I'm gonna look in my ECU and find out tonight. Though I have no idea what I'll be looking for. I'll start where the IACV wire plugs into it.
>>
>>16930910

The ELD is actually part of the fuse box, not the ECU.

If you want, take the lid off of the ECU and take some pictures and I'll see if anything looks fucked up
>>
>>16930935
I know I replaced the fuse box at one point but I can't remember if it was before or after the spark. My old fuse box had a stripped screw holding my blown battery fuse so it was easier to swap the whole thing since my buddy had one laying around.

This is my first Honda, it's a 1995 accord with a H22A in it. Wiring and stuff is all sorts of fucked up, I didn't do the swap. I'll post a couple pictures of the car, my intent was to get it mechanically sound and as stock looking as possible, do you think it's worth my time? What have I got myself into? I have another car and bought this on a whim because it was cheap.

/hg/, I'm in a bit of a conundrum and I want to get some opinions from you guys.

I just inherited an 09 CR-V LX with a little under 80k miles on it. It's been maintained perfectly, driven by an older family member since it was purchased, and has never given me any issues whatsoever. I've got a friend who owns a CR-V of the same year who's up to 140k miles with no issues whatsoever, so I'm pretty confident in the reliability of the model, and I know it'll get me from point A to point B consistently.

Here's the problem: It's boring as all fuck to drive, it gets mediocre to shit gas mileage depending on whether it's being driven on the highway or in the city, and the interior is pretty lackluster and uncomfortable.

Resale values on this year and trim CR-V seem to be hovering around the 8-10k range depending on mileage and such.

Here's my real question: Would I be a complete fucking retard to sell this and hunt down a different Honda or Acura that'd be a bit more fun to drive? Additionally: I don't have the knowledge to wrench, but I hear that older Hondas are a good place to start, and I'm pretty interested in learning.

tl;dr: Should I get rid of my reliable but boring 09 CR-V and find a Honda that's more fun to drive and learn to wrench on?

Deciding how I should go about making a kill switch. Fuel pump fuse? Fuel pump relay? Spark plug kill?
>>
>>16933853
any of those are good except instead of spark plug, just do a kill switch to the ignitor power coming from the ECU (Should be A21/A22 if you're running OBD1 if i recall correctly)

alternatively, just extend the wires for the main relay and put it somewhere where you can easily unplug and take it with you.

One other thing you could do is set up the main relay so that you can disconnect the ground at will. This will make the car crank and have spark but it won't start
>>
>>16933853
Fuel pump relay is common
>>
>>16933874
I was thinking about the main relay too before you posted. It's what I would do.

I'll give that a shot if I can't find one. I bet my buddy can get his hands on one for me pretty quick. I'll probably just find any basic VTEC one since I don't really plan on racing anything anytime soon.

Yep been with Pizza Hut around 2 and a half years. It's a great way to learn manual. I forced myself to bring my hatch days after I bought it and learned pretty quick. Stalled a ton, though.

The money is great but varies store by store. I make enough to pay all my bills easily and have some left over for car mods, computer stuff, or video games.

I spend maybe 20 bucks estimated every 3 shifts I work. Running around 6 cents a mile according to my MPG log. It helps that gas prices here are hovering around $2.00/gal. PH also pays me 24 cents per mile I drive but not all places do that. I average lately about $280 per week with five shifts so around $45ish for gas.

somebody forgot to tighten the battery tie down (not me) and the battery was able to short itself against something. A little scary but at least it happened when someone was driving so it didn't burn to the fucking ground.

The driver side pin fell out so it only grips the passenger side and it barely even does that. The hand brake was always weak from the start so I've just been parking in gear. Would love to have a strong hand brake though for skids.
>>
>>16943208
I'm surprised that my Chinese tires have been great so far. No punctures or leaks. I had terrible luck with my expensive Dunlop summer tires where I'd get a nail or screw in them less than a week after getting them. Too much stress driving on those tires, though they felt amazing and gripped so good.

I still have one of those tires under my bed in good shape. I need to sell it or something.

I think drums have more effective handbrakes compared to discs. I know the drums in my old Civic had a strong as fuck handbrake but I never needed it because it was auto. I remember doing a 180 degree spin trying to use it on a curve. Glad nobody else was near me. kek
>>
>>16943247
drums are strong for a couple seconds but are aweful for bringing you to a stop unless your mostly stopped to begin with. my civics auto i use the handbrake too much cause hard turns on the road i drive to college.

Yeah as far as raw stopping power with the pedal my hatch is way better thanks to the Integra brake setup. I just need to work on the handbrake and it'll be perfect. I already overhauled all the pads and caliper pins so nothing is seized up.

The weird brown stuff from the first pic definitely feels oily compared to the coolant.

Added some more coolant because I wasn't sure what to do. Looks like a bunch of oil spots though.

Also, the coolant overflow bottle is full of this brown crap.

Damn I hate customers. Though in my friend's case he went from one of the worst Wal-Marts in the area to a pretty good Lowe's. His store was the one that sold the Isis flag cake back during that whole Confederate flag bullshit. So yeah that store is a disaster and they're talking about shutting it down at some point.

Can I replace the gasket by myself as someone who doesn't have any experience? I can follow directions well, but I've only recently started owning a car so I have no prior experience.

Would it be advisable to go to a shop and have them replace the gasket instead? I'd rather not spend too much money.

I wouldn't mind the work if the music played over radio wasnt a playlist of the same 40 some shitty pop songs. Christmas time we had some good easy listen stuff like chicago and mariah carry.
I have a friend who might be able to hook me up with a small garage hopefully. Otherwise I'll just keep applying to places closer to me. Going 17~ miles for a 5 hour shift is very 'meh'

if you've disassembled anything before, a head gasket is not difficult.

The most important step is putting it back together in the right order while properly and evenly torquing all the bolts, for which you simply need to google the proper torque specs and buy a decent click-type torque wrench.

Three guys walked up, two stood in front of me and one next to me while I rolled my window down. He told me they wouldn't let me in, followed up by telling me to take it to a car wash. Sure, it was dusty from the garage, but not caked in mud. Although there are some shitheaps that made it through like pic related which sparked a huge debate on Facebook. The Veil Slide RX-7 was turned away because they filled up so fast.

It boils down to me not knowing how high caliber this event was. Website says they open at 8, and getting there at 7 didn't cut it. Only way around it is to get there by at least 6AM if you have a car that isn't show car immaculate, or if you know the guys who let cars in.

I do know the trans was repaired at some point. I remember him telling me he nearly got evicted paying for the trans repair. He only got rid of it because he got his own store and had the money to pick up a new Altima Platinum.

So I bought back my 92 hatchback and now it's in pretty rough condition.

I was told that the trans blew while he was driving it, and that's all I can gather from it so far.

Things that are happening: The clutch is not engaging but returns to position. I am able to shift to different gears but there is no power going to the wheels. Axles aren't broken. Drained the fluid to find there isn't any pieces of metal pouring out. There was probably a quart of transmission fluid inside. No leaks from the master cylinder or the slave cylinder.

I am lost and I miss my civic pls halp
>>
>>16946251
I guess you'd have to start off by pulling the transmission off and see if anything between that and the engine is still intact. I was gonna say maybe the center of the flywheel that bolts to the engine separated from the outer part but then the car wouldn't start. This happened to the flex plate of my auto 93 Civic sedan.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JtE4eOYZVPk

Maybe the clutch just fell apart? I'd definitely pull the trans off and look there first.
>>
>>16946265
Yeah I guess i'm just trying to convince my self I dont have to do all that.
>>
>>16946274
Yeah it's a pain. Good thing is you only need basic tools to pull those tiny transmissions off. You got nothing to lose really since it isn't driveable anyway.

The guy you got it back from probably drove it like one of those typical Hondafags.

Hi was hoping someone could help me figure out what parts I need in order to have adjustable front camber to about -3 degrees for autocross?

I'm looking at Ingalls and I know I need these two things: https://www.ingallseng.com/ik90449-control-arm-with-ball-joint.html and https://www.ingallseng.com/ik90448-control-arm-with-ball-joint.html but do I need anything else? What about these: https://www.ingallseng.com/35700-35710-camber-adjusting-control-arm-mounts.html

The rest of the suspension is stock.

Best thing to do is get upper control arms with sliding ball joints. Much easier to work with than whatever that is.
