I been meaning to since I see them everywhere but I'm not really educated just yet to poison myself. Not only to see elves but to sustain myself from them too

Nope. Just ate shrooms for the first time recently and didn't have any visuals. So I want to trip harder haha.
Can anyone confirm my op pic and this one as gymnopilus?
>>
>>666756
What Was it growing on? What do the gills look like? Is the spore print reddish brown? Could very well be
>>
>>666776
Saw op pic. Gyms should grow on wood and in clumps like that.

Thats a Gropyspotus, known commonly as a field mushroom!

Eat it friendo :)

Golden chantrelles. I've never seen those, but supposedly they grow in my area. I'm really hoping to find some on my way through Oregon this year.

>>666548
Why does somebody a ways post aminitas in edible mushroom threads? Its easily the most identifiable poisonous mushroom. And the filename?

Can anyone reference a good book or website based on mushroom identification? Specifically poision and trip shrooms? I'm having a hard time find a site that doesn't just say hey they're cool go fuck yourself.
>>
>>668042
>Hey they're cool, go fuck yourself.

That's because the people who do it don't want A) to get sued for wrong or incomplete information resulting in poisoning. And B) don't want any more competition, because it's hard to find that shit already.

Iktf though. Wikipedia probably has a map of areas each shroom grows in, and identifiable characteristics. You just need to know the name of what you're looking for and trust your life to a peer created, peer reviewed website.

Check around online for books by Stamets, he's a good mycologist.

I collected those chanterelles near my house in Mississippi. I usually sell some to the local restaurants; easy way to make some extra cash.

Came across this the other day in a cemetery, of all places.

I enjoy going out, finding some Calvatia gigantea that are frozen. Reminds me of ice cream and makes for a cheeky nibble. Whatcha know about that?
>>
>>668151
I bet. Any licenses required? Do you get full value ($~20/lb)?

It's something I've been wanting to do while traveling to help supplement cash. Ideally, I'd like to not have to return to the day job.
>>
Does anyone recognize these? Got them from an experienced mushroom hunter but he didn't say what they were. The bag is all these and then two large flat types. Just interested in these today.
>>
>>668805
No license required (at least to my knowledge). Some places will pay me $20/lb. Others pay less. Still, I collected the amount in >>666537 in a half hour, so it's pretty easy cash.
>>
>>668891
Very cool. I'm looking forward to really getting out there this year. So far all I've been able to do is read about it. Any tips?
>>

Amanita Muscaria/Fly Amanita. Also known as the "berserker mushroom".
Stay away from them. Most of the time they'll be infested with maggots. And on top of that, they'll get you massively fucked up in a horrible, horrible way.

>>
>>669087
I'm from NorCal and those don't ring a bell. Where exactly are you?
>>
>>669087
Spore print would be ideal, but you should at least be showing us the under sides so we know if it's gilled or polypore, possibly another angle on it as well.
>>
>>669157
Also, if you know what it was growing on, that can be helpful.

location is very important too, but you already said Norcal, right?
>>
>>669157
>>669158
Yeah, sorry about the piss-poor image. The underside's gilled, and it was growing on a stump and some rocks.
Yeah, NorCal.

-When harvesting chanterelles, cut them off close to the ground. This allows them to regrow more quickly. DON'T PULL THEM OUT OF THE GROUND.
-Also, if you find one chanterelle, there are bound to be more around. Search carefully and thoroughly.
-Know what you're looking at. False chanterelles are common here. If you're in doubt, don't pick/eat.
