No. The state of the job market is horrible, particularly for the recent graduates who are the people who protest about this sort of thing. Unless you already have multiple (usually unpaid) internships under your belt, a decent salary is out of the question.

Complicating this problem is the fact that for this same generation, college finally became a bad decision for most people economically. Students blindly marched to college since it was an American tradition that had brought prosperity to the last dozen generations without fail. Now it isn't, and the students were doubly fucked by the debts they ran up.

Hard work and sacrifice are not the reason he has a steady job, he simply chose a career path that, while offering guaranteed employment, also guarantees you a shitty life.

I'd say the most efficient way to have joined the military would be to go in as soon as you turn 18 with your GED. Looking back, I sometimes wish I had made a first career in the military, and retired at 38 with a pension and health care for life. I almost enlisted in the Marines, but decided against it at the last minute. 4 months later, 9/11 happened, so I guess I lucked out, in a way.

But, I think a working-class kid could do a lot worse than enlisting at 18. That, or learning a trade, like plumber or electrician.

Because it was a senior military college, earning a ROTC scholarship wasn't a necessity to stay in the program. I could the runs but asthma would pop up during runs. Best mile time I got was 5:30. In fact half the kids in my outfit never received contracts. The main reason I joined was for the structured lifestyle and because the corps of cadets was the oldest organization on campus since it was created in 1876. I wanted to feel close to the traditions. And the higher up in ranks you get, the better the people around you get. I have yet to meet a Senior Chief (E7 in the Navy, takes about 15 years good service MINIMUM) that wasn't completely based.

And fuck whoever says we're welfare queens. We fucking screen out most of the the welfare queens in boot and A-School. I'd like to see those armchair warriors stuffed in a cramped compartment with seventy strangers with the goal of becoming a functioning team in less than two weeks. They'd be the ones to try to drop out of boot on the first day. I can't vouch for the other branches, but the Navy doesn't work well with people who don't want to work. You eventually develop a sixth sense for the people who are going to end up getting discharged for snorting cocaine in the head while on watch or showing up to muster late and drunk. By the time you get to your first command, nearly everyone around you is a decent human being.

Well I believe a bit after WW2 maybe early 1960s (when we changed from a college to a university and allowed women and regular students at the school), the school administration and trigon lightened up the requirement to keep numbers for the corps up. Nowadays you spend the first two years in a ROTC program (Air force, Navy, or Army) which gives you some ROTC experience and skills if a draft were to occur. During that time non-contract cadets sometimes get a contract to continue into the upper ROTCs. For the last 2 years, if you don't take a contract you are a D&C (Drill and ceremonies) cadet and are required to take leadership classes. Which along with activity in other campus events can bet you a leadership certificate signed by a few of the ROTC people and I think maybe a few hundred bucks. All the while you are cadet back in the dorms and wake up every morning for PT just like everyone else. Basically you do the cadet stuff with your outfit first (along with academics ha) and then supplement or replace with military/ROTC stuff if that's your intended college track. Every day you wear a uniform to class as well. And you have to go to football games and other dumb shit the school wants you to do.

And it's true too. These lot of faggots actually think they're worth anything. In Afghanistan, you incompetent niggers cost 3 missions in the span of 5 weeks. This means in the span of 5 weeks I witnessed the navy's incompetence leading to 3 missions being scrapped. We had to turn to the army to save our ass and send us out there, then back in when the navy was nowhere to be found.

"Malfunction with the aircraft" was the reason every single time. During the seven months I was in country, I saw maybe 2 successful missions with the navy. Everything else was us and the army. Fuck, even the air force fucking performed with high excellence despite having maybe 50 guys on base looking out for 2 aircraft.

The navy is just the example of incompetency and neglect of duty.

That's and that alone is what makes us the country we are. You are fucking stupid if you honestly think we only send troops on boats. In 2009, we sent 3 battalions worth of marines over on planes. In 2012, we got to Afghanistan on planes, along with the army who also got there on planes.

Motherfucker, even you semen bitches got there on planes. This isn't some age of empires caribbean shit, we actually have planes now. We've been using them for 50 years to do things like this. Less than 20% of marines that are sent overseas today go on ships (MEUs) and even then, they only go on ships to safeguard US naval assets and provide security in possible hotspots.
