A letter/note I found in the journal (in English for some reason) talking about their arrival back in Germany

That's a cool ass design for a journal.

the handwriting is pretty clear and uniform. I think if OP scans them in high resolution, modern OCR can digitize most of it easily. Might have to increase the contrast somewhat for optimal OCR.
Wasn't there a diary from 1940's? Staligrad and whatnot?
>>61087723
Yeah, 1942-1945. I'm almost done scanning that, I'll post it shortly
Literally history in art form.
Good shit.

Almost forgot: if that German poster asking about family sees this, I don't think we're related. I found a giant parchment family tree with this stuff and didn't see any of the names you mentioned on it.
>>61088574
That is going to take a very long time to get translated.
I don't speak any German but I can already tell it's some pretty heavy stuff.
Op, can i put the content on the internet for free?
I've downloaded the entire collection, I advise everyone else do the same thing, in case the imgur mods destroy it or something.
>>61083585
bump and thanks for posting that

Would you mind translating the page on the right? The illustration makes it look like it has to do with a camp.

They're all posted here, that's all the journals I've gotten my hands on so far.
>>61091872
>Juden
>Buchenwald
It's definitely interesting. Shame I stopped learning german at the end of high school.
Think you could find someone to translate, OP?
Mad jelly of thise journals, an incredible insight into the Germany of those periods

Camp K2 fell into the hands of the advancing enemies without sustaining damage.
All day and night long and in all languages, they[the enemy] send reports to the world which will, without a doubt, create terrible hate against us in the world. Because of the lack of kindness towards the jews they don't tell that the camps are mostly jew camps. From USA and England came, for example in Camp Buchenwald, Parlamentarian commisions[?]. Terrible things are getting told. In one camp the prisoners were lead into a room and there attacked with a club.
I had to interprete in some sentences but the sense should be correct
>>61093702
Thanks lad
>>61093702
>* In one camp the prisoners were lead into a room and there attacked with a club.
*Allegedly
>>61093702
Camp K2 = is probably concentration camps.
KZ is abbreviation for KonZentrations = Concentration (camp).
they[the enemy] send ''Outrageous'' reports to the world.
Can't really make out the Parla stuff either other than that its a solid translation.

Maor lad
>>61083585
if this is genuine shit contact the the Deutsche Nationalbibliothek or the guys who made the " Wehrmachtsausstellung" from the "Hamburger Institut für Sozialforschung" . Maybe they are interested in it as a genuine piece of ww2 war history.
>>61094417
Oh you're right it's KZ Camps.
So the first sentence would be as followed.
>KZ Camps fell into the hands of the advancing enemies without sustaining damage.
Welcome back OP.
>>61083585
I would offer translating some of it if you give me a few days OP
>>61083744
>it was heaven on earth
What a surprise.
At some point I need to get a German speaker to look at all the other stuff I've got and tell me if any of it is interesting. I've got a bunch of manuscript-looking things from the 1700s onwards, and tons of letters/notes mostly written by the diary author. My mother translated only ~10% of them, although she probably cherrypicked the good stuff anyway.

Go for it, /pol/ isn't going anywhere
