It looks very similar to the Civic EM2, how's the part interchangeability? I know the front seats fit in with a little work, and since my driver's belt is broken I wanna get an RSX pseudo-bucket seat to get rid of the shitty EM2 headrest.

that's a pretty big RSX meme, actually. Because it kinda is a civic but it's really not?

pretty sure civic type r / recaro seats fit into RSX's but they're a little expensive because >type r recaros

Check honda forums online if RSX seats will fit into the civic? because leather RSX Type S seats aren't expensive at all.

I have dine that research. One rear bolt hole needs to be drilled larger or something. I'm curious about suspension, I figured the Integra would have a better setup than my LX. I wish I could find a Civic SiR, but they're so rare around here, the few people who run them bought all the broken ones for parts.

Suspension, i have no idea. I have no idea how compatible they are.

k24a2 crank arrived - looks super clean. Came out of a TSX with less than 60k miles on it. Gonna send the block off to the machine shop to get decked and have the crankshaft balanced/checked for problems. Seller I purchased from has a very high rating and stated it had already been mic'd and is balanced, but I'll sleep a lot easier having it double checked, especially after fedex handled it

Going through honda's estore to pin down all the part numbers for the stuff I still need to get - i'm pretty close to having everything though. Hoping to have the block fully assembled by the 21st, complete engine assembly by the 28th, do the swap 29th-31st, then crank it on April fools. if it blows up, then I guess it'll at least be kinda funny kek. Hopefully not though. Pretty excited about this build, desu.

My EG hatch got totalled by insurance company for a mere 10 inch dent on fender!! Don't even have the option of keeping the car so in market for another honda. Has to be a 2 door, manual hatchback.

So...help me choose.

99 EK asking $2700 boxy, plastic headlights
95 EG asking $2800 my fav, 158K km
02 SIR asking $3500 Black colour :( 292k km
11 CRZ asking $11000 Too expensive but Only 37k km

Pic unrelated.
It's pretty simple once you get through the first one. Get wet/dry sandpaper in the following grits:
320/600/800/1000/1500/2000
This ran me almost $50 because nowhere near me had them all in stock, I bought it off of Amazon.
Strip the clear coat, clean thoroughly. Start with 320, wet sand down as much as you can. If there are machine lines be sure to sand them down so it looks nice and even, and don't focus too much on one spot. Go in circular motion, all that good stuff. The 320 will take the longest time, but once it's nice and even wash it off and move on to the next grit. Do the same thing, but now you're buffing out the scratches you just made. The process repeats itself all the way up to 2000 grit, at which point you grab some rubbing compound and buff the living shit out of your wheel. Then put on some aluminum polish, buff it off after about 10 minutes, and wash it off again. If there's marks you missed, you can go back to 320 at any point and work your way back up. Once it's nice and shiny, clear coat that bitch and hate yourself because you're 4 hours in and still have three wheels to go.
To sum it up:
>Start with the lowest grit, get out all the bad scratches and oxidation
>Wash the wheel off
>Move up a grit, buff out the scratches you just made
>Rinse and repeat (literally) until you get to the highest grit
>Inspect, get any big scratches you missed with 320 and work your way back up in that area
>Buff rubbing compound on
>Polish
>Clearcoat
And bam, you've got a fancy looking wheel.
You got this, Anon. Music and caffeine help a lot. If you need more detail ask away, or there are several write-ups online for this.

Owners like that seem to keep to themselves. All the Honda guys I talk to have amazing cars that I'm super jealous of and I base my decisions on my car on theirs.

So I've been having this issue with my 1990 Integra LS for a while now.
It's been temperamental to start (turning over but stalling out immediately), and lately it's been idling really low when hot, around 400 or less, almost stalling out.
The weird thing is, whenever anything electrical is applied the idle revs even lower.
I'll also mention that the battery is standard and is also powering a large amp and double sub. (I know it needs a batterypack)
Already ordered a new main relay, needed one anyway. Could this all be related to that, or related to the battery?

Dramatically improved my starts today. I think I had my fuel filter torqued too tightly, and the timing was also way out.
Idle still sounds like shit:

Should I be worried at all?
>>
>>16804879
Kinda sounds like my Corolla. Turns out it was corroding spark plug wires so I changed the wires, plugs, cap, and rotor. Check that stuff.
>>
>>16804893
Man I've already changed those except for the rotor. I think it looked fine when we checked it too. I know for sure that my vacuum advance isn't behaving how it says it should in my service manual. I'm not really sure how to fix something like that though.

yeah it's been a mystery. I would be difficult to explain my vacuum advance problem, but basically one of the lines is advancing it double what it should according to the manual. The line is just kinda connected to the intake manifold, so I'm not really sure what to troubleshoot. Maybe I'll just buy a new rotor and pray for the best :^)
>>

I agree with Shingu. If it still idles kind of rough I'd replace the air filter

I actually tested it with the filter completely out, and it still misfired like that. My filter box is pretty shit though, it's only held together by like 1 screw as the others are all stripped out.
My idle was damn near perfect when I first fired it up after replacing my injector seals yesterday. Makes me wonder if one of them is just kinda bad. My first cylinder injector had a small crack in the plastic housing on the tip actually. I dunno how bad that is though. I regret not taking any pictures now.

Dude with the 3rd gen Prelude that likes to spit rocker arms out here again with an update.

So I had finally got the car all back together right. Got it inspected, registered, new tires, new front rotors, new brake master and fluid all in the few days before I was gonna drive it at a local HPDE event.

Well, morning of the event, all wet and foggy and shit ass crack of morning, I go to turn on the car and the fucker doesn't want to start. Kept cranking and eventually hear a little metal rattle. Instantly know it spit the rocker arms out again.

Motherfucker.

Take valve cover off and find that it did spit them back out but we also find out why, the valves are either bent or have a bunch of gunk and make them stick open. In the photo you can see the giant gap between the rocker and cam because the valve is stuck down.

I have gotten too good and taking all this shit apart and was able to get the whole head ready to take off in just a few hours. One of the bolts on the bottom of the exhaust manifold rounded off and you have to get that damn thing off to take the head off so I'm just working on getting that off and then work on the head can begin. Should be able to work on it this weekend.

Also if anyone remembers my dad got his 08 Civic EX running again, cracked block and all lol. We slapped it all back together, cleaned the radiator of all that glass shit he put in and he's been driving it around with no problems. Haven't gone on any long trips though so we'll test it out this weekend also. I'm trying to convince him to buy a wrecked Si so we can swap in the K20. /blog
>>
>>16805378
Hopefully you can fix it. I know that's a pain in the ass.

Just finished my rear brakes. All lubed up and should be quiet on my test drive. I found a new surprise from a previous owner though. Noticed the bushings in my rear Blox camber kit on the driver side was far more worn than the passenger side. That's when I found out why. There's only one bolt holding on the trailing arm to the body of the car. Torqued the remaining bolt and will try to find one tomorrow. Hopefully my buddy has one somewhere. He did cut apart two EG coupes so he's got at least 8 bolts.

Fucking Puerto Ricans.

Could a faulty oxygen sensor be causing Shingu's eg idle to dip and recover?

Just a thought.
>>
>>16807326
faulty o2 will throw CEL and itll run rich

You can try another one if you want because o2 sensors are pretty cheap, but probably not going to do anything.

Most idle issues are going to come down to the usual suspects

iacv
fitv
needing to purge coolant
using wrong ecu or wrong ecu map type

that sort of shit

Occasionally you can run into problem like brake booster having a messed up diaphram or bad sensor

i dont remember what shingu has checked already so cant guess
>>
>>16807326
I actually don't have an oxygen sensor yet. I need to pick one up but I don't think the EG harness is compatible with this stock EK header. The bung for the sensor it way at the bottom end of the header by my test pipe. EGs normally have it close to the head. I'll have to pick one up and try it.

The idle was good at one point though.

>>16807348
IACV is new, didn't change anything.
Don't see a FITV on this D16Y8 intake manifold.
Coolant is all good, used a coolant funnel for it.
ECU is a possibility. Still need to get me a tuned P28.

I did notice a line running from the brake booster to the intake manifold was secured with a zip tie last night so I put a proper clamp on it. It does seem like the weather plays a big part in it. Maybe the humidity? I couldn't stop it from bouncing unless I turned on my AC. It goes back to bouncing when the compressor turns off.
>>
>>16807364
Maybe you're already implying this when you said something about the funnel, but some of the thermostat housing have a bleeder screw to bleed air out. If you have one of those, try bleeding it. Air bubbles can affect the IACV's operation.

Is it fluctuating only when it's idle? Is it stand still idle only or is rolling idle also affected?

ECU probably isnt it but you could try it. Typically you run into idle issues if you are using the wrong codebase for that ECU. (For instance, a P28 with a P72 rom flashed to it)

Here's my guess:

The IACV is contributing too much to the idle speed. The idle speed is affected by how much the butterfly is held open via a screw or on some D series a little metal tab. Secondly, the idle adjustment screw. And finally the IACV.

If the butterfly isn't being held open very much, and the idle adjustment screw isn't letting in a lot of air, the IACV can work overtime to keep the car in the correct idle range. However, since the IACV is a solenoid the operation is erratic and can cause bouncy idle.

Get the car to operating temperature. Reset the ECU. Unplug the IACV. Start the car. Get the car to idle at ~650-700 rpm using the idle adjustment screw and the butterfly adjustment only

Once you do that, turn it off, plug in the IACV, and reset the ECU. Don't touch the throttle for 60-90 seconds and you should notice it idles a lot better, as more of the idle is coming from the butterfly and screw and less is dependent on the IACV

Hopefully that makes sense. Otherwise i can diagram it

I'll give that a shot later. Here's my current idle. It hasn't bounced at all yet so far. Maybe that zip tie on the hose was doing it? I'll keep an eye on it during my shift.
