As best I understand it, orthodox is almost like saying either progenitor or archaic. Whichever deviates from the original is the non-orthodox, and the original is the orthodox. Roman Catholicism diverged by adding a Pope into the mix, leaving the other churches as the orthodox ones as a result.

I don't understand what you are asking. The Church came before the Bible; the Bible wasn't put together for many-many years after the Crucifixion of Christ. Christianity existed before the Bible is what I am saying.

Sola Scriptura didn't exist until the 1500s.

This is why 'just read the Bible' makes no sense unless you want to disregard the teachings of the Apostles, Church Fathers, etc.
