Canadian here. I'm still fucking pissed about how our government let all of those American planes land at Canadian airports. I remember my mom picked me up and we went to a grocery store, everyone was running around buying supplies I guess "Things are going to change forever because of this," Mom was right, but not like she thought.

I knew people who spent the day wearing body armor and loading magazines, as if they were going to storm the beaches. It was an odd day.

What do you thin would happen, and like anywhere in the world this would vary depending on state, but if I brought a house or an apartment with those flags outside and right in front of the estate agents face, tore the american flag down and put up an ISIS one or something along those lines. Obviously I dont support ISIS, I just wanna know what would happen.

Because if there had been anyone on those planes who were part of the plan, diverting them to Canada would have instantly taken away their ability to pull off their end of it, durr. And even if they'd wanted to do anything in Canada just for the hell of it, they wouldn't have even had the slightest clue where the nearest city was, much less what would be worth hitting. Plus everyone on board knew what was going on so you'd have just had more United 93s and could have taken part in your own patriotic celebrations and had some fun.

Also, aviation has international treaty rules. If Canada had refused to let them land, you'd still to this day have to fly to Toronto or some other border city, and drive across the border to take a US flight to any non-Canadian destination, because no other country would ever trust you enough to allow your planes over their territory.

My coworkers all left. I don't know if they were worried that we were vulnerable or if it was just a snow day for them.

I stayed, on the 18th floor of a 32 story building, exposed, until 7:45 pm, forcing payments to mortgage companies, credit card companies, auto finance companies and more. Fixing the bugs that showed up every day, keeping the wheels of the economy moving, while my countrymen milled about confused outside. Doing the work of five men, handling possibly $2-3 billion in payments.

I went home, drank a six pack, and passed out.

I honestly don't remember anything being too crazy outside of what I saw on TV. I'm from the south, so we already had a generic sense of patriotism in the air before 9/11. Everything felt surreal for about a month and then life slowly normalized.

One thing I did notice and what made me feel uncomfortable, was that everyone who had an opinion on the event was getting that opinion from the media. My high school teachers were repeating the CNN/Fox News propaganda and my friends were getting their opinions from comedy central. Everyone pretended to be an expert on the middle east. For whatever reason, I thought I was the only loser in the world who sat around watching TV all night, so it was weird to hear people repeating the same shit I heard the night before.
