4chan has stored IP info for a long time and a few people have been tracked down for law violations. It's pseudonymous or "front-end anonymity".

I'm not taking the 'new' tag as an offense but I should have clarified in my original post:

1) I have a masters in CS and a good understanding of encryption/security etc.

2) I've been here for 6 months (so relatively new, yeah)

That having said, thanks for answering my first question about IP being collected (I assumed as much but didn't say it out because I didn't have any source). Do you know if anything else gets collected? And do you know if they are __mandated__ to collect any of this information?

Yes, "new" was not meant to be offensive. Since this place has quite a history involving child pornography I imagine moot was approached to take steps like this or lose his site. While Hiro is the owner now and resides in France or Japan these days, the servers are still hosted in the US.
I don't personally know what else, if anything, is collected. Hiro has a seedy past and many don't trust him, but so far nothing directly malicious has been found.

Recently there was a bug uncovered with cloudflare that resembles heart bleed is how massive and damaging it has been.

Knowing Hiroyuki, it probably uses cookies to link your posting history in case of dynamic IPs too. This is much easier if you post with a 4chan Pass.
