(Pictured) is out for delivery right now. I've got a two-part.
First, how do I clean a bike? I've seen people at the spray wash, but they all had faired up sportbikes.
I've got an aircooled standard. Do I just not clean the engine? Wait three hours so it will cool?
Part two: Application tips for a tank pad? I don't think it will be hard to smooth, but I'm wondering if I should prepare the surface somehow...

I've always just sprayed my shit up at a car wash, would probably do it cold if I had my own driveway to wash it on though.

I see harleys and stuff all the time at them, and ran a ton of aircooled atvs through water and they have always been OK.

>Wait three hours so it will cool?

Absolutely, heat makes detergents significantly more corrosive.

>I'm wondering if I should prepare the surface somehow
Clean it normally, followed by a rinse with deionised water then one with alcohol. Use a hairdryer to warm the surface prior to application and rub it into place from the centre outwards. Once it's on, repeat the rubbing process to ensure the adhesive is really worked in.
>>
>>17594328

You can clean just about everything with hot and soapy. Everything is fair game, just try to stay away from your brakes since they will be slippery for a while if they get wet. Wet tires on dry road isn't really a big deal.

You can use degreaser on tough to beat dirt but definitely keep it away from brakes and your chain. It will eat up pads and O-rings.

Don't pressure wash.

I think I want a Hayabusa.

I'm a but a simple US besatzungstruppen with some access to an unlimited speed autobahn.

I'm also terribly bored since the wars stopped and I'm not allowed to join the YPG and I have a $600k life insurance policy that's valid so long as I wear a helmet and a shiny jacket.

Also my stock portfolio I invested in from all my deployment-bux do not look likely to recover soon.

I'm not suicidal, but just kinda bored. I feel like my apogee is behind me and I never really cared if I died or not. What better time than now to push the envelop of my motorcycling skills?

Get a VFR1200. They're limited to a somewhat annoying 165mph but you can do that fully laden with more than your customs allowance of spirits weighing down the panniers with one hand gently rolling your testicles as the other keeps the throttle open.

I hear the gas tanks are tiny on those with later models.

I'm thinking of the Busa because of it's fat-ass gas tank and it's all-round performance, besides it's top speed.

A minor point, but I have to plan gas stops because only Esso stations let me buy fuel tax-free with my neat-o besatzungstruppen SOFA-agreement treaty AAFES gas card.

How much does a Blackbird go for in Germany? Are parts still easy to come by?

>I hear the gas tanks are tiny on those with later models.

It's not terrible but nor is it great. At WOT continuously, you'll get 105 miles before the fuel light comes on, giving you another 30 miles. Normally, you can get close to 200 miles.

Well, the autobahn is a not a straight line in Germany also there are other cars and shit in the way. But yeah, flying through the alpine twisties up and mountain mountain roads is a good idea too.

I've done and been done with canyon twisties in Colorado, Fort Carson before on a 650cc type motorcycle. Twisty roads you can find even in Florida and Kansas, I'm in Germany with unrestricted stretches of autobahn it's probably the only place in the world a 300/kph bike makes sense.

Also read the Busa is good in the twisties?

Just upshift to the top gear as soon as you meet the speed limit and your bike can maintain it without chugging or stalling.

Lower RPMs and slow, steady changes in the throttle means lower fuel consumption and better gas mileage.

This means accelerating slow, which is lame as fuck if you are in a motorcycle. So, what are oil prices today? $40/bbl? Gas $2/gal?

There is really not reason to have this concern right now. Burn it up while it's still cheap, it will never be this cheap again.

>>

Yeah, I heard it didn't suck, is all, compared to similar bikes, but it isn't like a lighter bike. I don't even want to think about what the steering lock left to right is like. A bike you can't U-turn on a two lane road will get some used to.

Busa is a fat fucking pig compared to what I normally ride, but bro dawg man, dude! Fuck! it's unrestricted autobahn! A 200kph, 650cc bike is moving 2/3rds the speed a motorcycle COULD be moving on the same road.

I dunno what else to do, it seems like an absolute given that I need a 186mph/300kph bike.

I dunno if these guys giving you advice even ride mate. But I do, and I can tell you the busa is better in corners than you'll probably ever be. You do have to work hard than people on smaller bikes though, fact.
I owned a 2008 (2nd gen) busa and they're a fantastic bike. In America I've found middle aged men and Africans seem to be attracted to them so they're seen as a cringe bike.
The fact of the matter is that it's a stunning looking, aerodynamically brilliant hotrod powerhouse.
Don't believe the bs that it's ultra comfy though, this is a big, long and wide bike. A lot of people buy these things and don't ride them because they don't have or engage their abs.
I now have a zx14r (another cringe bike by USA standards) but in having both I can tell you the only thing the busa has over it is subjective looks and aftermarket pool. The 14r is faster, lighter, more nimble and far more advanced.

I need a USB charger (preferably 2 slots) that goes directly on the battery, but has an on-off switch (or a really easy way to disconnect it) to prevent power from leaking when not in use. Will put it under buddy seat so I can use it without a tank bag or at a campsite while the keys are not in the ignition.

I tried making my own on-off switch but it blew up because I am retarded. Hard to find what I want on Amazon - anyone got any ideas?

Two ways to explain the same thing. Basically if you're shit at corners a busa is going to slow you down if coming from a lighter bike or shorter wheel base bike.
That doesn't mean you can't use a busa to go very, very fast through a mountain road.

It's funny you have your bike with the American mil-style paint on your murkan bike made in murka with it's underperforming and overpriced characteristics and you post here trying to make it sound like you are better or more murkan than those of us who ride other bikes (shots across the bow of the jap bikes in particular) and something occurs to me:

Do you know who William Deming is? Do you know what the Deming Prize is? Funny thing, post WW2 after murka decimated Japan we actually sent Americans to help them rebuild and better themselves. One of which was this man, William Edwards Deming. An American of astute pedigree; Deming received a BS in electrical engineering from the U of Wyoming at Laramie, an MS from the U of Colorado, and a PhD from Yale. Both graduate degrees were in mathematics and physics. He wrote books and philosophized in fields such as sampling techniques, and in general was a GOD when it came to efficiency and improvement procedures to better companies, products, and ultimately lives.

While murka sent Deming to Japan to help them relearn what was needed to have successful businesses with quality products, our own country was developing a different strategy, one I call the UNION, "Good Enough" philosophy.

How fucked up is it that while we sent an American to Japan to turn them into a powerhouse of innovation and industrial performance churning out quality products ultimately consumed more and more by Americans, American businesses were outright rejecting these core principles in favor of mediocrity?

This is what you represent Hardley Ableson rider, mediocrity. You talk about your murkan products when the true spirit of America was exported to JAPAN. And while Deming was largely neglected and ignored stateside people who knew better praised him for his high accomplishments and philosophies, even going so far as to honor him by founding a Deming Prize handed out to those companies who adhere to that TRUE AMERICAN SPIRIT.

Cool.... I am neither very African or middle-aged yet but I'm tall and the 'Busa I'm told is a end-of-evolutionary-path for heavy or tall riders. That not any other substitute exists because most other fast as fuck bikes are smaller and shorter in the last decade or so since the Busa was around. Some would say I have a 'Quarter-life crisis' but I have good understanding of my lifespan and I say probable mid-life crisis at best.

I've always rode 600c class bikes, fast, but lightweight and standard ergos, ect...also not fast enough to be interesting on unlimited autobahn.

So I think, for now, I want stupid fast sport-bike, that can go good distances.

Thinking of a Concurs, too. since I can buy one for cheap here.

Just kidding. I want either a Busa or something similar.

Git better at chatting up old fat white guys then. You know cops speed like motherfuckers and hold impromptu drag races when nobody's around to see, just like everyone else with a dick.

Either you run out of luck and get a guy who's had a stick up his ass since he was born or you get them to relate and let you off with a "i hope you learned your lesson".
>>
>>17595360
No, it's solid
The theory behind it is that instead of upshifting by pulling your toes up you stomp your heel

Trust me, that's this guy. I've talked my way out of two tickets. This guy wanted to write me for anything he could. Gave me the "you're gunna die" speech and everything. The trooper in the charger wasn't even gunna write me anything until he showed up. He still knocked the speed down a lot, so it wasn't too bad.

Oh yea, that fucking harley cop pulled my dad over like 2 days before. Guy is a typical uptight know it all moto cop.

Yeah It all seems logical to be able to do both shifting with both of the levers, but TBQH, I don't see the appeal of that mechanically.
But then again, I guess it all comes down to personal taste. It's just a weird sight, that's all.
>>
>>17595404
It's probably better than traditional shifters actually. It's more or less two-sided GP shift, so you could theoretically have more cornering clearance for shifting in both directions. No feet under levers ever.

Excellent, this is almost the thread I need!

I don't have a motorcycle, but I've got an old scooter that's been having some trouble starting up. Typically, in the middle of the day, if it's hot outside, it starts just fine. But I've been working later and later shifts and last night, at 1 am, it refused to start. It just started whining pathetically whenever I tried to start the engine. I've figured it's just the battery going low, but after so many days of it starting fine in the middle of the afternoon only to shit out once it cools down has led me to wonder if it's something more than that. What can I do to make sure it doesn't shit out on me after my next late-night shift?

There are a lot of possibilities. How does it ride in the night if you get it started? Does it stay in a high idle mode and never warm up? Have you done all the recommended maintenance? Like spark plugs?
It's probably going to need a raise in idle speed/carb adjusting.

It rides fine once it gets going, though the engine does stall/stop at the first red light, usually. I can start it up again right afterwards, thankfully, always. And it's not like I go great distances often, usually it's a 10 minute drive to work every day.

As to the rest of those questions, I don't know the answers, unfortunately. I'd usually just recharge the battery anytime after it failed to start, and that'd work well enough. I don't know if replacing the sparkplugs would help or if it's mainly my battery getting too old. And I don't know what "high idle mode" would be.

I don't even count adding 2 stroke oil as maintenance since I just always keep a little 333ml bottle in my bike which is perfect 1:40 ratio.

Chinese replica 2 strokes are shit yes.

Original Minarelli 2 stroke's go anything inbetween 20k and 40k if you aren't a retard who engine breaks and rips it everywhere even if its cold.

Replaced my cilinder with a cast iron one since they are a bit more sturdy and it has around 15k on it. Cheap aluminium cilinders dont do well like Airsal and Athena kits.

2 strokes just die faster because they are kinda fragile compared to 4 strokes in the sense that engine failure is more prone because of idiots/cheap shit.

>>17596271
their new fi system was their way to completely fix the emission aids from the government.

it happens when you fuck up in life so badly that there's no way you'll get back on course in time. as in, you'll be in a nice place at 40 when everyone else was already there at 25. and nurturing talents? literally too late, adult brains don't learn the same. so, you don't bother and revel in hard labor and material wealth.
