I had to order online a 5/16" male plug socket to remove my YJ's transmission fill plug
Once that arrived I find out the fill plug needs a 9/32" male plug socket, which should arrive tomorrow
What is the biggest tire i can fit on a stock z71. 16 inch rims. Currently have 265/75s.

good lord this thread is less than to be desired
>no weiner links

so honestly how bad are these engines?
>>17621724
>>17621719
where you been dude, haven't seen you post your yj in a while
do chains work in mud?
>>17625405
>>17625416
yellow yj guy here, they are bullet proof as fuck but just really gutless, just a 4.0 without 2 cyls.
>>17625423
can they be modded to get any power out of them, example a cam?
>find 06 Jeep GC WK
>5.7L hemi
>148k miles
>$4k
>good physical condition
>VIN check seems good
Should I go for it?
>>17625435
I have considered a cam in mine personaly, but don't know who makes them or anything like that, only just an idea of mine. Some people boost them, but they don't have the interanl strength for that IMO. Usaully you can push more out of it with electric fans, a lighter flywheel and a nice high flow exhaust system. These all help low end and rev speed. Also a throttle body spacer might help with throttle response, but wont have any effect on power.
>>17624209
Considering you people let the last thread die I didn't have all that extra shit on my phone so had to make do.
>>17625463
yuck
not unless it has a towing package or whats the point? its a glorified minivan
>>17625417
If your tires reach to the hard ground then its very much possible
>>17625484
What are these "towing packages" I keep seeing mentioned when it comes to cars/trucks in the US?
??
>>17625484
Yes it has the towing package.
Why else shouldn't I go for it?
>>17625496
Towing package is like a hitch for basics but transmission tuning for shift points, tans brakes, tow cameras and other shit that helps out. At least for modern cars that's some shit that is included, I don't know what the WJ tow package was.
are these any good
scout a shit?
>>17625508
Oh, its that much stuff included? Then I get it
>>17625508
most also include a larger radiator, and some older ones had a different camshaft than normal
>>17625516
good for what
>>17625516
yes wtf
that engine itself is worth like $3000 in parts
if you need more power or need to haul, it's an NA diesel that you can turbo if you know what you're doing. blank space engine that can go up to 500k miles without a rebuild
>>17625528
On my old SJ the tow package was a numerically higher axle gear ratio (3.31 vs non towing package 2.73) and an extra transmission cooler in front of the radiator.
>>17622619
Its a 1996 if that matters.
>>17625661
also trans coolers are included
>>17625490
Comfy interior
>>17625416
I've been extremely busy with work m8, but I'm back. I was lurking, but I finally had time to be able to go see some dirt
>>17625968
then why arent they more popular?
can someone tell me when the first gen 4 runner changed to IFS? i noticed 85 was sold axle, what about other years?
>>17626113
1st and 2nd gens are all solid axle but they switched to independent in 1996 for the 3rd gen
>>17626113
only one year of the 1stgen 4runner had the solid front axle, the 1985, which was also the last year of the toyota pick up with a solid front axle. 85 was also the first year that included fuel injection. So 86 was the first year of IFS.

>>17626089
Cost.
>>17626130
The first year of the 4runner was 1984. So 84' and 85' had the solid axles, with 85' also being the first year for EFI which makes it the most desirable year because it had the solid axles and EFI.

I took my LTD out innawoods to my buddy's cabin since it's been sitting. Thrashed it about on the trails. It got a lot farther than I thought.

Not a fan of jeeps, but that looks nice.
>>17630719
What are you a fan of? I'm going to make a safe bet that it's very large penises, seeing as you have a problem with Jeep.

What the fuck is Chrysler's deal, anyway. How do Jeep fags actually get anywhere off a paved road.
>>17628631
offroading vehicles that aren't meant to be offroaded is high t
>>17631856
Rubis came with locks, but I have the Sport, which doesn't.
I do just fine without lockers anyways.
>>17631954
>I do just fine without lockers anyways.
Keep telling yourself that.
>>17631954
Try something with proper lockers (primarily rear) and you'll never want to go back to anything without
>>17631330
Are you digging out from under the tires????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????
Dude, do you even into getting out of sand. Just dig out where it high centered and air down my dude.
>>17632081
Agreed
>>17632081
lockers make such cool noises when turning sharp too
>>17632232
You don't need a locker for that - just put some sand in your wheel bearings and you'll have that sweet ass sound soon anyways
>the good feel when new bearings for all four corners arrive on Wednesday
>>17632081
I didn't say lockers were bad. I just don't have the money to install lockers. When the time and funds come, I'll take a whole week off work to get it done.
>>17626121
no they didnt u fagit
85 and before = sfa
no other 4runners had sfa
85 is seen as 'god mode' year bc last year of solid axle and first year of fuel injection.
only model to have both.

Thinking of getting a Jimny Flatdeck, anyone here own a Jimny?
Ive heard the exposed electronics easily get ripped out and there's fuck all bash plating.
My '87 YJ is my daily. I do take it everynow and then to some trails. I've got open diffs. Since it's my daily, would it be a good idea to only get front lockers? Would it affect driving on the street? I would imagine not since the front wheels aren't receiving power, but I just want to make sure
Any lockers you guys recommend?
is /org/ dead?
should we be honest withourselves here?
was it even a good run?
should i kill myself?
>>17638939
It'll liven up in 2 weeks when I get my Turd Pro 4runner.
>>17637083

>>17638939
I started a few /ORG/ threads last summer before getting too hard into offroading and they would fizzle out with comments like "oh you like mud on your tyres, eh!?" and "/thread".
Then in September, /ORG/ really took off. I don't believe in summerfags or skinwalkers. But anecdotal evidence like these roly maeks me thicc...

>>17637083
Ayyyyy! My old YJ was an '87! Of all the times I got it stuck, lockers would have gotten me free with the exception of once or twice. I never got far enough to put lockers on though... My time was spent chasing down a never ending rust nightmare and trying for the life of me to get a 304 to run right.
I miss it though :'-(

>>17644008
why though?
someone has told me to clean my car multiple times but it just gets dirty after a week. Once, i was complaining to my friend about needing to powerwash the engine bay and undercarriage and he just asked me "why?". I have yet to hear of a good reason to clean the engine bay and undercarriage of mud. just slather it in oil and call it "rust proofing"
>>17639555
>go 2 bed tay

also, checked.
>>17643957

>American reasoning
>>17644257
I still wash the exterior so I don't look like a fag. Give me a few reasons to wash the engine bay and undercarriage and I'll actually do it.
So far, the pros of leaving on the mud outweigh the 10-20 minutes (and a dollar in water costs) I'd have to spend every week cleaning out the engine bay and undercarriage
>>17644234
The stock brakes on the 1st gen Tacoma and 3rd gen 4Runner are pretty weenie so a lot of folks upgrade to 13WL brakes from a Tundra/Sequoia since they conveniently fit perfectly

>>17646401
thanks fag
>>17644296
So I've got a 96 taco and want to ask why exactly would you go for more powerful brakes, I'm pretty sure the small size is a safety feature if you don't have ABS since it makes it really difficult to lock the front wheels on dry road and you keep your ability to steer as a result, that's personally saved my ass before when I had a guy brakecheck me while I was towing a boat, the rear wheels locked but I was still able to steer out of the way of the car.
>>17644296
Ive been looking for the rigbt size cause im willing to shell out money for the brakes just not bigger tires
Cause the 199mm tundra brakes fit perfectly over the stock limited 16inch rims
