BEIRUT, LEBANON (10:15 P.M.) – The media wing of the Ha’yat Tahrir al-Sham terrorist group has released footage from a Hezbollah drone that their forces managed to shoot down and capture in western Qalamoun.

The footage, shot from the point of view of the drone’s camera, shows the armed drone launching off from a Hezbollah base on some high point in the rugged western Qalamoun countryside and flying off to target HTS forces.

The drone, flying from quite high up, drops its first mortar shell without event, however, after another minute, it takes on fire. Right before beginning a rapid uncontrolled spiral towards the ground, the drone manages to drop its last mortar round.

Obviously the camera of drone survived the event and its footage has since been watermarked by HTS media and released on the internet.

A US move to expand sanctions against Russia may have an adverse impact on Europe’s energy security, hurt the German economy, and appears to favor American firms, says Volker Treier, chief economist at the German Chambers of Commerce and Industry (DIHK).

“The European Commission now must make efforts to shed light on the current situation, as well as resist the exterritorial effect of new US penalties. We get the impression the US pursues their own economicc interests,” he told in an interview with TASS.

“If German firms are banned from participating in gas pipeline enterprises, very important projects in the energy supply security sector can be halted. In that case, the German economy will be discernibly influenced,” Treier said.

The future of the Nord Stream-2 natural gas pipeline project from Russia to Germany is of particular concern to Europeans. Roughly a third of the European Union's natural gas supply still comes from Russia. The proposed expansion would double the existing pipeline's capacity and make Germany EU's main energy hub.

There are suspicions the US government is introducing the new sanctions against Russia to boost exports of American natural gas to the European market.

EU top court rules that Austria, Slovenia can deport asylum seekers
The European Court of Justice (ECJ) has ruled that refugees must continue to seek asylum in the first European country they reach, even in exceptional circumstances like the migrant crisis of 2015, CNN reported. The ECJ ruled Wednesday that Austria and Slovenia were entitled to deport two Afghan families and a Syrian who applied for asylum to Croatia, the first EU nation they entered. The court’s decision opens up the possibility of the deportation of hundreds of asylum seekers who arrived in Europe in 2015 and early 2016.

Ukraine says UK court suspends judgment until appeal of $3bn Russia bond ruling
A London court has agreed to a request from Ukraine to suspend judgment in a $3 billion Eurobond case brought by Russia until Kiev’s appeal against the verdict is concluded, Reuters reported Wednesday, citing the Ukrainian Finance Ministry. It said the appeal would be heard by the English Court of Appeal in January 2018. The Russian Finance Ministry confirmed the date of appeal, saying on Wednesday that the High Court of London was more specific about its verdict of March 29, 2017, made in favor of Russia and which bound Ukraine to pay £2.8 million to Russia in compensation of legal costs, TASS said. Russia bought Ukrainian Eurobonds worth $3 billion in December 2013. Ukraine defaulted on Eurobonds in December 2015.

26 Afghan soldiers killed in Taliban assault - official
An Afghan official says 26 soldiers have been killed in a blistering Taliban assault on an Afghan National Security base in southern Kandahar province. Mohammad Radmanish, Defense Ministry’s deputy spokesman, said Wednesday the Taliban assault overnight in Khakrez district left another 13 soldiers wounded. Ahmed is the co-president of the Syrian Democratic Council, the political wing of the US-backed Kurdish-led force. “If the Americans want to protect the security of these areas… they must continue until a democratic system is built in Syria,” she said.

Top EU court keeps Hamas on EU terror list, refers case back
The EU’s top court ruled on Wednesday that Palestinian Islamist movement Hamas should remain on the EU terrorism blacklist, referring the case back to a lower court. BEIRUT, LEBANON (10:50 P.M.) – The Syrian Arab Army’s elite Tiger Forces continue their massive broad-front sweep across the desert flat-lands of southeastern Raqqa, today liberating two more key sites along the way to Deir Ezzor.

After liberating the village of Rasm Sulieman yesterday afternoon, the Tiger Forces have since moved on to secure the village of al-Kharrar and the nearby hilltop of Tall al-Kharrar.

Of particular importance in all of this is the hilltop of Tall al-Kharrar because it overlooks the villages of Zawr Shammar and Ghanim Ali.

The entire push in this direction is part of an eastwards swing towards from the desert expanses towards the lush Euphrates farming belt which straggles the length of the great river.

Furthermore, as part of today’s advance, an individual soldier within the Tiger Forces released footage of his unit gearing up at a stop point in the desert and then recommencing its advance.

Syria's main border crossing with Turkey reopened on Wednesday, days after it was closed because of fighting between two rival jihadist groups, a monitoring group said.
The Syrian Observatory for Human Rights added that trucks carrying food supplies were seen crossing over.

"The Bab al-Hawa crossing opened Wednesday for travellers between the two countries," said Rami Abdel Rahman, the Observatory head.

There were fierce clashes at the crossing last week between Hayat Tahrir al-Sham, an alliance linked to al-Qaeda, and Ahrar al-Sham, a powerful Islamist group, as part of their armed rivalry in Syria's north-western province of Idlib.

Both groups later agreed to a ceasefire and the handover of the crossing to a Syrian civilian administration, which is coordinating with Turkey.

The administration confirmed the reopening on its kikebook page.

>BREAKING: Syrian Army completely dominates ISIS-held town of al-Sukhnah with fire control
BEIRUT, LEBANON (11:30 A.M.) – The Syrian Arab Army (SAA), spearheaded by the 5th Assault Corps and backed-up other pro-government forces, have just established full fire control over the ISIS-held town of al-Sukhnah in eastern Homs.

Today the SAA and its allies advanced deep into the very last mountain chain that stands before them and total fire control over all approaches to the the strategic town. In doing so, pro-government forces secured all key hilltops within the mountain chain, moved to within seven kilometers of al-Sukhnah and established total fire control over it.

With every howitzer, rocket launcher and field gun available to the 5th Assault Corps about to be trained on al-Sukhnah, any attempt by ISIS to try fight for the town would only result in unnecessarily high losses for the terrorist group and, even then, it could not hope to hold onto the settlement.

With this being said, al-Sukhnah is expected to be abandoned by ISIS within a matter of hours and left for pro-government forces to liberate. It is quite possible that the town is heavily mined with explosive traps.

The specific operation carried out by pro-government forces today which resulted in the securing of the last hills before al-Sukhnah resulted in the death of dozens of ISIS fighters and the destruction of five vehicles belonging to the jihadist faction.

The public prosecution department said last week that Laura Hansen should no longer be held in a high security jail and that it no longer considers that she was sent back to the Netherlands to carry out a terrorist attack. Hansen has been ordered to wear an electronic tag, must report regularly to the probation services and has been banned from contacting the media or her husband, who remains in IS territory. Hansen, from Zoetermeer, has been held in the high security jail in Vught since last August, having fled via Kurdish territory with her two young children with the help of her father. She claims she was tricked into going to Syria by her husband after the family left for what she believed was a holiday in Turkey and has since renounced Islam.

The unnamed teenager allegedly yearned to "become a martyr" and had received instructions on how to use weapons from the terrorist's stronghold in the Middle East.

The girl, from London, also allegedly tried to enlist another person to launch the attack after being in contact with the Isis insurgent between 1 December 2016 and 12 April 2017.
