Possibly going to be the next owner if everything goes well tomorrow.

Anyone know how bad a 352 with a 3spd auto going to be on gas?

>>
>>17516257

Man, it's really hit or miss depending on the seller, but the easiest way to barter is to start at the low value point on NADA and then find everything wrong with the car that you'll be dumping more money into.

Some people are reasonable and will come down, some people are uptight assholes who think they have a million dollar Jackson Barrett car hidden under all the rust.

I lucked out, but so did they. If they didn't come down I would have walked. This car needs a shitload of work that I didn't really want to do.
>>

Patience, go on Craigslist every week and go through every state. Go to every swap meet and car show you can and ask around. And if you see one on some guys lawn go and ask him how much he would take for it.

>>
>>17516802
>Exempt he had it rebuilt years ago, shop put fluid in too.
If it's grinding bad then it's only going to accelerate the wear, if he keeps doing it i'll need rebuilt anyway.
>>
>>17516820
Do you know what proper fluid it should have? Want to at least put new fluid in before he gets it rebuilt again
>>
>>17516829
75w-90 until it's starting to spill onto the threads of the plug.
>>
>>17516832
Any idea how much harm may have been done with a bit of grinding? I hear those toploaders are good trannys
>>
>>17516845
Define a bit?
They aren't as bomb-proof as Ford enthusiasts claim, they won't survive bad shifting habits for very long.

The only way to tell how fucked it is is to drive it and see how much play the shifter has while it's supposed to be in gear, if it feels rough, makes weird noises while it's in gear, how smoothly it can go into gear (first gear is unsynchronized so this doesn't count). Take note of which gears grind etc.
The synchronizers will wear out before the gears but that needs a rebuild to fix those as well.
>>
>>17516873
>They aren't as bomb-proof as Ford enthusiasts claim, they won't survive bad shifting habits for very long.
I should clarify before someone jumps down my throat, I'm not saying they're any worse than other 4 speeds, just that nothing will survive abuse forever.
>>
>>17516873
First gear is what's been grinding
>>
>>17516882
Okay well first gear isn't synchronized in any Detroit 4 speed that i've heard of. You're not supposed to touch it unless the car is stopped, just like reverse. They all make a clunking noise when putting it into first but that's normal.
>>
>>17516892
So maybe because he's forcing it in gear without holding brakes? It's not a clunk, it's ugly oldschool grind sound
>>
>>17516902
Could be, watch him the next time you're in the car with him. Sometimes they actually shift a bit smoother if the car is rolling slightly but if it's grinding there's a problem. Is he downshifting to first or anything?
>>
>>17516913
No, it's when he's putting it in gear to get moving it grinds. Maybe it needs to get checked out again. He wanted to swap in a later 5spd. But I think he should have it checked out before he does that
>>
>>17516902
Or, the clutch might be starting to go, the best way to check this is to put it in 4th gear and slowly let out the clutch and see if it even stalls out.
>>
>>17516929
Clutch is good, when he rebuilt engine/transmission he put in good centerforce clutch kit
>>
>>17516938
Well that is the only explanation that makes sense. He probably didn't adjust the clutch properly and doesn't feel like doing it again.
>>
>>17516960
So you think to find out exactly what problem is transmission might have to be taken apart and checked by shop?
>>
>>17516998
You'll probably have to do that so see know how much damage is done in any event.
>>
>>17517021

4 door and an oddball Coronet. Hell yeah, why not!
>>
>>17518278
>>17518317
Advantage of that 4-door attitude: that makes them cheap

Disadvantage: That is, if you can fuckin' find one!

Also,, what's oddball about it? Other than not being a 2-door.

Alright, I'll look into this...
>>

Don't give up, bud. You'll find one. I am still searching for an AMC Marlin and a couple of clean 95+ chevy trucks.

As I noted before, though, you have to fucking find them first. Good. The bench seat is nearly mint, no rips or tears. It's vinyl. I have the original dash, but it's roached, so I took it out. The metal underneath looks good though. Gas gauge has a ground issue, so it will work if you wiggle the plug right but stop working when you hit a bump. Fixed the temp and oil pressure gauges, but it needs a new speedo cable for that to work. Has the original vinyl floor with IH logo, has some tears in it. There are holes in the floor boards, but the supports are solid and the cab mounts are good. I've never put my foot through them. The holes are in under the clutch.

Well, I went and looked at that 58 ford fairlane with the 352.

Pros: super clean interior thats was half way restored, body was clean and solid with very minor rust in the fenders, steering was tight, and it did 70 just fine.

Cons: needed shocks (or else you swerve all over the road), and it kept dying anytime you came to a stop, felt like the "freshly tuned" carb was flooding. The guy said no leaks, but the PS was, and the rear main seal was leaking oil like a stuck pig.

If it werent for the seal, I might've gotten it. If anyone wants it, it's in Wiggins MS, check CL. Guy wants 3k for it.

Help me out anons

This car is 60k and supposedly has a ton of aftermarket parts, to the point where it's a custom tuned car built from scratch with a Challenger appearance. The price in Spain in € and the price in pounds in the UK are the same number, which doesnt add up. The price in the american website was lower.

I love it but I saw it listed on many places, it's apparently in Spain sold by a kraut but I've seen it on a UK website and an american website.

They're asking 60k but I fear it's one of those scam shits where there's actually no car or who the fuck knows where the car is.

Is this shady?

I've also seen it without the RT stripes on some pictures

Well using guns as an example. Boomers like to make sure all the serial numbers on military firearms match. This becomes an issue on German firearms especially because the Germans are a deeply autistic country and serialized and proofed literally every part of a gun including screws for things like the buttplate. This means that to a boomer a G.98 with all-matching numbers is worth more than an arsenal refurb that is in better condition but has mismatched screws. Also you have boomers that claim things like M1 Carbines are all-matching when they didn't even come from the factory that way.

Classic cars are like doggos.

I love them.
I love paying attention to other people's.

But fuck owning one myself. Too noisy, messy, dirty, leak fluids everywhere, timesinking, take up space, make you smell bad, always break down and require maintenance, unsafe, might kill you and your kids at any moment if you turn your back.

Anybody have good 3 way speakers they'd recommend? Setting up stereo in the D100, bought a classic-ish head unit that just needs antenna and 2 speakers to go. There's one wire each for L and R speakers, no neutral, I assume that's just ground on a 12VDC system?

Forgot to add, good speakers that don't look fucking awful. Most car audio is riced to fuck, I just want basic round speakers with mesh covers to look relatively period correct.

Also make sure it doesn't have plastic timing chain guides if it's a single row chain. The plastic guides wear through in like 50,000 miles and eats through the timing cover into the water pump housing.

I'm not as classic as some of you guys but it's technically a 92 by date of manufacture.

1993 Ford Probe GT

Bought it on a whim, had been looking for one for a while. They are especially hard to find anymore and this one was rust free and had a straight body. Seller wanted 1100 I got them down to 1000 it was pissing coolant everywhere.

So far, in a week I have replaced

>timing belt
>water pump
>timing belt tensioner
>button the interior back together
>new JVC radio
>new lift supports for the hatch
>new clutch master and clutch slave cylinder

It needs a lot more work, the car was a virgin unmodified car, but it needs a complete AC system overhaul with new lines, luckily it has factory R134. It will also need an alignment and new tires, and the muffler has a hole the size of Rhode Island in it. The speakers are all blown too. It does handle very well and the stock V6 still has plenty of balls, will probably build a JDM motor for it and then rebuild this one and keep it as a spare.

pls no bully
