fix your white balance. pic related, could have much better results with the raw
too long exposures make star trails
find a place -really- away from the city.

I have crazy trouble with white balamce on night shots. It always seems like something looks off.
Okay, can somebody explain to me how you shoot at night in raw format? I don't get it. What do I do with exposure/shutter speed/aperture/iso?
I'm using a Canon Powershot G11
>>2747209
Manual, widest possible aperture, 800 ISO or so (I assume that camera has bad noise at higher ISO), widest possible focal length, and the focal length divided by 500 is how many seconds you can expose without star trails.
RAW is just a filetype. If your camera can shoot it, use it. Just means there's a load more data in the image to mess with. RAW has nothing to do with the camera photo settings.
>>2747227
do I just leave my exposure at 0?
>>2747230
As in EV comp? Yes. Or try with it +1. See how it looks. Experiment.
>>2747231
Ah okay. What should the shutter speed be set at?
>>2747237
focal length divided by 500
So say you shoot at 35mm... 35mm / 500 = 14 seconds
I'll contribute with my pics, I live in a city and mostly have free time at night, it's not the most optimal for astro, but I would be glad to have some C&C. My WB also feels kinda off.

How much difference can the astrotracer on the k3ii make for astrophotography? I'm probably going to go full meme but the k3 is so much cheaper than the k3ii. I'm interested in astrophotography though, so if it can make a good amount of difference I'd be tempted
