Anything under 20k miles.

That's not to imply that any bikes above that mileage are bad, but if the PO was a neglectful retard, by that point it'll start to show.

>>When was the last time you adjusted your suspension to suit you? Any tips?
When I rebuilt my forks
Tip: don't change shit unless you know what the changes will do or what result you're trying to end up with. If you are clueless either leave it at OEM settings or take it to a suspension shop to set up for you.

>>Where do you have your rearsets and shifter positioned?
By my feet. What kind of question is this?
shifter is adjusted for easiest shifting for whatever boots I wear most.
>>
>>17462793
Forgot to add that it has a footpeg lowering kit and that I adjusted the shifter upwards in order to fit my A* adv moonboots.
>>
>>17462757
35 front and rear

Haven't touched the suspension but I will once I have the money to, I'm probably 50-70 lbs over the intended weight

I like where the rearsets are so I don't really want to mess with them.
>>
>>17462757
>What tyres pressure do you run?
2.4 front, 2.9 rear

>When was the last time you adjusted your suspension to suit you? Any tips?
A week after I bought it, so over 2 years ago.

>Where do you have your rearsets and shifter positioned?
Shifter and rear peddle as high as possible, so my adv boots could use them.

Thanks lads. I've been playing with tyres pressure every weekend trying to get it right but still get some bubbling on the tyres when I'm redline on the Twisties (it's 40 mins of twisties non stop 100kmph limit road so it gets hectic).

>What tyres pressure do you run?
2.1 and 2.2 bar front and rear respectively.

You can run lower on the street depending on how hard your tires are and how suicidal are you.

On the track it's too case and tire specific. I usually go 2.0 front and 1.8 rear, but I run tires with soft carcasses.

>When was the last time you adjusted your suspension to suit you? Any tips?
About a few months back but I put it too hard, it was especially bad on the rear as the bike was having the tire act as suspension due to how stiff it was. Reverted it back to stock and haven't played with it since. Front is fine, rear is a pogo stick. Should definitely re-approach the whole thing but been meh about tracking it again lately.

>Where do you have your rearsets and shifter positioned?
Stock position. If you're having to move them around too much, might as well consider another bike to better suit the type of riding you're doing.

Or will their future Harley Davidson masters set them straight?

I ordered a carb rebuild kit couple days ago, actually before I knew it was leaking.
Would this have all of that.
I've been schooling myself on carbs the last few days. I think it's a seal somewhere.
It's leaking from a hole right before the intake, which leads to the main jet.

>>
>>17463346
>>17463354
My knees are the worst pain I get when riding a supersport because I put a lot of weight on the pegs to keep it off my hands. I usually give in and rest on my hands when cruising for a long time, so my wrists get sore too.

Back and butt pain come too but I can deal with it.

Hey fellas.
>>
>>
post ur baik hauler
>>
>>17463473
the vast majority may not be sold to people who intend to race them, but in order for them to be raced in superstock/superbike races at all, Ducati has to sell a certain number to people doing grocery runs.

Ducati shouldn't say "oh, well, you don't need performance to get groceries" and hamstring their bikes' racing (i.e. advertising) potential for the sake of selling to grocery getters. Of course, the other extreme - saying "oh, well, fuck comfort & maintenance intervals, gotta go fast on the track" - is equally silly, because if not enough people buy then they can't race.

anyway, this started because anon said SSS are dumb on performance bikes. What are the odds that that pic is of their prototype engine stuck into a panigale (or whatever parts they have on hand) frame and the swingarm is totally coincidental? I was listening to a podcast that had the CEO of Ducati North America as a guest (oh my god, 2 hours of dicklicking, srs) but he was saying they intended to begin moving on from SSS/dry clutch/trellis frame and find more, different special snowflake things to be known for.

do-it-yourself brake hoses went away a long time ago. Speed shops will sell you braded brake lines in any length, as they are available in one-inch increments, but that's going to cost you more than a ready-made kit and take longer for the order to arrive.

OEM looks to be around $100 for the three pieces. Galfer's braded kit is $50 from Summit and they even ship on Sundays. How broke are you and how soon do you need it?

If the lines are just clogged, you just need to flush them. If they aren't cracked badly or oozing or the the rubber is melting, what is your rush?

How did you learn how to ride? How much practice does it really take to start going on highways?
>>
>>17464484
well, i'm also an insurance noob and am shopping for mine now, but here are some of my thoughts

the insurance people take a bunch of info like your age/sex/employment/city/credit/bike displacement/cost/color/skin color/penis girth/education/marital status/criminal record and feed it all into their secret voodoo algorithms, and this spits out the premium you pay for your coverage per month or whatever.

The premium represents how likely they think you are to fuck up your bike and ask for them to pay for it. It's priced so they make money if you fuck up less than expected, break even if you match expectations, and lose money if you exceed them.

But... if you make an insurance claim, it makes them more wary of you and they often bump up your premium. (conversely most places lower premiums over time if you demonstrate you're a low risk by, e.g., having X incident-free periods, getting married, turning 25, etc.)

the situation anon described falls under "comprehensive" insurance (shit that happens to your bike, your fault or not, that isn't a traffic collision or theft). Carrying comprehensive isn't usually legally required, but presumably anon has it or he wouldn't be asking the question. You set a dollar amount called the deductible when buying comprehensive, which is how much *you* have pay towards repairs before insurance kicks in and pays up to however much coverage you bought. The higher deductible you get, the cheaper your monthly price (usually by a LOT). But if replacing anon's plastics and bars is less than his deductible, his insurance wouldn't help anyway and he shouldn't call them.

not all claims are the same as far as your premiums being adjusted. if you find your baiku sleeping in the parking lot and there isn't any evidence of who knocked her over, that's not really your fault and they probably won't dick you. if you drop your bike in your garage because you're a new rider, that is your fault and they probably will dick you. etc.

>>

to continue

between bikes and cars, bike generally incur a lot more damage in a crash and are often more of a pain to get repaired properly. this means insurance companies can be more likely to just say "Forget it" and say the bike's totaled instead of trying to figure out how much they owe you for repairs. This means, basically, that they buy the bike from you.

If you have basic insurance, they pay you however much they determine the bike is worth after the incident (who the fuck knows how they calculate that). If you have good insurance, they might pay you up to the value of the bike as it was assessed *before* the incident.

Either way, you give them the bike (in whatever state it's in, whether that's "in three pieces on the highway" or "running just fine but has a big ass dent in the tank and no fairings on the left side"). Then they look it over and decide what's the best way to make a buck off it (usually scrap it or sell it to a dealer who wants to fix it up and resell it).

You might LIKE the bike though, and think it's worth keeping even if they said it's totaled:

If you have basic insurance, this basically means that you keep the bike and they don't pay you anything. However, because they said it was totaled, it has to get a salvaged title so that the next person who buys it knows some shit went down, even if you fixed it up real nice afterwards. This drastically reduces the value of the bike.

If you have good insurance, the only difference is that they do pay you some money - the difference between the value of the bike before the incident and their assessment of its value afterwards.
>>
>>17464667
Yeah, I finished a MSF course just on friday. Gonna buy my first bike on monday. The course was pretty difficult and I kind of struggled, but I got everything down pretty decently.

Only thing I had consistent struggles doing was the baby clutch. The tiniest twitch would stall that bike. Hoping that isn't a thing on all bikes.

daily if it's not a chore, man.

the "posted today" filter is pretty useful if you're not looking for anything in particular, because even though you haven't filtered out many results, there are only so many bikes posted in a day and you can see all of them, really. And the good deals go quick. I saw an '05 sv650s with 20k miles get posted in a metropolitan area for $2.4k at 8am on a Saturday and the guy told me later it was gone by the afternoon.

on the other hand if you're looking for something specifically, like i was - I figured out about 4-5 different common spellings/spacings of the keywords I wanted and kept each one as a search in its own pinned tab. Once or twice a day I'd refresh them all and then go through the results on each tab and "hide" every post that wasn't a possibility and "favorite" the remainder. This kept me aware of new bikes as they got posted (cause they hadn't been favorited yet) but didn't allow me to forget about older posts (hiding all the fluff in the search kept the interesting results together).

Hey, /o/. So a work friend is selling me an '86 Suzuki Intruder 700 for about 700$. It's got like 22k miles and it looks like it's in great condition. I work closely with him every night of the week and he drove it until last month when he bought a newer intruder.

Is this a good buy? He's taken a down payment and I'll give him the rest in the next paycheck. It'll be my first bike, my first time on a bike besides revving a crb1000.

I'm a sport/naked kind of guy but this thing looks pretty good IMO without the back seat attached, sounds great and has enough but not too much power for me to learn how to ride responsibly.

What's /o/'s opinion?

I enjoy this response. Glad to see /o/ isn't like the rest of the boards with instant hate.

How'd I do in pic related? 130$ on sale from RevZilla. I tried to stay neutral and calm but kept sport in mind for when I buy a sportier bike.

Who cares what it looks like. The important thing is, is it safe. I worry more about protecting my skin. I have the same jacket for all the bikes i ride.

I care what it looks like. Safety is paramount, surely. It comes with CE rated elbow shoulder and spine protection. I picked it because I sweat like a pig in regular clothes and needed something breathable.

I get my permit on Wednesday when the DMV opens back up. Probably take my driver test before the end of the month. I'm guessing I'll do around 300 miles of driving then take the skills test.

>>17464907
Are exhaust wraps for fags? I planned to paint the bike black, remove back seat, get a lower profile wheel fairing and exhaust wrap them pipes. Looks cool on the internet. Not trying to be a flaming faggot though.

Pic related + wraps is what I was hoping for.

>>17464910
I did plan on taking it. But all 3 sites in my city are booked for the summer for whatever reason. I will inquire in person rather than online but unfortunately I don't really have an option but to train myself and take the skills test alone.

All of the material is available online and so are the MSF training videos. I'm a very fast learner, very technical in track racing on cars. I'm more than responsible enough to learn how to ride a bike without taking a 6 hour course. I agree it's an excellent thing to do for any new rider but I'm not travelling out of my city to take a 6 hour course on things I can learn from other experienced riders and from thousands upon thousands of other experienced riders, not including /o/.

If you wanna come force them to let me in the MSF I'll be happy to attend. But full class is full class.

MSF is a meme. Only reason to take it is if you want to try and get cheaper insurance.

Go take the test and go practice on the bike in an empty parking lot every day for a week until you get decent at low speed control. Weave in and out of parking spaces as slow as you can. Ride in tighter and tighter circles as slow as you can without putting your feet down. Practice hard braking.

Go take the riding test at the DMV.

I'm glad to have the opportunity to have a friend/coworker give me such a great price on a starting bike. I'm not even paying it all up front and he said of anything doesn't pass inspection he'd go 50/50 on it.

The very last thing I want to do is come into bikes with any type of bias or hate. Which is half of the reason why I'm getting a cruiser over a sport bike since I already know I prefer sport bikes.

Ok?
>>
>>17465011
Why the fuck would you buy used motorcycle tires?

Having used tires still doesn't explain him not leaning. He just buys tires from people who don't leana nd he appearently doesn't lean himself.

You can get a solid set of tires for like $100 a pop. There is no real financial incentive to buying someone's shitty used takeoffs. Even if you're getting them for like $10 the hassle of having them mounted is more than worth it to have a fresh tire put on.

Yes, I'm aware people take track take offs. This is also stupid. Track tires are only good for a few heat cycles before they start hardening up and are garbage and you're better off with road tires. That's why people take them off.

And clearly no one has taken those tires on your friends bike to the track.
>>
>>17465016
Those are track take offs lol, and it's his only mode of transportation.

But it's whatever. Not my bike. Idc what he does with it. Why does it bother you so much how other people use their bikes?
>>
>>17465011
Why would you buy one of the best handling production bikes ever made, put shitty used tires on it, and never turn it?
>>
>>17465021

because they dont last for shit if youre commuting, offer terrible grip the more heat cycles you put them through, and he'd probably go through 30 track take offs for the life of a single sport touring tire that might cost him $120.
