I hope you know what your doing m8. Lac is good shit but you have to listen to cure times it suggests. I hope you got a respirator cause you really dont want to breathe it in. Also for clearcoat remember to use lac or enamel as acrylic clear is weak.

Thoughts on a 1995 Honda Passport 140k?
>>

Honda conducted some focus group in the US and found that people here don't want back seats if they're too big for them. Interesting that they left college students out of those surveys because they'll make anything work.

Not really a Honda to be honest. I think it's made by Isuzu? Get a CR-V if you want a Honda SUV.

So I just encountered some guy in a 2017 2 door SI today. The SI is manual only right? We took off at the light and I seriously doubt this dude has much of a clutch left. He was shit shifting so badly I swear i saw clutch smoke and I heard the engine hit the limiter from my car. He didn't use VSC so he spun his tires ALOT to my surprise.

I beat him to the next green in my EX-T CVT, I'm both surprised and feel bad for the tiny italian looking dude who fucked up his clutch.

>>
>>17250144
I haven't used my rear "seats" much either, but I did cram myself back there a few times and can confirm it is very tight. Even if your legs fit, your head will not unless you lean sideways and forwards. A good alternative to the CR-Z is the Fit.

I'll probably own a Honda at some point, but right now I'd like to finish my AE101 and wait until I have more room to store it.

I went there with my best friend and his EJ9. He fell in love with the BB9 Prelude there, and ended up buying one on our way back. We stopped there on our way back from NL to put a deposit, then we went back home to get the rest of the cash, and drove back another 1h30 to pay the rest and pick it up.

Doesn't matter what the guy said on the phone. If you modify a car to add seats to non-factory non-dot non-nhsa approved locations your insurance can and will cancel your policy and not cover you. If a passenger gets injured they can also take you to civil court over it.

It would definitely be a parts car. It'd be a headache to try and restore it due to rust and other stuff.
The seats were in amazing condition, but the whole inside smelled like cigs.
Guy said the transmission linkage is broken, but he said he got it in gear by messing with it. Didn't seem so great.
Overall the seats and engine would be nice, but it's probably not worth the effort.

Yeah, it will also probably need struts fairly soon if they weren't replaced already. Also, he has a fucking subwoofer in the back that I might just take out. I don't listen to music that needs it to sound good.

It might, that car looks a little low in the rear, give the back area a bounce to see how worn they are, knocks a few shekels off the price.

Literally why? It's there, and is gonna give you that low end punch. Unless you wanna tear up the carpet and take the amp and wiring out with it, just keep it in.

As someone with an 06 Coupe that wanted to buy an 08 Sedan EX. Please do not spend that much money. Its a 10 year old car. My 06 Coupe is worth $2000 CAD and the EX I wanted to buy was $4500. The EX was super clean with 90,000 miles.

Find out if the block was ever replaced, if not, you're entering mileage territory where it might fail. See how well it grabs in second after a hard pull, some I've test drived didn't like to go into second or stay in second. Check struts/shock absorbers, although shouldn't be a problem at that mileage. Engine mounts, bring a breaker bar and try to lift the engine. Check if the AC works, check to see if coolant is leaking or sweating from the block, that is if it hasn't been replaced.

At the end of the day, $6000 USD is alot for that car, as clean as it is. Also, that shifter has more wear on it than mine with 200,000 miles.

ALSO, how the hell did it fail an emissions inspection...

Hope this helps.
>>
>>17256364
Maybe it failed because it was sitting on the lot for over a year?

It also had the clutch replaced at 750 miles which is kinda weird.

So I'll go at it for 4-5k or no deal then?

Also I'm a benchracer, how can I tell if the block is failing/close to failing?
>>
>>17256415
>>http://www.bayridgehonda.com/vehicle-details/2008-honda-civic-coupe-2dr-man-ex-brooklyn-ny-id-16855905

Oh god, I didn't even see that. That poor car. Its very tough while the engine is in as it can fail in three different places, two of them being in the back of the block facing the interior of the car. If there's coolant on the ground while its parked or there's crack's developing on the front of the block you can tell, but the thing with that problem on the R18s is that it can happen at any time or any place, or never. The good thing is, theres a TSB that covers it 10 years from date of purchase, so in this car's case, February 2018.

Even at 4-5k I find that's alot, but having looked at prices in Chicago, Orange County, and New York, the market is super inflated on Civics as compared to Canada.

>TSB that covers it 10 years from date of purchase, so in this car's case, February 2018.

So can I have them fix it for me?

Also I thought those basic civic engines were bulletproof? you're scaring me anon.

Was really hoping this would be good because it's the ONLY manual at a dealer in my area and my parents aren't letting me buy anything off craigslist because of "scammers"
It's my money but they're nuts so yeah
>>
>>17256487

TSB 10-048

Google that anon.

They will fix it for you if it develops that problem by February 2018. If it doesn't and the block cracks later, your SOL.

My 06 had it happen at 150,000 miles, my friends 07 hasn't had it happen to him at 160,000 miles, and the one I wanted hasn't developed the problem at 90,000. It's less likely for it to happen, which is why I'm staying away from 06-07s, as it they won't be covered by the TSB.

Not everyone feels the way I do, but it's enough for me to not buy a car due to having the possibility of changing the engine.
>>
>>17256533
Fuck this is scary then
if the previous owner was a retard (going by the shot up clutch at 700miles) this could probably have that problem

damn
so even at 60k this is still a big risk?
Would it be expensive to do if it happens after 2018?
>>
>>17256309
I listen to thin stuff like this: https://youtu.be/f1BJITyRQ8s

How would music like that benefit from a sub? I'd want to fold the back seats down for storage for when I move, can it be moved to the side?

>>17256320
I mean I'll check hard braking, warm it up all the way and check for oil leaks. But what else should I do?
>>
>>17256611
All you have to do is unclip the wires from the sub whenever you need to use the trunk. If you still want the bass, which I guarantee you will, then investing in a 5 dollar grill/facing the sub towards a wall, will solve your problems.

>Listens to Rush
>Doesn't want to hear Geddy's bass playing properly
Son...
>>
>>17256611
Take your hands off the wheel and see if it pulls, then hit the brakes with no hands on the wheel and see if it darts to the left or right, then you'll know you've got bad pads/calipers

That dude's EJ8 looked pretty mint and he wanted $3500 for it, so it's gotta be in good shape.
>>
>>17256646
I suppose a decent speaker setup would be nice, I use a Sony MDR 7506 for most listening because poorfags live in apartments. Can I mount the speaker somewhere in the cabin area for convenience?
>>
>>17256686
A sub isn't made to be put in the cabin, if that's truly what you're asking. Even if that sub is a mid-grade sub, which is appears it is, then putting it anywhere that people can see it is a sure-fire way to get your car broken into. I mean, you CAN put it in the rear, but if the owner set it up properly and amped it well, it's gonna be overwhelming 2 feet from your head.

Like I said, those wires on the right-hand side can simply be unclipped when you need to use the trunk for storage. Just make sure you turn the amp off and wire the ends with electrical tape after you take it out.
>>
>>17256713

But yeah she lost her license because of some ticket somewhere. Neither Mississippi or Louisiana knows where it is. She should have probed harder and got it taken care of when she had her tax money this year. She's not even covered by my insurance if she wrecks or gets pulled over because I have no license number to put down.

Still scared, though.

I'm gonna try to clean my engine block tonight. Gonna hit it with that Gunk engine degreaser and blast it with the pressure washer at the local car wash. Then I'll swap the header finally.

I bought my civic off of my aunt, apparently it has some after market immobilizer system in it. From my understanding it'll either be expensive or a pain to remove thanks to the spaghetti mess of wires.

Any suggestions?

The Activeon CX (base) was a step up in picture and video quality, but not saving my video and picture settings when turned off, not turning on when powered, refusing to charge when recording, no auto overwrite, and harder to use UI meant that ease of use was very low. I would not recommend the Activeon because of this and will be returning to my Akaso EK5000.

Might get pretty cheap in the future as the gen gets older and more aftermarket parts are available for EG swaps. B16A still seems like the better deal though since it includes the transmission and all accessories.

The L series are going to be cheap until someone figures out how to put them in something, then you'll see the prices go up. In the mean time they are too wide at the top to fit into most old hondas with sloping hoods.

B series is still cheap and gud, just getting old and machine work costs money.

>>17268360
You can do a pan swap to fit most seats. As far as direct bolt in goes you're limited
