Threads where the users play games together in the thread. Between pen and paper games to "Your post number indicates what happens to you" to drawhore quest threads, "Let's count to 10" threads from /b/, "Get the guy across the gap," "Hunger Games" threads, and many more.
These threads are fun and people enjoy them and there's rarely if ever any flaming going on in these threads. Problem is, they're off topic everywhere but /b/ and /b/ is 90% porn (also [s4s] and /trash/ I guess, but come on). Giving this subject its own board would revitalize one of the things that made old-/b/ so good and made 4chan great in the first place. TG's #1d20 dice rolling should be included and the OP of every thread should include the rules of the thread. Let users play chess by committee, jeopardy, hang man, etc.
Hiro please do this
I think this is a great idea.
They should do like a cool dice rolling script that shows you little PNGs of the appropriate dice type with the number on the top.
They could also have a little store for images for Risk type games - you could upload an image and perhaps even draw your own borders.
I think it would be definitely cool. People are trying to do this kind of shit all over 4chan. Why the hell not?
You can't do drawhore quest threads on reddit because reddit doesn't preserve chronological ordering of posts.
This would actually be something you can do on 4chan and can't do on reddit. Think about it.
You should be in favor of making the ONE BOARD that would be better than a reddit alternative board.
moot shoved them on to /tg/ when he found out that they were shitting up his precious /a/, so now there's a bunch of anime waifu self-insert faggotry on /tg/ that half the board can't stand and the other half will fight tooth and nail to keep posting. They have nothing to do with Traditional Games and really don't belong on /tg/.
They started on /tg/ back in 2008, then spread out a bit around 2011 and were pushed back into /tg/. For a while, there were a ton of them at any given time, but it's slowed down a lot. Now people claim that less than 10 threads at any given time are "choking the board" and "pushing out other content".
>22 Forum Game threads up
>less than 10 at any given time
gif because i cant into compression very well
This. Questfags are so fucking arrogant and self-absorbed that the suggestion they go someplace else, even if it would be entirely to their benefit, is interpreted as the mother of all insults. They will react as though you just threatened their family.
I think it could handle those hunger games threads.
I participated in one on /trash/ and it wasn't the worst thing in the world. The RPing was really cringey but then I tried RPing myself on the next thread and somebody replied to me in character with a quote from their respective show and it was actually pretty funny.
God, what has become of me?
Let's play some Shiritori, /fg/. Category is food. Words can't end with N.
Yeah, that's stupid. "Words can't end in N" only applies to Japanese shiritori because there is no Japanese word that begins with ん. You can't "lose" shiritori if you play it with English words because there are no English words like that. Also, the loser in shiritori isn't the one that ends a word with ん but the one that has to go next.
>Also, the loser in shiritori isn't the one that ends a word with ん but the one that has to go next.
Your variation on Shiritori is the opposite of how it's normally played.
Stop this shit already.
I support /fg/ or /cg/ or /pg/ or whatever the fuck you want to call it with the caveat that every thread should have a board-list dropdown to indicate the board it is "associated with" (the majority of which will probably be marked /tg/)
4chan is literally a forum
See the image next to your post?
There's possibilities there.
You can't do that on gamefaqs.
4chan could have a unique thing that can't be done on other places.
4chan could have a thing that Reddit can't do!
I didn't say go back to reddit.
I don't know where you faggots are coming from, but 4chan will never be like it.
Im glad that this board catches all the whining faggots.
Those are the only ones I have that perfectly fit my reaction.
But I have more random ones.
Do you know what a forum is? It's a little more inclusive than you think. It's basically any place where people hold discussions. Bulletin boards are forums. So is Reddit. So is Youtube. So is Wikipedia. So is Congress.
Shitty forums like SA are not the same as 4chan.
Be less of nigger and learn the difference.
Just because some forums are bad, it doesn't mean that forums are bad by definition. 4chan IS a forum. Look up the definition of an internet forum on Wikipedia (or anywhere you want):
>An Internet forum, or message board, is an online discussion site where people can hold conversations in the form of posted messages.
Look, that is exactly what 4chan is.
Also 4chan is listed as an internet forum here:
>In my experience not all forums are terrible.
Same. And (not so) coincidentally, the ones that are better have far stricter moderation. But at least the people in the better fora actually knew how to behave.
Like "Forum Anime" or "Forum Technology" or "Forum Shit 4chan Says" is any better? Unless you want us to just call the new board "Games"? Not that I'm against that.
Say, what happened to the /ig/ name proposal?
Whatever the board is called, I support this. Quest threads on /tg/ are faster than most of the board due their nature, and there are always 10+ running at any one time. People that continued to use the board seem to have retreated into generals, where their discussions about things that are actually on topic won't immediately go straight into the trash.
Quest threads have already done nearly irreparable damage to /tg/, and I hope we can fix it before it's too late.
They've also started cropping up on /v/ again rarely, although it's much less an issue there due to the board's speed.
I wasn't aware that you're retarded. You've demonstrated a general inability to read between the lines with that post though and attacked a metaphor as though it were literal so I guess you sure showed me.
With quest threads, meta quest thread generals, and actual on topic generals showing up as hives of activity that manage to stay afloat by their very nature (event-driven or cyclical), regular threads just getting started fall through the cracks and wallow in the catalog forgotten and unloved until they die.
It only takes one person to bump a thread.
If a thread can't get one measly reply in the two to twelve hours it takes for an entirely inactive thread to fall off /tg/, it's probably not worth mourning.
Also, it can be replaced by an identical thread.
The catalog exists. actively viewing page 2 exists. Filters exist. Threads don't get pushed off the board except by brand new threads being made. 10+ threads being bumped a lot only shuffle around on page 1. They do not affect anything on page 2+ and do not stop any other thread from being bumped.
Remaking a thread before the previous one falls off the board is the biggest waste of any board's space, and actually kills off whatever abandoned or bump limited thread is at the bottom of page 10.
>Less than ten
Try between twenty an thirty on a slow day, and it can go up to fifty if you count the CYOA's and occasional chess, "Hunger Games" and "Roll your own (insert subject)" threads.
Correcting moot's stupidity is beyond overdue.
And most of them are anime quests, too. They don't share a userbase with the rest of the board.
The only reason they're on /tg/ is because they took up space on moot's favorite board (/a/,) and he'd rather kill another board to make /a/ nicer.
I literally just counted 11 of them. 14 if you add CYOAs and nationbuilder, which you shouldn't if you know anything about how they work.
If you start counting a ton of unrelated shit in the same category as quests, then yeah, the number goes up, but then you're just making a list of things you personally dislike and calling them all "quests" regardless of their actual content.
Quests provably started on /tg/ before appearing anywhere else on the site.
Sure thing you did. And then conveniently forgot or didn't count half of them?
>B-but those aren't quests
Yet more reason why a dedicated board for your special brand of autism is overdue.
The numbers now aren't the same as the numbers at 12:35 yesterday. And when I counted them yesterday, I included the things that aren't quests, but you count anyway.
You aren't one of those people who thinks that every board should stagnate and never create new threads, are you?
No, I am obe of thoae people that think OP has a good idea and is beyond fed up of seeibg autists shit up the board he loves because a cuck at one point decided a special brand of shitposting belonged there rather than on /b/ or permabanned on sight because he was too afraid of losing some of his precious traffic.
Jesus. There is more than enough of both reason and traction for a dedicated board.
Ok kid, I'm sure that the tiny subset of people that participate in the /b/ risk threads would push out the quests, CYOAs, Hunger games, and various other chan games all by their lonesome.
Or maybe you don't actually have an argument against the board and are just a troll?
If you think stuff coming from /b/ won't outnumber the 10-30 threads coming from /tg/, you're delusional.
Actually, if you think 10-30 threads is enough traffic for a dedicated board, you're delusional.
>relevant threads are only on /tg/ and /b/
>no one will post any more than what is currently posted, ever
>obviously there can be no new content or games, just 10 quests, a CYOA, and /b/ Risk threads
And I'M the delusional one
You're misinterpreting my post. If they don't spread out, they flood with Risk and similar things. If they do spread out and participate in other things, they bring down the level of dialogue to shitposting. Board culture is usually not a valid argument, but when /b/, /r9k/ and certain other boards are involved, it becomes a real concern.
So your argument is really just that you're a big baby who thinks that the big bad /b/tards will ruin everything because it fits your narrative. Even if /b/-tier shitposting leaked onto the board, it would be gone within a week. /b/ "trolls" have fucking tiny attention spans. Disregarding the fact that you assume that a small minority of posters who participate in threads that are only on /b/ because they aren't allowed anywhere else would have anything in common with mainstream /b/.
>Problem is, they're off topic everywhere but /b/ and /b/ is 90% porn (also [s4s] and /trash/ I guess, but come on).
True. Rolling dice instead of waiting for the correct would be nice as well.
>Thread started 17 days ago.
>Only 107 replies.
>That's 6.3 replies per day in average, or one reply every 3 or 4 hours.
>All these "Good idea", "You rule, OP", "OP confirmed for basest guy ever and totally not a faggot" replies.
>Only 37 different IP.
>N, no, I'm not s,samefagging. I swear, he's, I mean, I'm not samefagging.
How if feels to be so lonely in the world, OP?
>>Only 37 different IP.
There's plenty of discussion in this thread which is why there aren't a ton of IPs, also that is only an average of less than 3 replies per person which is actually quite low
If nothing else, this thread shows us that strawpolls in the OP are always rigged.
This thread had a strawpoll a few posts down and has nearly as many posters as it has votes (37 posters, 38 votes), whereas threads which open with strawpolls (About literally any topic) regularly get hundreds of votes more than they have posters.
cuck reddit faggot nigger blah blah blah let's drive up the fucking post count. Let's fucking go. Here's your (you). Go back to reddit. Nice downvote. Reaction images are avatarfagging. Check these dubs. The medium is the message. Defeatist philosophy. Change yourself to accept the world so that you don't have to change the world to suit you.
It is my opinion that "enough traffic" does not have anything to do with whether or not a board should be made or should continue to exist. If Hiro removes /news/ then I'll change that opinion but until then, /po/, /news/ and /i/ continue to exist and /pol/ and /r9k/ were deleted once before so there is no reason to assume that traffic has anything to do with anything.
/fg/ won't work because some of these games depend heavily on groups of people driving the engines.
For instance, you might get a few risk players, but Risk is heavily reliant on a Skype chat called The Circle, which unfortunately also has it's teeth into /int/'s minecraft servers through a few mods.
Quests also tend to need to stay on one spot, or the whole thing can fail. Civ probably suffers from the same thing as Risk, but I'm not sure of that.
/fg/ without support from established groups would just be a terrible, slow roll board.
OP rules; his idea is good, and he's the basest guy, tbtythtgt (to be telling you the honest to god truth)
>We're actually shitposting by complimenting people now.
