Shitposters, edgy contrarians and attentionwhores in general go nuts where they know a lot of people are going to see their replies, which are the faster boards. They won't waste their time on a dead board because they'll get bored waiting for responses, unless they think the place is so dead that they can single-handedly fuck it up unimpeded.

those boards are the site's lint filter...if they don't exist, the users from those respective boards will start shitposting in the boards most similar to their native board.

For instance, /pol/ would probably flood /k/ and /his/.

/b/ would wreck the porn boards.

/v/ would ruin...everything else.
