People were having legitimate conversation and there wasn't name calling, it was productive. They're talking about the DLC and cars, how much more can you say about the centerpiece being a shitty model and expecting to pay money for it?

TS040 = R18 > P1 GTR > Celica (model sucks but hopefully it's atleast fun to drive) > MC12 > VLN TT > the rest

Honestly most of the hype for the LMPs is purely because of the possibility that they might be used in OVGTP.
The MC12 would also be higher if there were GT1 cars from the same era (Ferrari 550, Aston DBR9, etc). As it is right now, I guess it's there to compare it against the earlier generations of GT1 with the Mclaren F1 and the Porsche 911 GT1

It sounds pretty good but the only sim I can currently think of that has them is Automobilista and we probably won't use it because of trouble we've had in the past with similar games like rFactor or GSCE.
Yes, Automobilista is more stable but personally, I've still had lots of issues with the game crashing randomly. It's an alright game, but just way too overpriced

>>17218989
There's really nothing that exciting to me about most of the iconic cars people get hyped for. The MC12 could be a ton of fun or at the end of the day it's another modern GT car. People too often conflate the idea of a car with the technology of a car.

Your reply does not follow explicitly from the question

An audience exists for /ovg/, this audience could be on /vg/ and follow suit with the rest of the generals, but it resides in /o/. Is there a history of why it's on /o/ only instead of /vg/? It wouldn't make sense for it to fall off to page 10 if it doesn't here, because there's an audience for it, unless there was some sort of drama way back in the day that caused you guys to migrate it to /o/.

Uh, sounds like your clutch pedal is miscalibrated, honestly. I don't get that sensation from either game.
The manual transmission simulation has been solid as fuck for a long time. I don't know of any stock vehicle with enough power to burn its clutch when engaged except the dragsters when coupled to the base manual transmissions. With the Stage 3 superchargers in those, you need to go to the tuning menu and increase the clutch torque manually.

Personally I didn't have a problem with installing but it seems to be a common problem. Can't confirm if this solution actually works:

>start the setup
>open task manager
>right click and then click "Go to Details"
>find the setup.exe, right click on it, choose "Analyze Wait Chain"
>close all processes that are in that list

Then, there's a modern patch made by a guy that also made a similar thing for NFS 3
https://rejzor.wordpress.com/nfs4-patch/
>>
>>17221778
Oh hey this actually helped. It didn't automatically launch it afterwards, but it did ask me to try Win XP compatibilty mode, at which point install did show up but failed because it wasn't 95/98. I tried Autostart again normally with 98 comp like I was before, but this time it actually worked.

Thanks anon!

Quick question about Dirt Rally (noob)

When you subscribe to a tuning setup from the workshop, and you load it up from the pre-event menu, are the dials supposed to reflect the change the tuning setup made, or is it just applied without it showing you the specifics?

I ask because I'm on the Linux build and tuning setups loaded from the workshop don't seem to move the dials from their default positions, so I'm thinking they're not working properly.

Already tried multiple workshop tunings but since they're similar and I'm a noob I guess I can't tell them apart.

honestly i want a game with more realistic racing with penalties and such but i can't tolerate a game that ships with no content and doesn't deliver on what i was hoping for. the main reason i bought assetto was for the mod scene, but very few of the mods i tried that i would have really liked worked.

when you're faced with a game with shit content, mostly non-working mods, lack of in-depth car modding/setup (would it kill them to implement fully featured suspension adjustment?), a terrible server browser, and basically all multiplayer servers having 150+ ping, what's the point? i'll take an old console sim which may not be as advanced but at least gives me plenty of content and variety

>and doesn't deliver on what i was hoping for
What? a garage for your hard earned cars?

>the main reason i bought assetto was for the mod scene, but very few of the mods i tried that i would have really liked worked.
How come i already know you bought it for drift mods?

>lack of in-depth car modding/setup (would it kill them to implement fully featured suspension adjustment?)
Find a single sim that does what you are talking about. Also, how would you adjust the springs on the fly on a road car? Sims are about you getting better, not making a better car out of pure grind.

>and basically all multiplayer servers having 150+ ping, what's the point?
Well, not my fault you live in a shithole.

>i'll take an old console sim which may not be as advanced but at least gives me plenty of content and variety
Enjoy your 50 shades of R34.

Convince me not to get Dirt Rally, /o/. It looks fun.

Its pretty hard. It doesn't have a lot of content either

Its worth it though

Don't drive with assists on.
Buy a decent wheel if you haven't already.
Turn FFB down so your wheel isn't shaking off the desk and you can actually have a firm grasp on the wheel.
Dont drive F1 cars or anything lightning quick unless you want your soul crushed.
Learn one car in one game, don't be retarded and install 50 mods and 100 tracks.
>>
>>17229781
and like GTA:O catch up will be enabled by default

ABS and TCS makes sense for some cars to have on.

>>
>>17229791
Not him, but 2bh I find F1 cars to be some of the easier cars. They're fast, but they drive like a got damn videogame.
>>
>>17229796
i'm a shitter so i might be wrong but imo it's super hard to feel the amount of grip you have with abs on. one little wheel lock and you know exactly where the limits are.
>>
>>17229816
imo F1 cars are tricky to drive fast because of the aero. In mid-high speed corners you need to push beyond what "feels" possible. Kinda counter intuitive.
>>
>>17229821
i'm a reasonably quick shitter and I feel that ABS lets you focus on cornering, not trying to get a muscle memory to avoid locking up in the braking zones.

>>17229523

Not only that, but you can get a cheap entry level wheel for the price of a pad and unless you need a pad to play other games they'll do fine.
