Easily scammed, they bring hoards of mice and rats into the neighborhood due to storing troves of food, pay a corrupt church to be a part of it, selfishly contribute to global overpopulation, c_ucke_d into changing their stance on niggers...
The religion itself is stupid. If you can actually believe Jews sailed on to a boat to America and made giant empires and lived like Protestants then whatever. The people are for the most part great though but unfortunately their blind obedience to the prophet is an issue because the LDS church isn't the white paradise religion it used to be and is willingly begging non-whites to join. On the plus end though they still believe in traditional family values and they're still willing to stand up to some things when other churches are backing down. So I feel mixed about them.
A good friend of mine is Mormon. I can't believe an intelligent person would believe the shit he does, but he's the nicest guy you'll ever meet. He'd do anything for you. He's pretty red pilled but probably wouldn't browse /pol/ because of the porn and bad language.
The fact that they insist on calling themselves Christian triggers me. They aren't Christian; they're crypto-Arians with their own brand-new book and prophet. And because their religion is wrong, it can get pretty silly to an outsider.
But Mormons themselves have nice enough communities, so I can't really disparage them. I've found that a lot of them are tremendously arrogant and presumptuous, though.
It's a cult. If you don't pay your tithe you don't get into heaven (aka, temple recommend).
I'm not joking, this is dead serious to mormons. I have a great aunt (grand mother's sister) that is in low income housing, she's on welfare. And even she has to pay tithing!
THE MORMON BISHOP AUDITS HER FINANCIALS!
Think of that, ranked member of your religion is examining your financials so that you can get into heaven.
Salt Lake Valley sucks, the closer you get to SLC the shitier it gets. Two blocks away from their Salt Lake Temple are dilapidated buildings, and at night, the vacant lots are filled with homeless people.
If SLC was a person, he'd be walking around with a shoe on his head and hats on his feet. Thats how stupid Mormonism is.
>Don't read this if you are Mormon Why don't we see the plates? **because they are sacred**
What makes them sacred? The metal or the writing? **ummm**
If they are sacred, then why did we get to see Abraham's writings on the Papyrus (Book of Abraham)? Wouldn't the writings from the progenitor of the Jewish Race be more sacred?
>If you're still Mormon after that don't read this Have you gotten your second anointing yet?
>>59824004 Not doctrinally, but I have heard this from other Mormons. Black people were prohibited generally from holding the Priesthood until 1976, with a few exceptions throughout the time of the church. Church leaders met in 1872, 1928, and 1954 to discuss if it was time to allow blacks to hold the priesthood and in prayerful consideration the answer was no. The stated reason was because it wasn't safe for them or the church to have them forwarding ordinances while blacks were being exploited by and then persecuted by greater society.
tl;dr: Black people were seen as lesser people by other Christians, thus negating proselyting efforts if they were allowed to become priesthood holders before the rest of society was doing the same thing. Purely political move, and admitted as such by the Church.
>>59825324 >A state dominated by the LDS church, who also owns Deseret News and KSL, will ignore the people that in the most need and will just gentrify their own areas for pleasure of profit. FTFY
Mormons are three tiers below Moonies (who also share major similarities)
>>59825467 When I was a kid, before "Light-rail" (the big trolley that runs down the middle of the streets in SLC)
SLC was really nice, there were businesses everywhere, the mall was still alive. Light-Rail killed it. The construction alone strangled all the businesses, and trying to force a Mass Transit model on an American Car paradigm destroyed virtually all the businesses down town.
The only ones that survive are the few high-price businesses that cater to the elite that have to live near SLC.
>>59823926 >>59826506 >mormons are bro tier Until you tell them you're not interested in converting. Then they'll ignore you like a son of perdition....
>literally had this happen to me 3 times.
>>59826144 It's not "bad" in essence.... http://mormonstories.org/tom-phillips-and-the-second-anointing/
>TLD Listen >guy is life long mormon >literally friends with the current "Prophet" >get a super secret "Second Anointing" >one of the Twelve Apostles comes to your home and personally invites you and your wife. >you go to your local temple and stay a night (they have hotel rooms in them) >you get your feet washed by an Apostle >your wife washes your feet, then makes up a blessing for you >the Apostle declares "You get into heaven no matter what!" >You and your wife recommend two more couples to get a second anointing
This guy later left LDS church and sent an open letter to the LDS prophet asking simple questions that bothered him...
>>59828161 They used to be polygamous but not anymore.
They believe after the apostles died churches became corrupt and fell from God's teachings but a guy named Joseph Smith was picked by God and Jesus (Mormons believe they're separate beings) was chosen to restore the one true church and bring forth an additional set of scripture called the Book of Mormon that they use as well as the Bible. Some unique elements about them would baptism for the dead, temple rituals, three levels of heaven, and their belief that their leader is an actual prophet who can communicate with God and get revelations and shit.
>>59828161 >What do they even believe in? That Jesus came to America at some point. Joseph Smith had visions and found golden plates that only he could translate. Also black people are black because of sin, salvation through good works and some silly stuff about the American indians. Honestly it's all a bit silly, but members of my particular sect routinely handle deadly snakes and speak in tongues so I can't talk.
>>59828527 They believe their book of Mormon to be an addition to the bible. They believe the bible to be the word of God. It's kinda line having two favorite TV shows but saying you can only be a fan of one of them
>>59829139 To expand on this they believe in the Bible but that it isn't perfect and has been corrupted in parts although they're vague on what parts. They believe the Book of Mormon is the most perfect book on Earth that supplements the Bible and doesn't contradict it. Then you got Doctrine and Covenants where God told Joseph Smith stuff and Pearl of Great Price with the Book of Abraham and Book of Moses and their adventures not mentioned in the Bible.
>muh some group of people who live in isolated communities practice a different faith and share other traditions such as poligamy, that's why they are blasphemous and degenerate.
Fuck off third world monkey, mormons are the nicest people you could ever meet, incest only occurs in very rare cases where the communities are small and is unheard of. Feels good living and fucking with multiple woman
>>59824004 I come from a Mormon family and I believe the story goes that when Lucifer declared war on heaven we was able to convince 1/3 of of all God's children to his cause. Another third took arms against Lucifer and his army and the last third stood by and did nothing. Lucifer's third was cast into outer darkness and the the third the took God's side are the people who are born white. The third that did nothing are the cursed one that are born non-white.
>>59830022 >That's why you'll never accomplish anything, Brazil. No balls. No ambition. What the fuck man! You seriously believe that belonging to a crazy ass snake handling cult and babling in tongues like an autistic retard is the same as having balls or ambition? How fucking retarded can you be?
Follow the holy bible, the one and only path to heaven, or burn in hell you heretic!
>>59830215 When you refer to the Trinity you are taking about those 3. Some religions believe them to be one which is kinda silly. Why would Jesus pray to himself and why would he appear to himself as a dove when he gets baptized?
>>59830528 >And im not scared of snakes at all, I just find that what you believe is fucking blasphemous and heretical, smply because IT IS! “These signs will accompany those who believe: In my name they will . . . pick up snakes with their hands.” Mark 16:17-18 >>59830550 It's a show of faith it means a lot. I'd never do it because I'm not a dumbass but I've had faith healing performed on me.
>>59830919 >You are a blasphemous heretic, just admit it and repent for your sins. "Behold, I give unto you power to tread on serpents and scorpions, and over all the power of the enemy: and nothing shall by any means hurt you" Luke 10:19
>Behold, I have given you authority to tread upon serpents and scorpions, and over all the power of the enemy: and nothing shall in any wise hurt you.
Tread upon serpents ... This was not an inducement to snake-handling, either for the seventy or to the Christians of all ages, but rather an affirmation of God's providence as exerted upon behalf of his servants in all generations. The symbolical meaning of "serpents and scorpions" is primarily "the works of the devil." The key to this verse is the last clause, "nothing shall in any wise hurt you." This is equivalent to the promise in the great commission. "Lo, I am with you always" (Matthew 28:20). Any presumption on the part of God's children is not to be grounded in these promises. While it is true that the apostles and prophets of the New Testament did actually take up poisonous serpents and were bitten without harm (Acts 28:5), there is utterly no example where any person ever did such things on purpose and presumptuously.
What part of "Do not put god to the test" do you retards dont get? Sure, god CAN and WILL save you from the poisonous snakes and scorpions, but out of HIS OWN WILL, you should NEVER try and force god´s hand to perform a miracle out of your own leisure, that is simply blasphemous and heretical.
Get it through that thick skull of yours, every time you are snake handling to "prove your faith", you are actually sinning against god.
>>59823661 Catholic here, some of my best friends are Mormons and I'd sooner convert to whatever their fan fic doctrine is than to a bastardization by becoming a protestant. They're all super nice, funny, their daughters are ridiculously hot, their support system is second to none, and because they can't drink or do drugs they have fun by making homemade explosives and stuff.
I've also never been treated with anything but respect and enthusiasm from their missionaries even though I tell them straight up I'm not going to convert. Hell, sometimes I just invite them inside for a root beer or glass of water and shoot the breeze with them. Seriously though, they're some of the best human beings on the planet and they do a lot of good for a lot of people, be a bro back.
>>59830874 >I've studied Mormonism a bit. Don't you have to wear an apron or get naked in the temple or something like that? Apron yeah, naked no.
>You bang many grillz? Chastity is a virtue for men as well as women. No way around that. Sure, society tells you teenagers will have sex and there's absolutely no stopping it, but they also tell you boys can be girls by wishing real hard.
>Do they gossip and backstab like I hear? Some communities can get pretty toxic. In my experience most of them get along all right.
>You have a years worth of food and gunz and whatnot saved up for the apocalypse? Apocalypse or job loss, yeah, and we tell people to make sure they've got extra cans in the pantry if they can't get a year's supply.
>Did you get better jobs/advancement by being Mormon? In Utah/Idaho maybe, but that's probably more from the networking opportunities anyway. A lot of Mormons are out to prove how tolerant they are.
>Do Mormons know how crazy their doctrine sounds with the planets and being god men and everything? Yeah, but once you believe it everything else starts looking really boring in comparison.
>>59831489 It's just a different form of christianity anon, no need to get in a huff. I'd never pick up snakes cause I'm not a dumbass but I understand why others do. People are always gonna worship differently than you, I mean back in the 50's there were gospel groups singing of the joys of atomic annihilation and how it was God's will that we all die in the great atomic fire. And besides, Catholicism is full of dumb shit too.
>>59830874 >1 There are special garments and 'outfits' you wear in the temple. Different ceremonies require different outfits. They're nothing weird in that they look very much like other religious garments. For baptism for the dead people wear something analogous to jumpsuits. >3 Mormons backstab? Not really. There's a lot of stupid politics in Utah, but for the most part there's no backstabbing. As for gossip, not anymore or less than anyone else. Everyone knows what happens between, within, and to families within the wards though. People are generally supportive and help each-other out at the drop of a hat. >4 Food? Yes. But it's not about the apocalypse, really. Self-reliance and emergency preparedness within and between families is of huge importance to the church. There are also many, many, many warehouses of food, water, and basic goods all around the world that belong to the church. This is probably one of the coolest things about the church. You can read about it here: https://www.lds.org/topics/food-storage?lang=eng >5 Yes, there's a lot of nepotism in the church but rarely is it ever solely nepotism. You get the job by being a hard worker who has the potential and skill. More than usual, men in the church own their own businesses. If you ask them for help finding work they'll put you to work but they expect you to work hard -- no handouts. >6 It's not really that strange, frankly. I've studied all of the major religions -- even those outside of the sphere of Judaism. That said there is a lot of room for degrees of belief in the church. It's okay to disagree with doctrine so long as you don't try to push those views on others within the church. The church's view is that everyone's testimony of the church is different -- everyone has a different magnitude of faith. It's okay to question and investigate. If you're curious this is a low level explanation: https://www.lds.org/ensign/1988/03/comparing-lds-beliefs-with-first-century-christianity?lang=eng .
>>59831732 >Catholicism is full of dumb shit too. Blasphemy! Catholicism is the one true faith! >>59831732 >It's just a different form of christianity anon Your "different form of christianity" is heretical, snake handling is heretical, what part of it do you not understand?
>>59831655 >Yeah, but once you believe it everything else starts looking really boring in comparison.
kek. That's the kind of perspective I can only get from a former Mormon. Never would have thought of that. Makes perfect sense, though.
I can't agree with the religion, but man I wish I could. The perks are so awesome, it looks like a decent life.
Don't you have to go watch certain broadcasts or something that are on satellite? I remember a girl telling me that.
Mormons seem so....innocent....not worldly in a lot of ways...it's just great to see. I have no doubt the leadership is as wicked as they come, but the average person? I wouldn't mind living next to them.
>>59823661 They're very polite, but at the same time, they're rather cold people. They don't like outsiders in their lives and seem rather strict. Almost too strict like the Flanders from the Simpsons minus the diddly and "Everyone burns in hell" attitude. They're essentially a "No fun allowed" group with nice houses and big minivans. Also, the children tend to be hyperactive, and the daughters end up being rebellious sluts.
Also, why are so many Mormons (aside from ones in New Mexico) redheads? It's like they're all redheads for some reason.
>>59823661 I like them as people. Every Mormon I met wasn't preachy about Mormonism once you inform them that you're not interested a lot of times they still want to be your friend or atleast friendly and helpful.
>>59831984 >the Pope is the literal anti-Christ. Current pope IS the anti-Christ, no arguments there.
The armagedoom is about to take place and you are handling snakes isntead of repenting for your sins.
>my snake handling church says Catholicism is heretical Every cult tries to say that and claim to be the true faith, but they are wrong, catholicism is the one true path, always was and always will be.
>>59831975 >It's more like the original form of Christianity, frankly Blasphemy!
>>59823661 My wife and in-laws aren't Mormon but her extended family are, and she grew up in Utah. She's got pretty traditional values, loves having babies, and was easily red-pilled, I think it helped that she was raised in a Mormon community.
She really wants to relocate to Southern Utah where she grew up, but I'm worried about the Mormon nepotism issue when it comes to getting a job.
>>59825374 >>59825374 >>59825374 oh no they're not. I'm engaged to a mormon girl, and i'll tell you they're fucking assholes. They pretend this super virgin awkward niceness, like not 1950s pan america ''respect'' nice, just pure virgin nicenes thats creeper and unnatural. Then when you're gone they talk shit and do what they can to step on your toes
>>59832135 You sound quite bitter. Ex-mormon, maybe? Mormons are no more judgmental than anyone else. Less so in actuality since Mormon children are raised not to belittle others for their religious beliefs (or in general.)
>>59832265 And I bloody well meant that THIS CURRENT POPE IS THE ANTI-CHRIST!
Read the bible man, the anti-christ already walks the earth, we are not even in the beggining of the end anymore, shit is going to hit the fan pretty soon, repent of your sins now and be saved during the reckoning or stay here trapped with the anti-christ ruling the world!
>grew up around 10 Mormon families >all had 7+ children >all white >all were gorgeous (dated 2 of them in hs) >all went on to be successful (one is a neuroscientist, the other upper level management at sanofi aventis)
Mormons are saving the white race and totally based
I'm visiting family here in sandy. SLC is pretty dope from my perspective. All the other fags hating are probably dirt poor. Or only have networked with the dirt poor. Everyone I've met is really nice and well educated. Downtown is just like any other downtown area. It has some homeless and urban feels. The gateway downtown is also pretty nice mall. In contrast to the shit I used to in California. Drive down Wasatch Blvd and try to keep saying its a shithole.
>>59832940 You can trust them as long as they're a minority; As soon as Mormons start to establish a significant presence, they're fucking trying to convert everyone, their cult fuckery begins to leak into the rest of society, and they keep insisting that everyone treat them like they're Christians.
Mormons are the trans of Religion. They're not Christian, but they sure do insist everyone act like it.
>>59833077 Hey, I'm an atheist I really don't give a fuck what Mormons want to call themselves. They suck Jesus's circumcised dick, they might as well be Christians to me.
And trying to convert people, in my mind, should be the MO of people who sincerely believe in the salvation of their faith. Mormons aren't slaughtering their way across continents like Muslims. I have no problems with door knocking evangelizing.
>>59832483 Read http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/0199754071 and http://www.amazon.com/Moroni-Swastika-Mormons-Nazi-Germany/dp/0806146680/ref=pd_bxgy_14_2?ie=UTF8&refRID=1PSRSS8P75W62609Y684
Mormons are literally some of the most patriotic people on the planet, no matter what country they are in. Its practically the 11th Commandment for them.
Also, despite being an international religion at this point (read: multi-ethnic), they still typically prefer to marry within their own races and have a strong history of looking poorly on miscegnation. And the overwhelming majority of Mormons are white.
They are Christianity's next evolution as a faith.
>>59832979 That's kinda hard to elaborate on. You just gotta come here and stick around the better parts of SLC. The people I've met are extended family and neighbors. They've done well in business and even their kids are pretty good entrepreneurs. >Pic related.
While driving out to California with my girlfriend i found the Mormon holy book in a hotel drawer in Arizona. Read it late into the night. It was really weird seeing all that American dialect while talking about Jesus at the same time.
What was great is he took it like a champ and would throw shit back at us from my experience no other person i have known who was religious in any way would take us making fun of there god and say some bants back and have a good time they just got butthurt about it.
>>59833548 I couldn't get that jingle out of my head while visiting family. I'm agnostic atheist. But don't think they know or care. I'm not a part of that atheist plus movement. They are pretty redpilled here. If I was it would probably spell trouble.
>>59834369 Grandfather was convicted of rape or something. Father used to shoot heroin and meth. If I wasn't on my phone I'd greentext a few stories. Doesn't sound like much, I know. If the thread is still up when I get home I'll write out a few.
>>59835559 >>59834800 >>59834557 Any of you watch the BYU channel? Them Mormons make some good tv. There's one show where a guy just goes around knocking on fucking strangers doors asking them to tell their life story.
>>59830055 Race has little, if not nothing, to do with this religion. Ex-mormon here. One third went with satan and the other two-thirds opposed him. The two thirds that sides with god were able to come to earth and experience life. This is known as the pre-existence. So congratulations, you sided with god long ago and possibly killed some satanic demons that were also your brothers. gg
>>59832213 >Current pope IS the anit-Christ, no arguements there wow,you blasphemous motherfucker. You think Benedict was better, letting our faith being tainted by faggot pedophile bishops and fathers? To keep up the stereotype "lol catholic priests touch kids"? You're a fucking heretic.
