I'm guessing these are the same photographer so I'll compare and contrast them

The first one is ok, it's always a nice trick to smooth out water with a long shutter speed so it appears ethereal. But it's still pretty bland.

The second is much better. The person on the right is the perfect counterbalance between her very natural surroundings.
Not sure if you planned it that way but red is the perfect color for it. The natural green mixing and fighting with the unnatural red is perfect.
Yet, despite these conflicts, she appears peaceful. Her gesture suggests no alarm or fear, only a benign pleasantness.

Overall they're both OK, but the second one is clearly superior. Much better balance.

Actually I keep my photos in fullres RAW so it's a lot more than that.

But I also don't want to keep any photos in my portfolio if they're mediocre or bad. If they are I'll just delete it and keep the compressed one tucked away somewhere.

You haven't been there that long

It's neat on a technical level and maybe tells a bit of a story but overall it's pretty bland

compare it to >>3111568 by the same guy, which is a much better pic. Whereas the first one uses internal framing to tell us a cute little story about home and comfort, >>3111568 is much more focused on opposition, on negativity, which I think is more interesting.

When I first opened it I thought I was looking at a composite of some long-finished war from however many years ago. The people were soldiers manning their cannons. But the pic is way too peaceful for that; so then i looked closer and saw that no, it's tourists at some historical attraction. From that you maybe get another story about the past and the future, and how things that once seemed massive and important become lowly and dull over time.

I like it because it makes me feel worse, if that makes any sense.

Of course, that's all just my opinion

I didn't already say that I like this, which is why I catch up on that. Why I like it? I don't know but I can guess. All lines intersect in one point. The buildings as they are sharp and have good contrast catch the eye and lead it to the people, to find more to explore. The chair is just there to bring in tension. Essentially it is just annoying, however, without it the foreground would be empty and the image unbalanced. It is in juxtaposition also because it is unoccupied.
