As far as i'm concerned mods have been 'infiltrated' for a long ass time. My experiences on /v/ near 10 years ago showed me the mass amounts of viral marketing going on in the board. I don't see why political affiliations wouldn't use the same methods for spreading ideologies. The methods wouldn't differ much.
