You're here for work, London isn't your only option but its amongst the best for that purpose alone. I live in Northumberland which is the closest county to Scotland and know people who used to get the train down to London on a Sunday and stay there working until Thursday, then take their wages back home. You've got all the issues of being in London, its a god awful place & don't take your impression of the entire UK from it, but for work it's probably one of your best bets tbqh lad.

Try to commute to the city from elsewhere though, so you aren't spending huge amounts on accommodation.

I've lost the drive to visit my old friends at a museum, about an hour away. I've been going every few weeks to help maintain it, cut the grass, etc. I met a few guys there and we've been hanging more often, but the rest of the guys are stuck at the museum every Sunday.

One of them died a few months ago and things haven't been the same. I also get the feeling they think I'm weird - I'm the youngest out of all of them by over half.

Yes, pfiser, gsk, roche, novartis are all excellent to have on your c.v especially if you have it in the time you are meant to be at university. Year placements are good as are part time employments, the bare minimum to have is employment whilsts studying as it shows you're a hard worker studying and working at the same time.

You need something that will make your cv stick out really, everybody has a degree applying to the jobs you'll want. Volunteer work is also good, but anything that says leadership is a sure winner. Speak to your lecturers/professors/mentors at uni about other avenues for cv building.

I addition to this, my advice would be to ask your lecturers if they have any general dogsbody work available during the summer. If it's a research uni, they'll sometimes have shit that needs done without too much responsibility but which looks good on a CV. Given that this is 2 years (correct me if I'm wrong), this is simply a possibility, a practical one but there's probably better.
