>>
>>16968098
I need to change dif fluid.
How do i check it?
>>
>>16968159
It's the same as the trans fluid for civics. Just unscrew the fill bolt and put your finger in there. It should be reddish in color
>>
>>16968098
Do these tend to shift hard normally? I've mostly driven Mercedes until now and you can't even feel the shift compared to the few civics I've driven recently which shift a bit harder. No idea how the pilot is supposed to feel when shifting
>>
>>16968292
It should shifts noticeably but smooth and it shouldn't jerk or feel like it's shifting too fast when you step on the gas for it to down shift and up shift.

>>
>>16968650
Plastidip actually works even better for this.

You also retain the rubber feel
>>
>>16968949
I might paint it again at some point so I'll try that next. I didn't do enough coats so it peels a bit. I need to work on a lot of my black bits like the wiper arms and the rocker panels. Might go ahead and do the ducktail spoiler in black too since the "carbon fiber" is fucked on the top from all the sunlight. It's perfect on the bottom, though.

Fuck it, do the badges too for muh black and red theme.
>>
>>16968970
My advice with plastidip is that you should do 1 layer much thicker than what you would do with spray paint. Then, walk away and let it dry completely. It should be perfect

It's really easy if you don't overthink it and let it level itself

Yeah rust isn't a thing here. Any cars with actual rust are usually from the north. I bought a Jazz. Got a check engine light when I left, had the dealership take a look. They reset the error and told me it was related to a gasket or throttle body and the check engine light might return.

It has returned but the car drives fine, save for a terrible noise when the engine is cold. Is this a common issue and/or quick fizz on the Jazz?

Hey guys, liftoff oversteer guy from last thread.
I never posted the video cause I was kinda embarrassed, looking at it from my dashcam it definitely wasn't as hektic as it felt... Like at all.

>>
>>16974691
I mean desu I'm noob as fuck at the whole driving thing. I'd just never encountered it before, and it happened while I had the clutch in (why you didn't hear the engine til after) so I like had a mini freeze moment and kept the clutch in through the turn. Probably not smart but atleast I know what not to do now.

Post CL ad

If fenders or nose panel are broken its going to be a lot of $ to fix. If you just want a yolo beater then go for it. But talk him down from 1k
>>
>>16974679
Honestly looks fine. Did you clutch in and hit the brakes as you were turning? Doesnt look like lift off oversteer since you werent going fast, maybe just shifted weight up front while turning and slid a little
>>
>>16974875
Exactly as I remember it
>long straight, get lazy, hit 5th gear so I'm going over 50 mph
>see turn in point late, 4th gear, ~40 mph
>push clutch in, go to throw into third, enter turn, panic, keep clutch in, throw around corner, slide a little, correct
>clutch out, asscheeks unclench
I'm guessing had I actually kicked out more I wouldn't have been able to recover with the clutch in, correct?

>>
>>16974898
Depending on how fast you were going and how aggressively the weight shifted up front combined with your steering angle, you couldve spun the car out. But if you're going 40 mph odds are you'd be fine.

Do your braking and downshift ahead of time so that the weight is settled before you turn.

>>16974911
It's missing the trunk spoiler (so itll leak) and the side light up front (which is going to be like 50+ bucks)

If you just want to thrash it then I guess go ahead. But check for rust near the torsion bars and panhard bar.

That cars rusts through the floor usually

I think they should both be the same d16a1 as long as it's stock. I'll probably just pass on it though, since my lack of knowledge and skill would probably put me in over my head.

My autotragic teggy has been doing pretty well since I changed out the fuel injectors though. I still have an odd timing advance problem that I have a half baked theory about now; the acceleration has been kinda jumpy lately, and I'm thinking either the fuel filter or pump is to blame. My theory is, maybe the ecu is advancing the timing too far to deal with shitty fuel delivery? I'm not even sure how much control my ecu has, since it's 80's tech. I guess changing the fuel filter can't hurt anyway though, so might as well.

Besides looking at civics, my friendo told me he has a mk1 miata just chillin' that his family wants to get rid of maybe. From what he's told me it sounds like it'd need a rebuild on the engine, so it'd be a pretty big project. But I could get it for super cheap, and it'd be an ultimate meme machine :^) /blog

>Replace bearing
>Fix hand brake
>ECU
>Adjust ride height, move spring perches to the higher position on the Konis
>Head unit lower, get cup holder
>Fit fat ass tweeters in the doors
>Tint as dark as legally possible

The hardest part is getting started for me.
>>
>>16982328
Oh and I still need to install the fog lights. I really want to see them in action.
>>
>>16982328
I need to see about fixing my handbrake. My car almost rolled backwards on a steep driveway because I didn't pull it all the way
>>
>>16982328
Well obviously you need to get the wheel bearing done ASAP

ECU is a pretty straightforward deal and doesn't require taking your car apart

Everything else is kind of whatever in terms of importance.

I still need to get new tires, not sure yet but thinking yokohama S drives in 185/55/R14 but I feel like they might be too skinny.

Other than that I need to recalibrate the fuel gauge and then I'm basically done.

I'm considering wrapping the interior plastics that go on the pillars and the headliner in black alcantara or something like that.

I guess I'm just running out of stuff to do that isn't major bodywork or turbo
>>
>>16982351
I just gotta get a new pin for the driver side. I'd love to make it fully functional though. Even before I lost the pin it was only good for parking and not actual emergency braking.

>>16982364
Yep waiting on the stuff for the bearing. Wish it would show up on Sunday but shipping is being slow as fuck.

I had Dunlop Direzza DZ-102s for a long while and loved them. Only reason I stopped using them was because I drive way too much to be paying all that money on tires. Westlakes are a much better option for me right now.

Would buy another set as track tires or something though.

Oh yeah I need to calibrate my speedo needle. I did it in the old Civic by taking the needle off and putting it in the right spot while going around 60 on the interstate using GPS. Kek

So I just took off the EGR-valve to clean it, turns out they installed a metal plate which inhibits the function of the EGR. Removed it, but the check engine light persists.

Also noticed a rattle on cold start, it might be the timing CHAIN. The costs of replacing these run around 700 yuropoors. I attatched a picture of the metal plate.

I sent a pretty angry e-mail asking them how they're going to fix this. It's pretty suspicious that I didn't see a check engine light or heard the rattle during my test drive.

Fucking hell, not even dealers are to be trusted. I just wanted a reliable, ugly and slow shitbox that had low running costs safe for regular maintenance.

Send help, fuck people.

Iz gud kar, but I gotta tell my mom to check the coolant weekly and fill it with water. Just bought some eBay inner and outer tie rods to see if it will fix the highway vibration. Was reluctant to spend money on a car I don't drive myself but I'd rather it not break down.

I just hate that the door handles (inside and outside) are made up real cheap fragile plastic. They break all the time. Not as stronk as Honda ones.
>>
>>16987231

it's a 1989 DX. It's been swapped with some random civic motor, I think it's a D15Z1. Missing some interior pieces, and windshield is cracked.

But the redeeming quality is that it has literally no rust anywhere.

It needs work to be complete and comes with an extra transmission.

We agreed on 1000, which to me is about the max I wanted to go on it. I figure if I sell off the tranny and extra ECU I'm into it for maybe 750-800 which isn't too bad. Have to look up what wheels those are but it might be possible to sell them and pick up some stock ones and make a little money.

Probably just throw about 1000 at it making it look nice and sell it
