don't forget to jpeg dude

what's it like composing a shot with one of these things
>>
>>2764390
Not him, but it can be a chore depending on conditions or it can be easy as hell. DJI's features like hover-holding take a little of the piloting skill out of the equation, but not as much as one would like to think.

I also find the camera controls a little too touchy on DJI's stuff.
>>

Its true the controls are a bit touchy
However the gimbal on the Phantoms are pretty nice and ive never had a crooked or blurred shot.

I'll agree here, but add the caveat that I've only dealt with the Inspires (the newest one with ilc is awesome, btw).

On a personal note, with aerial stuff, I find it much more difficult to pre-visualize a shot and find myself having to hunt for a shot. Usually good shots do present themselves fairly rapidly, but for me it's an entirely different thought process than with taking photos from the ground.

Totally agree, aerial photography in general is a whole different game. Usually though i go out with the intention to film, and i stumble across what would look like a wonderful shot and i switch it into camera mode and take a couple. Also the inspire is fucking amazing, mad jelly.

Don't be too jelly, I just got to fly one around a dozen times for a guy I know. I don't even have a phantom yet. My only drones are much smaller quads (which'll really make you appreciate how stable something like a phantom/inspire is). I'd love to play around with a spreading wings one day...

Oh shit, speaking of, have you seen this yet?

Wait...that might be the wrong link...let me look again. There's a drone that's about to hit the market that can transition from fixed wing flight to vtol

Ah, here it is:

the top speed and battery life blew me away.
id deff buy it if i had the spare cash. speaking of new drones, Gopro is releasing one called karma
>>
>>2764633
Huh? Apparently GoPro is in trouble:

>>
>>2764641
>>2764641
that karma would have to be cheap and better than the phantom series in order for them to dig themselves out of that hole.

Are there some budget tier drones out there that I could purchase in europe?

I might even just use a cheap drone and fasten a gopro to it...
>>
>>2764692
While I looking up the list of decent stuff out there, let me give you this thought to chew on:

Go to some big box store and buy one of those $30 nano drones. Fly it for a while, and use that to decide if flying them is for you. The bigger ones are more stable and easier to fly, but not as much as you'd like to think.

Here's a good discussion...and also note that older Phantoms can be purchased pretty cheaply these days. You should be able to get almost anything listed in Europe too.

Just know that once you go big, they are not a fucking toy, they will chop people up and fuck property up if they crash.
>>
Also disclaimer, check your local and your Country's laws on drone use.

If you live in the states you have to register anything that is heavier than .55 pounds, which is like 2 sticks of butter. Costs 5 bucks.

Check the FAA for no fly zones as well.

On top of that in the US you cannot use it for commercial use unless you apply for a FAA 333 exemption, so if youre caught selling pictures/footage without it, i assume you'll get buttfucked.
