The FPÖ leadership is clearly very radical, but does not act on it. Publicly acting right wing would definitely cost them a few percent and that is not what they want.
Just consider this: Many if not most of the important guys are part of Pennälerverbindungen or right wing college fraternities. If you have any insight into these you know that their political thoughts are quite radical at times.
Its the same as with the green party. While they pose as left-liberal, pretty much all of their members are or were hard core left wingers at some point.
