Something needs to be done about this shit.
A few years ago calling something "reddit" actually held some meaning because people knew what it stands for and why is reddit bad, but now newfags are just spouting it at everything they don't like or don't agree with. Normalfags on /tv/ think that "everything is reddit" and that it's just a funny meme.
Not only the word has lost all meaning, but at this point the word is so wide-spread that actual redditor tourists start to feel at home, seeing how everyone calls each other reddit.
I don't know what would be the optimal solution, but one of the options is to wordfilter "reddit" to "cancer" or at least "plebbit". At least that will make the word have the negative connotation, like it's supposed to. I'm talking about /tv/ only, I have no idea if this is also a problem on other boards
>candyass and roodypoo
No, if for no other reason than the swathes of "I REMEMBER THIS, LOOK HOW OLDFAG I AM DESU DESU" posters that would crop up.
On second thought maybe people actually wanting to act like oldfags for a change would help alleviate some cancer for awhile...
honestly at this point they should just set it so you're autobanned from posting on any board for 60 minutes. each sucessive ban being doubled. it's gotten to a point where the word reddit has no positive or even negative connotation and should just be stricken from active vocabulary on 4chan
>I don't know what would be the optimal solution, but one of the options is to wordfilter "reddit" to "cancer" or at least "plebbit".
No. This will just anger the people who want to keep calling everything they hate reddit. Reddit should instead be filtered to something innocuous, like "New Jersey"
>"go back to new jeresey desu sempai kek"
I can honestly see myself as having a good honest laugh at that string of words. not that it would stop faggots from just typing a dot on it like they do with f.am
>This will just anger the people who want to keep calling everything they hate reddit
That would be a good thing, wouldn't it? What's wrong with angering cancerous faggots?
I'm not against anything innocuous either, it still would be better than the current situation.
>redditors so mad about being called out they want to filter the word reddit
I'm sorry anon, but retard redditors have a actual very distinguishable posting style, post format and the like. A lot of shitposters misuse it, but a lot of the complaints are actually spot on. You can tell how spot on they are as well with the retorts they give when you call them reddit
They're center, like it or not.
Tumblr thinks they're all neonazis.
4chan and /pol/ think they're leftist circlejerk.
It's because they're in the center. They're to the right of the far left and to the left of the far right.
Nothing offends a redditor more than belling called reddit.
You can call him anything, any insult, but if you call him reddit he will shriek and throw a hissy fit. He's been found out and he hates it, he doesn't even understand how it happened, he tried to fit in but failed.
The redditor is immunized against all dangers: one may call him a liberal, memer, SJW, faggot, it all runs off him like water off a raincoat. But call him reddit and you will be astonished at how he recoils, how injured he is, how he suddenly shrinks back: “I’ve been found out.”
Are you new? People will just start saying stuff like "leddit", "reddot" again
I would like to think so too but that's the truth, sadly
>Nothing offends a redditor more than belling called reddit.
That might have been the case 2 or 3 years ago but now lebbitor newshits actually think that there's nothing wrong with being a lebbitor; even worse, they think that lebbit is superior to 4chan and that this place is for "memes and shitposting"
To see what cancer I'm talking about, check >>397807
Daily reminder that redditors are indeed cancer and always have been, but now accuse every single post they see as being 'reddit' so that no serious discussion can be had about the issue.
OP is likely a redditor himself, since if he had truly been here for a 'few years,' he would understand why redditors are so hated.
>Daily reminder that redditors are indeed cancer and always have been, but now accuse every single post they see as being 'reddit' so that no serious discussion can be had about the issue.
that's literally what OP said
Wordfiltering reddit to cancer wouldn't change anything. Should be filtered to "4chan"
Eg, somebody makes a normal post, then a trolling newfag comes in and says "Hello 4chan!"
Instead of being obnoxious, now their just introducting themselves to their new site
>A few years ago calling something "reddit" actually held some meaning
No it didn't. That image was from 2008, which was around the peak of newfaggotry. It wasn't "redditors" who were fucking up the place, it was YOU.
>I don't know what would be the optimal solution
Removing every board created after December of 2004, brining back deleted boards, removing native inline extension and catalogue, making sage visible and removing forced noko. The problem isn't "normalfags", because they don't persist on places like 4chan. The problem is autistic manchildren who came barrelling into the site during 2007 and 2008 who subsequently shat everywhere and clean it up and fuck off.
If you think /tv/ is full of normies you're fucking delusional. Normalfags don't spend hours on end shitposting about tv shows and movies, they instead mindlessly watch them on tv or stream them from shit like Netflix.
>Not only the word has lost all meaning
It never had meaning to begin with. By the time it was used it was already less relevant than telling people to do back to Gaia Online or Myspace. The entire thing has been one extensive pathetic exercise in deflection. Of course people don't want to admit that the problem isn't outsiders shitting up their place because it makes it harder to deny that they are the real unwanted fags here.
