Mr Kebede friend Eshete Meried said the 44-year-old taxi driver originally from Ethiopia, escaped the building - but was still in shock.

Speaking exclusively to MailOnline, Mr Meried said: 'Behailu did raise the alarm, that is what I am hearing.

Speaking today from emergency accommodation close to the scene of the disaster, Mr Kebede told of his distress at witnessing the very beginning of the inferno, which it is feared to claimed more than 100 lives.

He told MailOnline: 'I am very upset'. Asked whether the fire started in his flat by MailOnline Mr Kebede replied: 'I'm busy, I'm busy. Goodbye.'

Prime Minister Theresa May has promised a 'proper investigation' after the building went up in flames early on Wednesday morning amid growing concerns about how the fire could have spread so rapidly.

My first visit to London I stayed with a Danish friend who lived in a complete and total shithole apartment complex that had a community kitchen and bathroom. Get your head examined. There were many Muslims that died in this fire and might prove to be the majority considering based on names some full families of Muslims died. Many of those Muslims who died were also told to stay in their apartments and wait for rescue.

In the early 20th century, some fridges were heat pumps driven by heat engines. That is, a gas-powered engine would provide the mechanical work provided to drive the heat pump.
