty game general that's mostly blogging. Thread itself aside, it astonishes me that people can still maintain interest in the game two years down the line.

KanColle might be interesting, but Kadokawa has to ruin it by being Nazis about everything. No fan games and no Americans playing our game, fuck everybody, xenophobia still going strong. Shame because a fan game would probably have cooler gameplay, like I'd really dig a good KanColle platformer.

This is why I'm glad ZUN is pretty cool about Touhou. He doesn't mind at all and that's why Touhou has been around for literally decades. Because he lets the fans be fans. Helps that the games themselves are lots of fun. Good shmups, good music, good times.

It's honestly super depressing when companies don't realize that letting the community mod and remix your shit is the best way to get it to be well known. Look at minecraft. Hell, look at Doom.
