Your people have been driven furthen and further north by invading dark-skinned hordes. You have retreated to the lands on the edge of the world, where others would not tread, but you are of the white race and the cold north has called to you "Come home, white man".
There is a beauty to this land, though it is harsh. Your people were once farmers in the warmer lands to the south, but find that, with their current knowledge, they will not be able to grow their familiar crops here. The knowledge, however, is not lost.
There are few trees here, but there is wildlife that can be hunted. You are currently dwelling in caves. You, the elders of the tribe, must decide what to do now.
Your people, in their struggle, turn to worshipping their ancestors, developing oral traditions that preserve the tale of the homeland to the south and the greatness of your tribe in the past.
Food is running low, as the amount of hunters that are in your tribe are not enough to provide food and the gatherers find few edible plants.

Those who were now farmers must now adapt to the harsh north. Most of the men become hunters, with spears, bows and arrows, catching caribou and hare, The amount of food is now stable, but can't be called an excess - for now, you won't starve.

You gather the best hunters in the tribe and tell them of the lost girl and her mother. They must track them down into the cave, as of yet unexplored. They must not risk their lives, lest the tribe loses even more souls.
The group of 7 hunters has prepared and enters the cave. Its beauty is striking, but it seems to go on and on.

You discover the corpse of the mother, due to the cold you can't really tell if she died recently. On her back are the claw marks of a large animal.

You stand your ground, on alert. Another roar, then you see it approaching - a great white bear.It advances towards you, first slowly and then running with a speed you wouldn't expect from such a large animal.
You have six hunters and one sleeping loli against a 500 kg polar bear, it's height on all fours almost reaching one of the shorter hunters.
Nevertheless, you are determined to slay the beast.

You pepper the bear with arrows, one spear is thrown.
The great bear charges forward, knocking one hunter aside and mauling another. It turns towards the one on the ground and charges.
The fallen hunter picks up the wounded one's spear and stabs it in the heart, killing it.
With the help of his comrades the bear's corpse is moved from him.
Now there is a dillema - the hunter that got mauled is hurt bad and you do not know if he will survive - that is for faith to decide, as you have nothing on hand to help him with except try to stop the bleeding. You have five others with you and with the cold of the cave you must decide if you will:
A. Carry him and do what you can to ensure he survives
B.End his misery and take the bear's corpse with you, making sure nothing will be lost from it

With food now in surplus , your tribe is once again reproducing and can focus its energy on improving its dwellings. You dream of times when the people lived in villages of huts and were protected by walls of wood and stone. Some primitive huts are built with what little wood is available, for some you use bones. The problem is, there are too few trees around. You must choose:
A.Search for wood in the warmer, greener parts of the tundra, bringing it to your caves

You begin extracting stone from the caves for construction and equipment. It is a slow process, as your own tools are of stone. Basic markings and structures begin to prop up over time and small stone walls, no more than four feet tall, protect some cave entrances and hut groupings.

Your tribe develops slightly better forges, as time passes by your copper tools are more and more refined and you are able to harvest stone and copper more efficiently. You forge your first copper spear, axe and arrowheads.
More and more people are working on crafts instead of providing food and as such you are no longer increasing your surplus. Your population will not increase at the speed it has been the last few seasons. You'll have to think of something to change this, as the northern wildlands are at almost full capacity in terms of hunters.

The bearberries in the northern tundra have been part of our diet since we first arrived here, but few edible plants survive the cold winds here.
Your explorers look around the lake - aside from fish, it also has some kinds of edible berries in the region. Going south, they cross the small almost-forest to find slightly greener lands. Here some wild, leafy plants grow and are quite edible. Going further south, they find more leafy plants, but the sight of smoke in the distance makes them return after several days of exploring this...green land.
>>
Should we set up a small outpost on the lake for fishing?
And then protect it with a few soldiers, while building a stone path between the outpost and main base
We also need to see if we can ride these carrabu
>>
If you're wondering why it takes time to write, half of it is researching cold climate plants and such. It's a bit more of a challenge that we picked tundra.
The explorers also find edible fruits on their way back on the southern edges of the almost-forest.
Overall, going south from the lake one finds berries, goji, apples, pears, cherries, lettuce, asparagus, broccoli. There is potential for developing agriculture here if your tribe were to settle south. This excites many, but the news of the distant smoke dissuades some. Others believe it is the only way to progress. A decision must be made
A.Settle part of the tribe by the lake
B.Move the entire tribe south
C.Stay in the area of the caves

Your people agree to focus on creating an outpost by the lake, where fishermen, hunters and gatherers will be able to acquire more food
It is the grandest undertaking so far for your tribe. A path is laid out with markings for your people to follow. With the wood available, huts are created and many tribesmen settle in this outpost. A few hunters keep watch of the south.
Travel on foot between the outpost and the caves takes a while, but your overall situation is still improved.

Your population grows and more people become fishermen in the lake outpost. Untill now your people were hunting fish at the edges of the lake, but with the wood available around you construct small rafts and canoes to enter the lake. Your fishing output increases. At the same time, some reindeer herders move to the southern tundra as well. Seasons pass and it seems to be a prospective pasturing ground, as more and more reindeer herds move around the lake. With more food, population is increasing faster than ever and we have a bigger percentage of children on our hands. Those who are old enough help their parents in their crafts, though the children of some stay at their homes, not learning as much.

Years have passed since the white tribe first arrived in the tundra and those who were once in their prime are now elderly, too weak to hunt, but full of wisdom and knowledge. At the cave village a temple-school has been created out of a cave - the walls are painted with the stories of the past, the remains and relics of the ancestors are kept safe and the old men and women teach the children of their legacy. There is still room to improve these temple-schools however.

As most children live in the cave village, while half the adults are in the lake area, the elders decide they must provide the children with better teaching to strengthen the future of the white race.Aside from paintings, a system of runes now also adds details to the stories. Some are carved onto walls, others onto rocks and others onto stone tablets that can be carried.
When possible, a hunter or craftsman comes to the temple-school to teach the children practical skills. The tales of the white race that ones ruled the world remain and to it are added the tales of the Fall, the Exodus and of the heroic hunters who saved the girl that is the chief's wife today.
The question of faith remains - while some are content with the worship of ancestors, other elders believe in "higher" existence. This idea gains traction over time and the elders must decide what direction to take with the faith
A.Return to ancestral worship and remove all other beliefs
B.An idea of a god that watches over our tribe in particular

A great roar is heard from deep inside of one of the settled caves. The women and children are afraid and flee to other caves, which are now crowded. As hunters prepare weapons of copper and bronze, the elders must make a decision in regards to dwellings - most people no longer wish to live in the caves, but only some have huts of their own.

The cave system, as deep as we've ever been and even deeper, has been cleansed. The cost has been high on our hunters, our weapons of copper and rudimentary bronze are weak and our fur hides do little to stop a bear's claws. With no military tradition many panic in the face of danger.
Of 90 hunters 20 are dead, another 15 wounded. This post determines how many wounded die.

The lake outpost is growing into a village of its own as wooden huts are made. Some places are reinforced with stone, now transported via sled from the cave village. On the edges of the woods small towers are built, from which lookouts can see in the distance.
Some craftsmen also believe the very earth around the lake can be used in ways to create buildings, though this will take more effort into research.

From as far as the towers can see there is nothing but trees and to the south - greener pastures. The tales of rising smoke however remain.
You assemble a group of the best hunters to explore further south. You are careful, looking to the east and the west for smoke. After entering the greenlands you pass a ridge and see a river flowing from west to east as far as you can see. Looking where previous scouts saw some smoke you see the ruins of a village, huts made of stone and wood. Not a single person is found alive, the fires have long gone out here. Approaching the village, you see smoke in the distance, beyond the river. The scouts shall now:

Your scouts are weary of the distant smoke, but decide to quickly search the village for anything interesting before returning.
They discover the life of a different people - these were craftsmen and farmers, their tools made of bronze and an even tougher, darker metal - iron. They had clothing made of plants they cultivated, rather than just furs. Their huts are larger, with windows made of glass. While the wooden huts were burned down, the few stone huts still stand, the stones held together by substances. It appears there is much to learn from these people and from our own surroundings, as some scouts recognize familiar materials that are available, but not used. As the sun is setting the scouts retreat to the outpost.
