A Good Idea:
Word-filter "R*ddit" to "Gensokyo"
Feel free to use this thread to discuss my good idea!
A good filter for Reddit would be autism
A good filter for autism would be special needs
A good filter for special needs would be honorable friend
A good filter for honorable friend would be fuck boy
A good filter for fuck boy would be cuckmaster boo
But that's wrong.
You either live in the zoo that is the human village or get eaten by some random youkai.
Confirmed for not knowing anything about Touhou lore. Youkai are forbidden from killing due to spell card rules. Conflicts are settled by duels.
If these rules didn't exist I guarantee you the youkai would go down first as the Hakurei shrine would methodically exterminate them.
Same thing humans eat. Fish, chicken, vegetables, whatever. Mystia's shown to eat yakitori, for example.
Also the link is text directly from an official work. I'm guessing you didn't even look at it. Seriously, how mad are you that I called you out on being a secondary?
>A singing voice from nowhere in particular without a source in sight can be heard, and while one is taken by that voice they lose their way and are attacked by youkai.
Only secondaries call other people secondaries
>inb4 it's a friendly attack
To add to the good answers you already received, and speaking as OP, I simply styled it that way because I felt like it and you are NOT the boss of me. I'm going through a rebellious thing.
Not him, but you have to be retarded to call someone a pathetic secondary when you haven't even played games yourself.
Show me a single place in any game where a human is actually eaten. It's widely known that the dialogue in the games is mere trash talk considering they never act on it. Except to secondaries like you and him, apparently.
>i-it's just trashtalk.
Holy shit why can't you even be a good loser?
It is implied on Ibarakasen 14 that youkai feed on outsiders. Probably.
I think it's funny that you've just been sitting around waiting for someone else to provide evidence because you lack Touhou knowledge.
Anyway, I'm glad that page got posted. Not only does it affirm that you are a secondary since you don't know that translation is incorrect (nice SECONDARY knowledge!), it gives me an opportunity to post the actual translation which only supports my point.
I knew it was just a matter of time before you secondaries would slip up.
I wouldn't bet my life on a poor shrine maiden enforcing the spell card rules, specially if I'm relatively unimportant and powerless human that was retarded enough to wander into a youkai infested forest at night or a bad conspiring human that threats the power balance. This is just my opinion.
Blame ZUN for being so vague.
The meanings is still the same(youkai mostly feed on outsiders). Care to elaborate on what's so wrong about it?
No, I'm not taking any sides.
I'm done arguing with you since we now know you don't actually know Japanese and are basing your information on secondary knowledge. That's what secondary means - you don't have any direct knowledge of Touhou. There's no need to get offended when it's the truth. Better to just admit it and stop wasting everyone's time. Well, not that you need to admit it at this point, I already know. You're free to apologize, though.
Tfw you will never become a magician and live in gensyoko
Look if you're so butthurt because you lost the argument and are relying on single vague panel then you have some serious problems.
I know that you want to pretend that Gensokyo is a happy-lucky-go place full of your waifus.
But the thing is that it's not. And no matter how many times you ignore my posts and links, cherrypicking shit and falseflagging like autist will not make it true.
>They're talking about actually going outside of Gensokyo, into our world, to feed on humans. Gensokyo itself is safe.
And you call others secondaries.
You should be ashamed of yourself.
I suppose expecting an apology was too much. Oh well. This is why you secondaries have such a bad reputation.
Even if my attempt to set you idiots straight was unsuccessful, I'm glad this turned into a Touhou discussion. Much better than all the stupid whining about Reddit plaguing the rest of the board.
You really think so? I've actually been providing evidence to support my claims. I won't apologize for actually knowing more about Touhou than the rest of you.
About that. The rules are automatically enforced by the contract's magic. They signed the contract so they are literally incapable of breaking those rules within the bounds of Gensokyo, which is why a chance to go into the outside world is so appealing. Sounds silly, but it's canon.
Consider this: People in our world mysteriously disappear all the time and are never found. Of course the reason for this would be youkai.
>been providing evidence to support my claims
I have also been doing the same, but somehow you keep missing them when it's convenient, strange isn't it?
>My crazy theory is canon
I'm fucking done with your shit.
Because I enjoy being rude. But the word itself is not inherently insulting.
A lot of things, and to be honest the Touhou posters are the least of its problems. But they're basically just a lot of people who haven't played the games and don't know anything about the characters but just want to post a lot of pictures of them. /c/ already serves exactly the same purpose. The rest of the board is pretty bad too, lots of generals filled with low-quality shitposting, stupid threads where people just post about gross shit instead of anything relating to Japanese culture, stuff like that.
>Because I enjoy being rude
It's like I'm arguing with 12 y/o.
25 and calling people names on an annoymous board whilst posting your crazy theory as canon material.
Sounds exactly like the kind of person I was thinking about.
I was hoping for the raw, but if you stand by that translation then I'll forget about it.
>And if it isn't then maybe something should be done about that name.
I don't see why you would expect "otaku culture" to be anything other than a hive of degeneracy.
Yeah, I'm trying to find the raw but the only ones I see are for the first couple volumes, for some reason. I can vouch for Gaku though.
And you're right, I don't expect much. I wish it could be better than it is, though.
Sour that you lost? I'm just sitting here chatting about Touhou. There's plenty for me to say. I've also been using sage (which you probably did not know is short for sageru) this whole time, so you look pretty silly.
>my various wiki links
Wow, this sounds dumb. Thing is, we established that you're a secondary who knows nothing about the original Japanese so no argument you can make based on wiki links is valid.
My argument against PoFV was posted earlier in the thread. To refresh your memory, it is irrelevant to this discussion because no humans are killed in it. In fact, if you knew anything about the plot... well, I wouldn't need to say anything else.
>as far as I know.
This is pretty secondary of you.
>because you are very young and so you think age is relevant.
I never stated my age, unlike certain little person.
>So you admit that you don't actually play the games and are just arguing for the hell of it. What's the point of continuing?
The point is that you give a concrete argument instead of relying on your "superior knowledge" that you obviously don't have.
Also I did play every game and read side material.
Too bad IJN history is barely a footnote in the grand scheme of fighting waifus you can fuck: the franchise, and mostly functions as just one more gimmick you can throw on a character.
I'm sure there are lots of people out there doing great things with it but not around 4chan there aren't.
We're having FUN, turbonerd.
You should just fuck off, kiddo.
Yes, I'm well aware that >>422659 lost the argument but simply found me too irresistible to quit. Many secondaries have fallen for my charms over the years, I have plenty of experience dealing with them. Alas, it can only last so long before I must return to my duties as a silent guardian. A watchful protector. A dark knight.
Okay that's enough.
You can stop pretending now.
/jp/ used to discuss Japanese mythology (in the context of Touhou) quite a bit and they were some of the more enjoyable discussions out there. There's still some of it these days.
>Yeah, that just goes back to /jp/ being a garbage board. 4chan is a bad place to discuss both Touhou and Kancolle
It's also not just /jp/, /a/ (which for some reasons houses a Kancolle general that has nothing to do with either the anime or the manga) has a thread that is also quite bad.
From what I know of the other Kancolle communities on the internet they're also shit, maybe not as shit (?) but I can never be bothered to check out traditional forums these days. Mostly these days I browse for new art / comics and leave the community alone.
I want to fuck tewi
>Conflicts are settled by duels.
This is why Reimu just kills that youkai dude with no spellcards right?
Or why countless canon sources tell about youkai killing people.
Straight from a game prologue:
>Nonetheless, the main diet of youkai is, of course, humans.
>Natural products are especially popular. Food-gathering teams would go out at regular intervals to hunt humans. Of course, the youkai couldn't let the humans know about their presence. Under the guise of various accidents and incidents of people running away from home, the youkai hunted humans. A simple missing person would barely even make the news since there were too many people in the human world.
>nothing to do with either the anime or the manga
No one likes the anime so I'll give you that, but there are many, many instances of translations and typesets of both official and non-official manga in the /a/ threads so I'm not sure what you're going by there.
No, because then people just say Leddit, or Plebbit, or whatever.
The ideal is you make the filter let you post, but that you look like an idiot for posting it. Roodypoo, Candyass, etc were great. Weeaboo was basically perfect, except that the community embraced it too much. sm.h tb.h fa.m are the best filters I've ever seen, because now you almost never see them, but before the filters they were everywhere.
>No one likes the anime so I'll give you that
Yeah bro, that's why it's getting a movie and second season. Because nobody liked it. Please stop acting like a vocal minority's opinion means something.
So seeing that Fubuki is still the MC, that means those in charge didn't learn or care that people didn't like it, and are still persisting with the unpopular format. That's even worse.
Fair enough. So that means >>424055 was misled.
I have doubts it'll last beyond S2 though. The size of this franchise would make it too big to fail after one god awful season, but multiple seasons of S1 tier garbage or worse would surely spell the end of any franchise eventually.
Should've wordfiltered to 4chan instead.
Canonically the title uses a small c. We don't do this "capital letters mid-word" thing in Japan.
Anyway, we'll see. I know something promising but unlike the other stuff I've said I could get in serious legal trouble for it.
>Canonically the title uses a small c.
Nope. Just because you don't use it doesn't mean everyone doesn't. Even the devs' twitter is https://twitter.com/KanColle_STAFF.
Well """"""""despite"""""""" their """"""""typo"""""""", they're doing a lot more successfully than their peers right now. Obviously the others should be following KanColle instead :^)
>Kancolle and KanColle refer to the same thing.
No. "KanColle" is, in essence, what the franchise actually is. "Kancolle", on the other hand, is more complicated.
Due to the observer effect, what is observed about the franchise (which is an observable phenomenon) is necessarily flawed. Due to this flaw, "KanColle" can sometimes be wrongly observed as "Kancolle", which fundamentally should not even exist.
The thread does do the official 4koma (which is fantastic) but 99% of the thread isn't about it. Think the RWBY debacle. And non-official manga isn't actually any more /a/ than it is /jp/.
Also, KanColle looks fucking stupid and in a fight of aesthetics versus officiality I'll choose aesthetics every time. Secondaries unite.
Please don't, I would like Gensokyo to be a nice place when I finally go.
Here you go. Pick your favorites. Ones with a second # in them might not work but that should be easy enough for you to remove and sort through using a little ruby script or lisp or whatever scripting language you know.
Thanks, this is a pretty good selection. I'll save these and whip them out when this list has been forgotten. Not that I mind other people using them, idols are for everyone after all.
>4-koma is the only official manga
With that said, while non-official manga can belong in /jp/ too, the bigger problem with /jp/ is that shitstorms often occur in KanColle threads in /jp/, because many, many 2hufags on /jp/ hate KanColle that much. If they could even tolerate it there'd be more justification to put it in /jp/, but there's a reason why /mlp/ has its own board: no one could tolerate it (although in /mlp/'s case, that's more of because the /mlp/fags were far more obnoxious, the effect is essentially the same since the tolerance level of 2hufags in /jp/ is much lower, and these 2 factors cancel out).
Confining KanColle to a single /vg/ thread, for example, would surely solve both problems.
>KanColle looks fucking stupid
No it doesn't.
I don't want to share a stomach with the other undesirables, either... but I guess it can't be helped.
Do... people actually give a shit about the other ones? I guess I saw the SuzuKuma one around.
>because many, many 2hufags on /jp/ hate KanColle that much.
Other than a few purists, most people who hate on it are just trolling. But there is a real chicken-and-egg problem where nobody posts in Kancolle threads when they are made except one guy who seems militantly determined to manufacture threads and keep them alive.
The real problem with /jp/ is that there's just one big shitty game general that's mostly blogging. Thread itself aside, it astonishes me that people can still maintain interest in the game two years down the line.
>No it doesn't.
KanColle might be interesting, but Kadokawa has to ruin it by being Nazis about everything. No fan games and no Americans playing our game, fuck everybody, xenophobia still going strong. Shame because a fan game would probably have cooler gameplay, like I'd really dig a good KanColle platformer.
This is why I'm glad ZUN is pretty cool about Touhou. He doesn't mind at all and that's why Touhou has been around for literally decades. Because he lets the fans be fans. Helps that the games themselves are lots of fun. Good shmups, good music, good times.
It's honestly super depressing when companies don't realize that letting the community mod and remix your shit is the best way to get it to be well known. Look at minecraft. Hell, look at Doom. Half life. Super Mario Maker finally realized it. PC Gaming fucking loves mods and if you can get people to spread your 2hu or whatever via fangames, then you get to roll in notoriety. The only reason a company would ever stop people from making fangames is if they're nazis, idiots, both, or just decide that they would rather not make money. Fucking Squaresoft. Big hypocrites not realizing that the only reason FF4: The After Years even got made was because somebody got inspired by a romhack and yet they still C&D everything resembling Chrono Break.
Anthologies too, if they count.
>Other than a few purists, most people who hate on it are just trolling.
A few vocal purists is more than enough for a trolling chain reaction.
>one guy who seems militantly determined to manufacture threads and keep them alive
Probably to justify the purists' words as well as incite said trolls.
>The real problem with /jp/ is that there's just one big shitty game general that's mostly blogging.
It would belong more in /vg/ desu.
>Thread itself aside, it astonishes me that people can still maintain interest in the game two years down the line.
I take it you haven't seen Katawa Shoujo threads in /vg/.
It really doesn't.
I could've sworn they relaxed that restriction some time back, at least in part, unless I'm mistaken. The problem is that no one actually bothered to test things.
>Conflicts are settled by duels
not all of them, example the fortuneteller
>ch 30 of FS
they need any form of belief, ussualy in the shape of fear
>symposium of post mysticism
in PCB it said that youkai ussualy traspass the barrier to hunt humans
the native humans are decendants of youkai hunters when gensokyo was created, so no are THAT powerless, and the hakurei isn't in the human side, she's neutral in order to maintain the barrier (and gensokyo) fine and working
but reimu is a kind of lazy miko
the point is, no ALL youkai (especially someones from gensokyo) eat outsiders
and akyuu is an unreliable narrator
