Good thing we've got LED turn signals and single sided swingarms!!!

You can attach a $5 Casio to the handlebars or stick it on the dash. Nobody needs a fuel gauge when you have a tripmeter.

I'll admit it's a good-looking bike, and maybe it's a good beginner bike. However, with the price of them and how shiny they are, it'd be a shame if you dropped or crashed one -- which beginners tend to do. Therefore, the GS 500 is actually the better (best) beginner bike.

A 2015 like mine? Sure, but I wasn't a beginner. There's a fair few <2012 revos floating around getting a bit long in the tooth, I wouldn't say a drop would be that big a deal.
>>
>>17722988
Who said I was hoarding money? The money you don't spend on fixing superficial damage on your precious little princess bike is money you can spend on actually having fun by going to a track or riding into trucks.

>>17722990
Nothing wrong with getting one as a beginner (it's a waste of money but that's your decision if you want to be a dumb fuck) or as an experienced rider. It's just not the BEST beginner bike.

It's pretty easy to see who is full of shit.

I never give out a number or Email on the first question, use the Clist Email relay as much as possible.

Damn near everybody has Email running on their phone. Answer an inquiry relayed to you ASAP folks that cant be bothered to reply promptly to a response from you are highly suspect and you might as well toss that email in the trash.
Always set up appointments to look at the bike on your schedule not theirs, if you are that desperate to sell, prepare for the lowball. I always price my stuff fairly ( my shit is in good condition, I take care of my bikes ). and put firm in my ad, a offer lower than my price gets a " no thank you " and that is the end of it.

My cheap summer riding gloves made by Icon always leave these imprints in my hands for like 15-20 minutes after taking them off after a ride. It's not a big deal at all, but I'm wondering if anyone here knows how to reduce this effect?

It looks like they are too small for my hands, but they feel comfortable and the next size up had tons of empty space around my hands.

Bike noob here. I'm about to get my motorcycling license and I was thinking about getting a scooter for commuting. >>
>>17724010
Yes. 2strokes of the era didn't have powervalves in the exhaust to aid in low rpm running/torque.
It was all or nothing. Which, coupled with spindly frames and tires of the era, made them...uhh.."exciting" to ride.

and lots of people died.

If its free, take it. Spend time restoring it. But for gods sake learn to ride on something else if you want to live.
>>
>>17724010
It's not that they have ungodly power that makes it a challenge.

They are a high strung 2 stroke with the accompanying hair trigger power that comes on pretty hard when they hit a certain RPM, a new rider is likely to have a problem dealing with this. The frame is a bit of a wet noodle too, it does not track well in a corner and will need constant corrections to maintain your line.

There are much better bikes to learn on when your skills are nil.
>>
>>17724010
Yes, you would probably be better off with a brand new 200hp literpeter because at least they have frames, brakes, and tires capable of handling their power. There are plenty of bikes called widowmakers, but "the widowmaker" is the Kawasaki 2 stroke triples.

Guys
Guys I had a brainwave
My car has a digital fuel efficiency dial that shows the current mpg. It seems like it's a rolling average over past 1-3 seconds or so. There's no way it's deriving that from measuring the fuel level in the tank, right? It's probably coming from a sensor in the fuel pump or something. That means it's possible to record instantaneous fuel consumption over time.
Wouldn't it work to use the time integral of that dataset as a reasonably accurate measure of total fuel consumed? And because sloshing doesn't affect it, it would work well on bikes?

It's not a horse. She used to have a horse's corpse posessed by her ghost which made it move, then she replaced the corpse with a bike she found on a junkyard. It's not horse transfromed to a bike, it's a bike taken instead of a horse.

At the end of the month I'm going to be road tripping from Portland to LA down Highway 101. I've never gone on a long trip (more than 200 miles) on my bike before.

Anyone done this ride before? Any general tips to help me out?

I've heard that it rains all the time in the north east. That sounds quite awful.

The strange thing is that people here seem to be deathly afraid of rain. You would think they would be use to it by now.

I learned how to ride on a Buell Blast. I dropped that thing more times than I can remember. I broke off all of the signals and mirrors. I was practicing in a parking lot by making low speed maneuvers.

I also crashed a lot making turns around the neighborhood.

I even had to learn that when you flip the fuel valve to "reserve", that means "get gas, dip shit".

Hey br/o/s, any opinions on 1998-1999 kawasaki zx9r?

I have to sell my ike and car to get money, and I have seen that this bike sells stupidly cheap on my area. Read that it is big, comfy and more road oriented than its rivals. I like that.

I am still young and want to experience a powerful sports bike before getting too old.

1k€ for a 70000km one sounds too much? I understand it would need some tlc.

WOT will definately get your attention when it comes on the pipe.

The thing is they are totally gutless off pipe, it makes you TWIST more throttle in to get it going and then all of a sudden it's making 3 times more HP that it was 1/4 of a second ago.

Newer 2 strokes don't have this problem and are much easier to keep a handle on.

By all means ( well it fucking free so just say yes ) get the bike but please spend some time on something else to start with, it doesn't have to be years but at least until you aren't THINKING about your riding.

Somebody mentioned it ( /b/ ) on a forum after they posted a funny pic, it may have been off topic anandtech, I can't recall exactly because....well I'm old.

It would have been about 77 or so, GP died in 75 and we were visiting GM, I was bored, used to ride with GP all the time on a trail 70 when we would visit. Asked GM if I could ride GP's 175 around the property and after ripping up and down the driveway a few times I made the left at the end and off I went.

The V7s don't hold their value very well, You can get a low milage fairly recent ( less that 3 or 4 years old ) stone for about 5k.

It was a green arrow to be specific. I dunno if other places has them or not but its an additional light on a traffic light which means you can turn asap and you have the right of way.
so

>approaching intersection
>green arrow hits and im still kinda far away
>if I speed up I can make it by the time the arrow goes yellow
>speed up
>brake before intersection but im going way too fast for wet conditions
>lose control
>still have momentum and im almost halfway through intersection
>brake hard and wipe out

additional details, my leg was stuck underneath the bike. A guy came running up and said "I gotcha dont worry" and a few people came to my aid. I wheeled my bike to the side and some guys came to a nearby parking lot and helped me out. Asked if I wanted to leave bike there and they'll drive me home. I declined cause I was far away, I asked if they had any tools to unfuck my gear shifter, they didnt but one found a wooden post and he used that to pry it so I could actually shift. Really nice guys, offered em a case of beer but they declined.

Gear helped out a lot, I would have fucked my elbow and shoulder if it werent for the additional absorb pads. Helmet took a ding, would have fucked my jaw if I wasnt wearing full face. Only self injury was my knee got scraped badly and my ankle is a bit sore. Going to buy kevlar jeans next pay.

funny I said before not too much detail , anyways Im off for the night, ride safe everyone.

This ramp on my daily commute is so annoying. It starts off very gentle then tightens up before suddenly straightening out. It doesn't flow at all. It's almost like the two pieces of highway don't line up properly. A bit like a shitty highway in a city building game.
