Aayo, fuck these douchebags. HI sounds pretty neato, just small.
Not quite OK small, but maybe GA level.

And Hawaiians are cool as shit, but the rest of oceana...
(My uncle once fled the country, after breaking up with a Tongan girl)

What are the roads like out there? My brother got stationed on one of the mid-islands (I think?) And I think it'd be pretty fly to rent a couple bikes, make him learn to ride when I visit.

>literPeter anon
It's about fundamentals. Ever wonder why the middle school goalposts are still half the size of regulation ones?

Vast expanses of racists, on the way between Athens and Atlanta. So, better than OK, but still functionally limited.

Like HI. Just replace the confederates with seawater, and it looks the same to me.

just got back from 4 hours of driving to look at bike
>i was not prepared for the v-twin sound
seen a couple of these in parking lots and for a flash in oncoming traffic and such but ugggggggh
>that sound
>muh dick

I didn't actually test ride it because while I had the cash with me just in case, I wanted to check out a couple of other bikes first. It cold started perfectly though and I didn't find any big issues during the inspection (t. autistic checklist-making anon)
the owner seemed like a pretty cool guy, said he had given it to his brother when he upgraded to an FZ-01 and his brother had just bought an R6, so it wasn't going to be ridden much now. He also had a Vulcan.

He had swapped in a GXS-R 1000 rear shock and RaceTech fork springs, said the ride was a lot stiffer than stock. He was like 200 lb and I'm 135 lb; what should I expect from this and should I make adjustments accordingly? He offered to throw in the OEM fork springs if I wanted them.

>asked him if he'd deliver it to my place for an extra 100-150
>thought a second and said he'd do it if I paid full price (2600) cause he was expecting a haggle
>mfw my budget was 3000 to start with

I like this but I still want to go check out the yellow one that popped up.

Picked these up today with a shit ton of other goodies well below my spending limit. Went in expecting to blow a couple grand on KLIM gear. While I liked it and was ready to pay for it, it just didn't fit me right and that's all that really matters. So hooray for spending a shit ton of money but actually saving money? Mixed emotions.

Yea I was happy. I ended up getting the drystar gear. I hope it holds up on my trips. It fit better on me than the KLIM. I am not a small dude (wide shoulders), 5 foot 10, 175lbs, but the KLIM fit like garbage bags on me or too tight. Sorta stuck in a middle size that doesn't exist I guess.

The Drystar gear even still allows for me to hide my 1911 without being obnoxious in a custom chest rig I wear on occasion. So I'm happy.

It kind of blows, but I understand if that's the case (without a bore kit). It's essentially an up-tuned tractor engine.

Second opinion? Anybody tried to squeeze something similar? My other summer project would be matching paint and fairing repairs...less exciting, but I think the shoei front will look cool with vfr era tricolor stripes.

They dont sell proper bore kits for those bikes only china 305cc that are really hard to find and i think there water cooled.

It hasn't. I've gotten over the engine noise and have been riding it like I stole it and it's been fine. I'm trying to buy a Flatland Racing radiator guard but I want them to anodize it for me and they won't answer my emails.
Once I get that I'll take it in for the 6,000mi service and have them fix the radiator and install the guard and new plastics for me I think. It'll probably be like a $900 service :/

Why not have em ship it raw and get it anodized locally somewhere? You have to have a bunch of speed shops there that do that kind of stuff.

I should probably get around to my 12k service since I'm at almost 18k now. I'm just assuming the dealer didn't bother to do it before they sold it to me.

Don't get too excited. It's the American mini nighthawk, drum brakes and all.

I actually came off a scooter before this, upgraded because my sister had a baby and I need to break 60 to help her out. I'm strangely satisfied with the power, and am pretty much going to wait for it to die (just hit 10k) or for me to get this code-monkey job after college before upgrading meaningfully.
(Hence asking about upgrades. I like to ride both bikes a little faster than they're probably meant to go)

It seems to piss off a lot of people, but I'm thinking cbr500r, once the used price drops some. Gas mileage mostly, and they make the right aftermarket bits so I could learn to really push it before going super-sport.

Since new bikes have warranties who cares if the reliability is 10% less than another company? Not like you're paying for it.

They actually look pretty cool. It's distinctly american design, utilitarian with a little, subtly derivative flair that could only come from an amateur, not a dedicated artist.

While japs have a distinctive theme devleoped by participating in racing and italians design their bikes like they're going to hang them on the fucking wall, I think the US nails it for streetbikes.

So, knowing how to read, you can see why I say that statement is opaque enough to destroy their credibility?
With properly published data, we'd be able to recategorize the failures by actual use, severity of failure, etc.
Because a fucking mirror is not a failure. It's embarrassing, but trivial.
I'm looking for details like this guy named, in number form.

Maybe stop building bikes where the mirror falls off or the headlight wire fries if you're so concerned about botched reliability scores in consumer reports then.

The problem with a Grom is not the fact that its not fun, its just not worth it for the price imo. Cheapest groms are still 2k, and they are heavy and weak.
In most every state, with a few exceptions, you can take a cheap trail bike like a TTR125 and make it street legal.
I personally bought one for $700 back in the day, one with the estart option. Got a FMF pipe on ebay for $100, dremeled out the airbox, rejeted the carb. Got lighting and switches and mirrors for it for another $100 from ebay, registered it in Vermont and got a Tag for it. Got BT45 tires for $200. At that point it was slightly faster than the Grom, and you could do everything that you could do on a Grom for almost $1000 under the lowest asking price.
I ended up putting a big bore kit, upgrading the front end to a YZ85 one, and putting on a 26 mm carb, after which it would leave the Grom in the dust. All for still under 2k.
Definitely quite a bit of work involved, but you can see where Im going with this. And its really easy to work on that bike, most all of the shit was done with the bike on the kickstand, and for the fork swap i just ran it out of gas, drained the oil and worked with the bike on its side.
But even then, I eventually sold it because it was just too slow. Even in the city, you still get to higher speeds, and bikes like the Grom or Mine only really let you enjoy them at lower speeds....
Bikefinds.com, and also, don't limit yourself to TTR125. Search for DRZ125, KLX125, CRF150F. Make sure they are the large wheel version with the disk brake upfront.
