It's an exaggeration to say looks don't matter at all, but yes, women are attracted to status of the man, not the man himself. It's how evolution works: the females select those males that are the best adapted to thrive in the current environment, no matter what the environment is or how exactly those males manage to succeed. It's certainly true for some women. In certain subcultures they are literally all like that and I can see where a guy would come to the conclusion that all (or most) women are like that and that he's really had an epiphany.

But different women are after different things. Some women really are after looks and don't care about anything else what-so-ever. I work in IT. Home base is an office area with cubicles in the middle and offices lining the walls. There is a single woman working there. Just one. Everyone is afraid to deal with her because she's moody. She can be the sweetest most caring person... But if things go even slightly against the way she thinks they should, she is horrible to deal with. I've literally heard her crying on at least one occasion.

EVERY GUY IN THE OFFICE IS A BRO. We laugh. We throw shit over our cube walls at each other. We go to each other for help. Even the guys I don't talk to a lot are cool to interact with when we do. There's only like one or two guys I don't particularly care for, and it's only because they're awkward. They're still great to work with.

I work in an all male factory mechanic shop. 99% of the time it's fantastic. 1% of the time the 4 guys who complain make it pretty miserable. Out of a shop of 32, 4 of us have a problem from time to time. Those 4 are openly ridiculed for being "womanlike" and that keeps them in line most of the time, but bitches will be bitches.

The funniest thing is that all 4 of these guys grew up in broken homes. A handful of other guys had parents divorce after they left home, but these 4 had that before reaching adulthood (although one's mother died when he was 12 or 13, the rest were divorce).

I don't know if there's a correlation in the broader world, but there certainly is at my job.

Regardless of that, it's still better 100% of the time than my previous jobs where there were women present, especially when there were multiple women. I like that this job is both physically strenuous and dangerous. It practically guarantees that women won't even consider it.
