I'm considering buying a C4 but this is why I like driving my Miata so much. Just in day-to-day driving you can push it to 100% without doing anything too illegal.
But then you get out on the highway and you're turning 4K in 5th gear and you can't hear the person next to you.

No, just your average drive in a GM product.

>4 speed auto
>technically a GT car
>drives like a Go-kart
>even though it has a 16 second 1/4 mile, flooring it feels like you're going really fast because the torks pull hard, doesn't feel like a 200hp car at all in anyway.
>19 city 23 highway
>put around town at 1000rpm (mad torks)
>OD 4th gear lets me cruise down the highway at 70mph at 1500 rpm
Driving a slow car fast is 1000x better than always having to drive a fast car slow.
>>14328193
>boring as fuck aside from the 3 seconds of getting up to freeway speeds
This is my life...
>>14328560
Get a 1984 C4, has the same transmission and engine as my '82 (>>14328710) with 5 extra horsepower and all the improved weight and handling benefits that come with C4s.
Just don't expect to "upgrade it" aside from maybe the exhaust system and that's it. The "Crossfire" FI is a long forgotten system with a nonexistant community/aftermarket. The stock intake manifold is 100% fucking garbage and even if fully ported to the max it's still total fucking shit.
If you want a slow car to drive fast an 1984 Corvette is the perfect choice.
>>14328738
If I get a C4 it's not gonna be an '84. '85-90 probably. Same price, better engine.
>accelerate up to the speed limit for fun because I can

Not hard to believe. My 2006 Mazda3 with the 2.3L was turning about 3200 at 120kph. Considering the Miata has some cuckish piece of shit sub-2 liter engine in it (isn't it like a 1.6?), it would be screaming on the highway.

>>14328868
Having more torque allows your revs to rise faster. Torque is literally the rotational force applied to the crankshaft. The more force you have the faster it can accelerate.
>>14328767
I've always wondered about this? Can anyone confirm what the law actually is about this? Does it vary by state? Are you safe as long as you don't burn rubber?
I like to floor it from stoplights if I'm bored, but I fear police attention.
Although my car is so slow that it might be okay. (crown vic)

this is why i am not modding my dunnydoor over 300rwhp 500nm
anything more is just excessive benchracing.
has a theoretical limit of 250km/h that i cant do without going to jail (ausfailia) and i spend most of my time pissing around backroads at 160ish
i had it at 230km/h once before i modded it and it feels no faster than 120.
corners > straights
muscle touge
driving a 200hp car fast is more fun than driving a 400hp+ car fast because you can only really use it on the track on straights LLONG straights

yeah, a cuck with some benefits at least. I have to take my car to the dragstrip to really enjoy it. That only gives me 6 months in Oregon out of the year when the track is dry enough. Then you take it real hard if you want to enjoy a full trackday to the sound of 2-300 bucks and have to request time off during the week to work it in.

Lol, 1.5L hybrid here. Cruise 65 at 1500-2000 depending on wind and grade. 75 is about 2500 rpm.
And that's before it changes valve timing, I can play with it and get 75 at about 1900 on flat ground but it's less efficient power (lower mpg)

It made 314 horsepower with catless downpipes on the mildest tune on pump gas. I just added a catch-can to the vehicle and I plan on upgrading the intercooler. When I do I'll run a more aggressive tune.

Probably at least that at the crank
Here's a shitty phone pic of a crumpled dyno sheet. The cool thing is making over 300 lb-ft of torque at only 2500 rpms
