Why did this happen? I've only ever ridden nakeds, adventure bikes and sports/sports tourers and none of them behaved like this when hitting a speed bump fast enough to get air.

Is it a risk with all cruisers or just Harleys and their ilk?
>>
>>17654453
Yeah I hate bikes working like they're supposed to, too
>>
>>17654454
It's just a huge speedbump, front end was going down while the rear was hitting it and he was going way too fast. Has nothing to do with the type of bike

Some are way too big for their own good. I bottom out the suspension in my work car if I hit some at the speed limit. Have to slow down to 10 km/h in a 30 to go over them and not get air.

What do you guys think of the Yamaha XT600E? the 89 was my first bike, but after it got stolen I picked up a 92, which I'm still working on getting running. Fuel tank is all rusty and has holes through it, any cheap ideas as to where to get a plastic one/making one out of HDPE?
>>

>>
>>17654594
Was thinking maybe you guys had more insight into it than I do. Reliability/maintenance, upgrades?

I didn't get to enjoy my previous one much, maybe 2000 miles on the previous one, and haven't ridden this for a mile yet, so I don't have any experience to say more about it.
>>
>>17654589
Wish I had a cute twink roomate.
Would totally make him ride with me, then on me.
All I get is regular gay guy roomate.
>>
>>17654603
Don't know anything about that one in particular, but it looks like your average dirtbike, so I'd figure it'd be the same for reliability and maintenance as any other. Which is good and decently cheap, respectively.
>>
>>17654549
thank god he didn't get the termignoni. ugliest aftermarket there is for that bike but so many people have them because they're endorsed by ducati or whatever.

they're also like 70% more expensive than the other ones

Thanks man! I'm excited but I think it would be in my best interest to learn without the side car so I might just get the parts bike running first to learn there. That Sidecar bike is like built around being just that. The front wheel was brought closer, all the tires are flat instead of rounded, etc. all the parts bike needs is to have its motor that was taken out out back in. Which I also received.

I was actually thinking of buying that but I talked myself out of it cause I won't be able to afford insurance on 2 bikes. parts don't seem to bad to find, just that they are all from the states. i wanna be a hooligan on the streets and be able to just ride to the trails.

it seems like it would hold value well because of being a rare street legal 2 stroke

The 2017 peaks at 12k rpm I think. I also think the 90s version was in I4 and the 2017 isn't. Plus it's 2 HP weaker and ~6.4 Nm less peak torque.

Having never rode either who knows maybe the 2017 balls just as hard but I suspect it does not quite live up to its predecessors.

It is a fucking sexy bike I will give it that, and I'm sure it's still a blast to ride.

I ride this thing, should be fine.

Only thing that worries me is that the highlands are among the most uninhabited parts of Europe so there aren't many petrol stations. Should I carry spare fuel?

people only buy adv bikes for the look and the upright posture (hence why old men only like them) You couldnt possibly hope to use one of them offroad.
>>
>>17655479
Depends how used to riding in the rain you are. If you've never done it before and don't know how adding fear ontop of that will just make it more dangerous and unpleasant. Especially if you don't have rain gear, forget it if you dont. You'll get chilled and hypothermia. I rode on the highway at 40mph in a storm for a few hours and when I took off my pants my dick was 1inch and pale white. I'm sure all my sperm froze to death that night. Hypothermia is serious, it impairs your brain function just like alcohol. You don't realize it until it's too late. Go by car if you must but frankly I'd reschedule if I were you.

I'll have you know I'm 150% above my ethnical average and that's not even taking into consideration the antidepressants and phimosis I have which would add some length and girth. I bet you measure from the balls up too instead of the proper shaft measurement to compensate. I also bet you carry around a gun or knife because you have small penis and never been laid before. I bet a girl couldn't even use two hands to jerk you off if she wanted to. So stop projecting kiddo unless youre gonna post a timestamp with your social security card next to it. Probably part of it. I'm very peaceful and happy when I'm stoned. Unless it's K2, which I got paranoid and aggressive on and pulled a knife on some drug dealer. Afterwards I got lost walking in a circle around the town and when my psychosis reached maximum I took off all my clothes and Harley Davidson(tm) boots and walked around in the street riding an invisible motorcycle doing wheelies. At the end the cops found me screaming and sobbing infront of someones house thinking I killed 19 people and took me to the hospital where I shit myself five times while lying on the bed and the staff decided to fuck with me by telling me there weren't any clean sheets or diapers left. They also sent me home barefoot and still high and I had to walk a couple hours until me feet were bleeding.

Sadly yes, in a street setting at least.
But still an amazing bike that will bring you joy for years.
>>
>>17656649
If a street setting means going WOT until you're used to it, and not enjoying those 90 degree corners to their fullest
>>
>>17656647
>>17656649
No you won't. You'll never become faster than that bike is capable of, unless you're a professional. Nearly any 600-750 sport standard is more than capable of anything the average consumer will be capable of doing.
>>17656656
If one is just doing that, then they should just buy a V-max and do highway pulls until they realize that going straight fast is boring.

>>
>>17656671
True. At that point you can shave off the lobes on the bottom of the pegs, or your could buy rearsets or adjustable rearset pegs if you're fawncy.
Or if you're scraping pegs at the track, buying a 600 supersport will do fine for most people. Most of those people will buy the liter anyway.
>>
>>17656675
Indian has the same thing on the Scout, it's pretty retarded but it works because 90% of cruiser riders will never touch redline.

It would be nice to know where it is without opening up the owners manual or bouncing off of it..
>>
>>17656729
https://youtu.be/GKDN3okg4ko
Why not?
It's nice to have a high amount of power on demand for highway use. But let's be fair, a 600 does that well enough. You'll have more pull than most everything except for modified cars and sports cars.
>>
>>17656754
Just let people do what they want with their bikes. Too many people are busy telling other people how to ride or what to ride.

Fact is, a liter bike is faster than a 600. If somebody wants to go faster than a 600, then go right ahead.
>>
>>17656767
Fact is though, the vast majority of people could just improve their skill on a mid size bike and get faster. Buying a liter won't make you faster if you aren't an advanced rider.
>>
Minimalism is fucking dumb. Buy only what you need... oh your needs changed, buy again.
Being scared of your bike is dumber, except for 750cc+ riders who venture into the rain without traction control or rider modes.

The actual biggest criteria for buying a bike are your ability to perform and keep up with the maintenance/repairs and comfort. A bike's no good if it doesn't run, and really no good if you can't ride it for more than 30 minutes without stopping to pop your back, stretch your legs, and shake out your wrists.

Thought on Ninja 300?

I can get a 2013 one for 2500

meant to get 80 mpg
>>
>>17656782
the vast majority of people, given a dry track, could improve their skill on literally any bike granted the lean angle isn't artificially limited by stupid placement of hard bits. you don't need a smaller bike or a bigger bike, you just need a bike and a safe place to ride the shit out of it.

>>17656788
it's okay if you can't afford gas and insurance but it's pretty slow, but still fast enough to fuck you over in 4 seconds going into a sharp corner
>>
>>17656782
And if they just want to go fast not but not corner aggressively?

And they will be faster, I think you underestimate how quick modern liter bikes are compared to 600's, it's not even close. Every corner exit and straight they'll make up all the time they lost on the corner.
>>
>>17656801
I would be going from an 800cc ducati monster to the ninja though

Would I get bored
>>
>>17656809

It's not like liter supersports lose speed in the corners anyways

These days they're just really fucking bonkers.

>>17656809
You wouldn't be satisfied in the first place.
>>
>>17656840
Yeah I was thinking of getting a 600 until I looked at craigslist and saw they were the same price as the liters. Got one of those instead and I'm super glad I did, wheelies all day and the power is just insane plus it has better suspension and brakes than a 600 would have.

Glad other people are scared of them; driving their price down.
>>
>>17656856
It's scary if you get an older one without any rider aides. It's for pussies, but if you actually ride in the rain it makes sense to limit torque and have ABS all of a sudden.
>>

>rider aids
Riding sportbikes is the #1 cause

On one hand I want to be snooty and say things like "well if you don't want to ride, you know where to go."
On the other hand, it might be a pretty cool place to make friends.
It's a hipster themed bike cafe though. So do I want to make friends there?

>>
>>17656788

The R3 and Ninja 300 are the best starter sport bikes, get whichever one you like the looks of more or the cheapest one you can get.

If it's not a licensing thing, you will want a bigger bike the next year but these bikes hold their value well enough.
