grats on your new yamaha UJM

Bikes are way too easy to customize. Want a sportier suspension? Doing your own fork swap is cheaper than having a shop rebuild your forks and easier than rebuilding forks yourself.

I don't get buying new bikes and losing more money than you would have spent just upgrading your current one.

I know, I just like the 70's aethestic's which an fz can never replicate.

First world problems, but I I wish I had a place with a garage to tinker. Apartment living + motorcycle being my only means of transport bretty much a project bike is impossible or I would just buy a cb750 and call it a day. I still love my FZ way to much to sell anytime soon.

apropos of southamericaposting:

>Eating steaks in Argentina feels like joining a cult. You find yourself leaning on friends to come visit, and writing YOU JUST DON'T UNDERSTAND in all caps more often than feels comfortable. Argentine beef really is extraordinary. Almost all of this has to do with how the cows are raised. There are no factory feedlots in Argentina; the animals still eat pampas grass their whole lives, in open pasture, and not the chicken droppings and feathers mixed with corn that pass for animal feed in the United States. Since this is the way of life a cow was designed for, it is not necessary to pump the animal full of antibiotics. The meat is leaner, healthier and more flavorful than that of corn-fed cattle. It has fewer calories, contains less cholesterol, and tastes less mushy and waterlogged than American meat. And the cows spend their lives out grazing in the field, not locked into some small pen. You can taste the joy.

My beard is shitty right now as well because low-ish density, but I've seen photos of people with longer, even less dense beards that still turned out decent, so I'm thinking it's just because of the intermediate growth stage where it's not considered well groomed anymore and not considered deliberately long and voluminous yet.

Tons more storage space. Had a tall tin container (about 1.5 feet deep) that slid almost perfectly where my airbox used to be, bit of wiggling and edge hammering. Old airbox had brackets for my fusebox and other random silver electric smooth thingies, so I had to drill new holes and re-bolt them back on. First small customization on the bike.

>WR125X

or

>WR125R

Both cost the same, I don't quite understand the difference other than the wheels.

I will NOT be riding this off the road.

So which one?

>inb4 get something else

No.
>>
>>17366386

If this bike will never see dirt, then get the road one.
>>
>>17366391

Is it bad to ride a dirt bike on a normal road?

Are the wheels worse?
>>
>>17366396
Generally the tires don't grip as well and the suspension is softer which makes for spooky cornering.
>>
>>17366401
but the wheels look so small, almost like a scooter. Isn't that a bit shit when riding on shit roads?
>>
>>17366386
>I don't quite understand the difference other than the wheels.

better front brake, stiffer/shorter suspension, smaller sumo-wheels.
>>
>>17366421
So the X version is a better choice?
>>
>>17366415
smaller wheels are lighter which leads to less unsprung weight (better suspension behaviour) and less gyroscopic effect (more agile cornering).

>>17366423
Yes

is it normal that i blow my fork seals yearly?
on my last set of forks, after i bought the bike in october, i had to re-do the fork seals in the spring. then in a crash i bent the forks, so i got new forks and put on fresh seals in them. now its almost a year later and they are leaky again. is there a way to make my fork seals last longer besides stopping riding like an ass? maybe heavier fork oil? lighter fork oil? idk

A friend's wife is a nurse and says summer is just full of people who have crashed their bikes with shorts/t-shirts/flip flops on and its just horrific.

Kek, you guys should see Brazil.

In here squids are the norm. Just about everybody will ride with sleeveless t-shirts, pants/shorts, flip flops/bare feet(not even joking) and all of that.

My countrymen do it because:

1 - Brazil is a hot country.

2 - Riding gear is expensive.

3 - Huehuehue.
>>
>>17367155
But the speeds most Brazillians go isn't that high.
>>
>>17367058
Because the price goes up with those. Also it may not be a valid reason but i don't trust them.

+1 until you crash

what i've started doing is packing a dry shirt, and soaking my other one with water before i put on my mesh jacket, it only lasts about an hour but its so nice for that hour
>>
>>17367354
Dress for the crash, not the ride.
>>
>>17367350
The key here is to not be a total scrub and crash.
>>17367358
When I lived in Oregon I could soak a t shirt, freeze it, and it would be bone dry in about 10 minutes. Humidity and 100+ temps suck.

I don't dress for the slide. I'm more likely to get hit and hit other objects than sliding.

Anyone have a good way to get two sport bikes in the back of a truck securely?
>>
>>17367665
Like to get them up there or to strap them down?
>>
>>17367665
roll one up the left side of the bed, put the kickstand down, and let it sit for a second as close to the edge as you can, repeat with the second bike, but this time all the way to the right, then ratchet strap everything down nice and secure
or, alternatively
>drain all fluids
>disassemble bikes entirely
>throw the parts in the bed of the truck
>cover with tarp
>go to destination
>re-assemble bikes

Have to pay for college and rent now, but my gpa will be high enough to get reimbursed all of my tuition from a scholarship, so I can probably bite the bullet then and trade one or both bikes on top of another 8k or so for a new xsr or used super tenere or something

Good starting bike, but it has a really boring engine and the footpegs are way too low, they scrape on highway on ramps.

You'll probably drop it, that's why people recommend not buying new for your first bike.
