Turn 1 can be massively abused, there's a significant amount of leeway in the corner cutting detection that means you can pretty much make a beeline for the entry of turn 2 and go off the track with no penalty. You should be able to get under 12 seconds for S1 doing this cut.
And that's pretty much it, all the other "cuts" are slight, like in turn 2 or turn 6, and both of them risk unsettling the car.

There might also be a small advantage to be gained by brushing the wall on the exit of turn 7, among other places, but it's very risky and rFactor physics might just decide you became wall and send you into space.

I left Dustin's house a week before it came out. He says it's good and we usually have the same opinions on sim content. Our driving styles are identical, but he's smoother on throttle application whereas I'm smoother on the wheel. I will try it when I'm out there to test in a month or so.

Hard to say right now since I didn't get to spend much time with it. I've been on Dirt: Rally so getting back on strict tarmac took a little readjusting. Been a little bit since I've played Driveclub so can't make a good comparison.

Sound design is much better, detail in each car is fucking astounding. The driving is tight and responsive, but i was getting sick of the forced assists on the qualifying laps for Sport Mode.

It's locked automatic and locked brake assist (probably for a benchmark among all skill levels) but you can't carry any speed because it keeps braking for you.

This mod has some major issues that most mods don't. I've had cars somehow get corrupted on me and not been able to be read by rFactor for reasons unknown, possibly filename length but never bothered to try. Needed to unpack the car files because the mas was messed up. Some of the skin packs or new cars have caused issues. They shouldn't and normally don't, but this mod is broken. If I have the Ultimate GT3 mod selected when I shut down rF, then the next time I boot up I have to delete anything referring to it in the top of the plr file if I want to run rF again - otherwise it never starts. Joining the server, the models don't load for me unless I have UGT3 series selected, and then before I quit rFactor, I have to set the series back to All Vechicles to be able to start it up next time without having to change the plr. I've tried reinstalling and had the same issues.

The Dark Souls of racing games is more appropriately an actual simulator like rF, though iirc in Xpand Rally you could actually injure or kill your driver.

F-Zero GX is also notorious for being fiendishly difficult, Whiplash's highest two skill levels are utterly misanthropic, Episode 1 Racer wasn't exactly easy, and of course there's the Extreme G series which has always had new challenges for players every game, resource management and ridiculous velocity. There are so many racing games that are actually more difficult to play, it would be more apt to say Dark Souls is the Richard Burns Rally of fantasy action RPGs.

To compare a racing game to DS like this is really silly and shows a monstrous lack of experience with genres outside the reviewer's comfort zone as well as poor journalism, because they're all basically shilling From Software's game in a review about a completely different title.

Should i better spend my money on rFactor 2? i have no steering wheel and i was planning on playing with the mouse. If rFactor 2 can only be played with a keyboard and it doesn't control that well i am going straight for AC. But i kept hearing shit like "no rain driving, no night driving, shitty netcode, shitty AI, no changing colors, worse physics than netkar pro" and so on that i really feared that it would be a waste of money.

rFactor 2 is OK, but it has a very big problem. There is barely any good content. It does have some good things to it and probably the best AI out of all the current sims, but I still wouldn't fully recommend it right now. Maybe at a sale, when Studio397 somehow convinced more modders to make good content for it.

It's alright. Nothing too special. I have never encountered any of these bugs where the AI flies all over the place or does other really strange stuff but then again I don't drive against AI in AC very often. When I play Singleplayer in that game, I usually just hotlap.

There are two ways to setup a server. The most common one has the cars pre-selected by the admin, and therefore the colors/liveries are pre-selected. There's another server method called "Booking", where you reserve a spot on the server in a set time before practice starts. With that, you can actually choose the color of your car and there's no limit on each type of car like in the other method. We're probably gonna use that for the OVGTP series, but for spec series in AC it would be too much of a hassle to use Booking mode

Well, me neither, but the fact that their inferior prequel game with less budget and content could pull out (non dynamic) rain driving and make it look amazing (check netkar pro rain driving) makes AC look fucking lazy IMO. My Summer Car is all about customization, but number of parts is pathetically small. Street Legal Racing is also all about customization and choice of parts is enormous, but driving physics are pants on head retarded. That being said, building 700hp+ engine feels nice even if all you can do is drag race with it.

I assume you're talking about this red part on the 488 GT3 which isn't on the template. To fix this, copy the metal_detail.dds from a default skin and recolor it to whatever color you need.

As for other cars, IIRC the metal_detail does different stuff depending on the car so you have to experiment with that
