Current bike is 2008 Yamaha FZ-6. It had a clutch and engine issue from previous owner, so I had an engine replaced a few months ago putting it at 14k+ miles for $1.5k. I bought it a year ago with 48k for $3k. High beams don't work, but I think that's a quick fix. I'd like to at least make my initial money back on it, but the interested party is a friend and I don't wanna overprice. Is $4.5-$5k too much?

As for upgrade, I'm looking for an R1. What years are the best for used and what's a reasonable price? I found a couple ' in my area for $5.8k < 20k miles.

I can find fz6's of your vintage for around 4500 with 1700 miles.

Slow speed drops by touching the front brake whilst turning, too much hectic lean and losing traction, braking too harshly and locking the front, hitting wet paint/gravel/oil etc. and low siding. Blind cager taking you out. All seem to be common themes in crash compilations. No, Ducati makes a fine motorcycle. They are not as expensive as you think. Yamaha R1M is more expensive than most.
I've owned a few Ducs in addition to many other bikes. Never had a mechanical problem aside from a $15 voltage regulater on a 916. They are not shit, they are not unreliable.
They *do* put out a shitload of heat. The superbikes are like straddling a bbq. Their clutches are abnormally heavy. But they are not shit bikes.

Nothing wrong with Honda, but they *used* to make more interesting fare. I miss the days of the VTR1000, RC45, RC51... all of which I owned and loved.

Duc service intervals are a lot longer than they used to be. HOWEVER, the Panigale needs to be completely disassembled to do damn near any service since it has no frame really. Expect to pay a good bit more in shop hours because of the frameless shit.
