Saddam always did what he has done from day one. It's crazy that the one thing it took to convince the US to ditch this bloody dictator was him attacking oilfields in Kuweit. This article is quoted from the Foreign Policy Journal and I have read it before.

The FPJ article goes from "NATO invaded Libya because of Gold Back Currency" to "Hillary Death Squads" instantly and they never back their initial point.

All they do is vaguely cite one email. And that email states that Gadaffi can keep on fighting this war, despite having his assets frozen because he has a huge gold reserve... and they explain the reasoning behind his huge gold reserve is that he saved up all that gold in hopes of one day creating a gold back currency. While they push this BS forward, they ignore more serious information.

One of the emails state the reason for France intervening was believed to be because France wanted Libyan oil and wanted to expand their influence in the region, while France presented their whole "no-fly zone" idea to the United Nations as a means to prevent civilian casualties. That is clearly not surprising though, when ever a country gets involved with a foreign intervention, it's always for their own nations self interest.

In 1956 and 1967 Egypt blockaded our southern port of Eilat, that is an act of war.
After Egypt blockaded an Israeli port in 1956 Israel took Sinai. An agreement was reached for Israel to leave Sinai and in return we got guarantees from the US and Egypt for free passage in our waterways, and a UN peacekeeper force stationed in Sinai.

In 1967 Egypt not only blockaded us again, they kicked out the peacekeepers, going back on the previous CF agreement, and pushed huge amount of forces into Sinai.

Followed with a military cooperation agreement between Egypt and Syria and the following rethoric:

In light of all this. Israel had clear casus belli to attack the Egyptians and force open the blockade.

You seem a bit reasonable, check when the USS Liberty was hit, it was days after the offensive started, not on the first day not the second.
1. Attacking the ship would be useless at this point as any information that was 3 days old would have been transmitted to the US long long ago.
2. Israel never tried to hide that we were making the first active strike.
