despite what /p/ will tell you, a quality image comes from a talented artist, not a more expensive camera with high numbers on a test chart.

The ISO was most likely higher on the left picture. ISO controls the sensitivity of your sensor, controlling how it reacts to light. The higher your ISO, the brighter your pictures. ISO 100 won't give you good results in the dark, while ISO 16000 does .. for a price though: noise. The sensor noise is what you see in your picture, the ISO was simply too high and the sensor couldn't really take it anymore.
