I've never bought a knife before, always used a plain finnish marttiini knife my whole life. Now I am looking for something else, something plain but elegant. I found this one which is from Pakistan, hand made of damascus steel. However the price seems very low for a custom knife, or is it just how the market is? This one has been sold but I'm considering to contact the maker to ask if he can make a knife by the same pattern. Also, does anyone know of any good stone knapping books? I want to learn to make arrow and spearheads aswell as knife blades from natural glass and stone as I believe that in a real "happening" learned skills are more valuable than tactical gear bought online. This is my first post on /out/ thanks

this is a nice detail but ultimately not going to be used, might even ask the maker to not include this feature

Damascus is just a finish to what is basically weak carbon steel. You could get something better at Wal-Mart.

modern damascus steel is just pattern welded and of variable quality. The historic damascus steel had a reputation for holding edges and being very plastic without shattering. It was more of a chemical process to make the ingots. I'd avoid modern stuff and especially cheap ones. I'd stick with Finnish knives. They are usually very good.

Agree with this. Pick up a nice Leuku. The knife you have shown is a fighter not utility; useless innawoods, not to mention Pakishit.
Look to the Scandinavian makers for price and quality. A H.I. kukri would also be a good choice.

Looks like shit. Pakistan produces shit. Only purpose for a knife like that is for fighting. You're better off taking that piece of shit to /k/ and not /out/ get a real knife like esee, becker, busse, Ontario.
