God damn I love 90s Nissans.

I love those fucking headlights. Everything about that car screams aero to me.

op butt mad he got beat by a 300 in his miata
>>
It looks better than the 350 and 370
The TT is almost just as fast
It was produced 20+ years ago and has a timeless look while the 350 and 370 are already dated.
It handles extremely well for a car of its size
>>
>>14300825
lose the ricer brake ducts

To be honest it looks like it should have had popup headlights, but for some reason they were edited out of the design at the last minute.
>>

If not faster then the 350s, I have beat a few 350s and G35s in my nightly modded Z.

>>14300970

>>
>>14301101
e85 is basically a stand alone ecu that can be reprogrammed. You NEED it if you are going e85 if not the car will run like garbage. If you are going to modify a car, you need an ecu (well an old car). What part of the US are you in? I know Dane at Houston Z is the main fucking man for nistune. It will be good up to like 900whp, then you will need to look at haltech etc.

>>
>>14301019
You know about Corner 3 Garage?
>>
>>14301254
Pistons are wiseco 0.5mm oversized
For the hell of it here's all the big stuff
-Howe oversized radiator
-Z1 "massives" 2.5" intercoolers
-Z1 2.5" intercooler piping
-oversized oil cooler
-nissan stanza 60mm throttle bodies
-port matched plenum for throttle bodies
-top feed fuel rail/injectors (can be used with ethanol e85 also, and the haltech can run normal gas, e85, or any mixture ratio of the two. Automatically corrects the maps to handle the octane change)
-aeromotive fuel pressure regulator
-aeromotive 340lph stealth fuel pump, in tank
-wiseco 0.5mm oversized pistons (forged)
-all seals and gaskets replaced with OEM nissan hardware during engine build
-AMS oversized exhaust manifolds, heads port matched.
-GT2860rs "disco potato" turbos (z1 gt675 kit)
-z1 3" downpipes
-3" to 2.5" midpipes (no cats)
-2.5" specialty Z catback exhaust
-z1 single piece driveshaft
-5zigen wheels
-13.5" front rotor kit, brembo (uses stock calipers with brackets, 03/04 mustang cobra rotors)
-z1's best front control arms
-powertrix street coilovers
-SPL best rear upper control arms h
-Alpine head unit, alpine amplifier and speakers. Two rockford fosgate 12" subs in custom boxes in the rear. Nothing flashy/cheesy. Amps are both hidden from view.
-specialty z "high 5" clutch and lightweight flywheel
>>
>>14301270
Nope, what is that
>>
Why does /o/ get salty when it comes to Z32s?

I can't wait to see VR30 swaps.
>>
>>14301283
Not bad but honestly the Z1 intercoolers are garbage. Ash Spec is the way to go. z1 intercooler piping is hit or miss. Some are POORLY cut, some are fine (they rub on other shit). NEVER USE AMS (the canadian one) THEY LITERALLY fall off the car. They use SHITTY Chinese metal and STEAL everyones designs. They have a lot of hate in the z world and are GARBAGE parts.
>>
>>14301299
Because it's a really great car for the price and can be a fantastic tuner. All of 4chan likes to shit on popular stuff because it's the hipster thing to do or because they know that starting a thread with "X sucks. Your opinion on X is shit." will guarantee replies.
>>
>>14301329
Ash Spec's are e x p e n s i v e
>>
>>14301339
they are. But when it comes to intercoolers, they are worth it. You can find them used.
>>
>>14299109

>>
>>14301292

>>
>>14301347
Thanks for the tip anon, I wouldn't have given it a second thought otherwise

I'm thinking of keying up the boost from 19psi closer to 25-26 soon (the GT2860rs tops out around 28) and cooling was a concern
>>
>>14301356
This is good news
Great news even
Any clue how much?
Have you bought one?
How long might it take? (3-5months)?
>>
>>14301283
Looks good man. I can't make up my mind on parts, I am stuck between spending more and having it down longer or just doing more basic stuff and getting up and running sooner. I was originally going to do :

>JWT Solid lifter race package with Tomei solid lifters
>Twin GTX 2863Rs
> Dual fuel pumps
>Winfactory 1300cc injectors
>CP 10.5:1 pistons with 1200hp wrist pins
>Carrillo Rods H- beam with CARR bolts
>60mm throttle bodies
>Ashspec massives
>2.5 Intercooler Charge pipe kit
>ACL bearings 0.001 extra clearance
>MSP manifolds
>Full 3" SpecialtyZ exhaust
>Dual pop intake with Selin translator
>ARP Main and head bolts
>Haltech
>Ferrea 1mm over valves
>1 Piece aluminum drive shaft

Porting water passage, bullnoserd crank, tear drop shaped journal exit holes
I'm sure there is more I can't think of
>>
>>14301358
Be careful and make sure it's dyno tuned first. And on e85. But other than that, go for it.
>>
why does this car exist anyway

RWD skylines are better in literally everyway
>>
>>14301230
Ikr? To get a decent Z, you gotta look in the 90s. It's a shame the 80s ones are so weak, but just about every car ever from 76-90 are shit when it comes to power.
>>
>>14301376
Now though I am just thinking CP pistons with eagle rods (any input on eagle rods?) And the E85 setup with Nistune. I can always do the larger valves and cams later. I also have 4.10 gearing so I may have to change that as I get higher in power. I also need a new bumper and 2 fenders along with a paint job before I can get it up and running
>>
>>14301388
had to sell overpriced heavy garbage to Muricans that couldnt get Skylines
>>
>>14301376
>gtx
hhhnnggghhhhhh, oh yeah
everything else looks good. Make sure to get colder stage TT spark plugs. I don't recall the part number off hand but call Coz at CZP and ask him.

I may recommend the BnB exhaust. It's the best by far IMO.

>>
>>14301376

>>
>>14301403

When I'm on it, about 9-10mpg, but that's full throttle
Maybe 14-16mpg on 93 octane
>>
>>14301405

>>14301405

>>14301405
On 91 at the worst 13mpg but normally 17ish and that was when it was my daily and I did 120+ to and from work regularly. My best was 21ish
>>
>>14301426
>>14301400
So, could one of you two have the fastest/most powerful car on /o/?
>>
>>14301423
always. If you are hitting 90% duty cycle it's time to upgrade. Check it while driving (or under load). You should be checking it with every significant upgrade to hp. after 550 whp you will need a better fuel pump.
>>
>>14301447
Will do
Car was tuned at current setup in October
Not a lot of spare cash ATM
I'll probably stick with what I've got for now
>>
>>14301442
A long time ago I posted some 10sec time slips of my daily (before I had a shop). I have many high HP cars at my shop, that I own (well my shop technically). Next project may be a turbo vette or viper. I don't post a lot of that stuff here because /o/ is full of people who refuse to accept they don't know something and spout bullshit. So I don't share good stuff here.
>>
>>14301388
Are you gonna pay to have one put in a shop to have it's emissions problem fixed, plus any other things you might need to do to make it "legal" AND pay top dollar for it and to have it shipped from Japan? For the price you'll be spending, it's retarded. Also, in California more than others, if you get caught driving one, they take it and crush it. For the price, the 300ZX is one of the best tuner cars to get. Cheap, reliable, quick, and there are quite a few affordable upgrades you can do to it to make it just that much quicker. If had X amount of dollars to spend and imported an illegal Skyline, you could have used that money to get a Z, upgrade the shit out of it, and probably still have some money left over for dinner and the Z would blow the doors off the Skyline.
>>
>>14301442
When she's actually done I think she will be up there. I also plan on using WPC coatings, for those of you have not seen it check it out.
>>
>>14301466

Not to out your identity or anything, but does your shop have a site or something to follow your builds?
>>
>>14301469

I haven't found anything about this lately. I live in cali, but the street racing 2fast2furious craze is over. Young people don't even like to drive anymore.
>>
>>14301466
Also, follow up
How did you start your own shop?
I'm getting into a different line of work, but it's always been a dream of mine
>>
>>14301476
it does, I have never posted it here. never will. Don't need a bunch of bitter weebs blowing up my page and bothering my customers. It's a well known shop, not a top 10 in the US or anything, but I see the name mentioned online from time to time by randoms.

One anon about 4 years ago figured it out because I accidentally posted a pic from my shops website.
>>
>>14301466

Why does the Camaro exist if the Corvette is better in every way?
>>
>>14301488
I did. I worked a high paying job for years. Browsed 4chan in college (and never left). Got SICK of the corporate BS and used the money to start a shop. It's been running for a few years now. Have a handful of mechanics. A partner. And a shit load of awesome stuff (like dynos, custom parts made for us, custom tunes etc).

For the first two years I lived off my savings and invested everything back into the shop. My partner brought a TON of existing customers and I brought the cash.
>>
>>14301505
Nope, cuz the second I do that, you will know the shop. Sorry man. But just know I always give the best advice to you bros I can, mixed with personal feels.
>>
>>14301480
I'm 23 and I love to drive. They still do crush them, though. I haven't heard of any lately, but I know that, here in California, they crush them more often than other states. You may be able to get away with it in other states on the east coast, but when a cop stops you, you have a 14 digit VIN he can't enter into his computer, a model he can't find in his data base, and a likely chance that he may take it. Some cops may be cool about it when they see you driving in the "passenger" seat, but others might just be assholes. Honestly, if you want a Skyline GT-R, your best bet is to just get an American GT-R, but they are so fucking expensive that it's not really a car for a regular guy.
>>
>>14301519
How much to do the rod bearings in an s85, I'm thinking about buying an m5/m6.
>>
>>14301535
Always take that kind of work to an engine builder. We out source that kind of work because the proper equipment is EXPENSIVE. Most shops do that, and we don't hide it. We get a discount for sending a ton of work over, then we can give the customer a bit of a discount instead of going direct. Everyone makes a little money, customer gets a warranty and top notch work.
>>
>>14301519
Are you me?
I'm going down the same path
Just accepted a full time spot in a high paying corporate job that I hope to work for a few years and then peel off and start my own shop once I have enough money and a solid business plan

How are things going now?
>>
>>14301526
I understand man, good luck to you and your shop. I think I would enjoy working at a shop with friends and on my car more but I need to learn more but always worried I am gonna fuck something up. I have done some of my own work on my Z but don't think I will install my rebuilt engine, I just don't trust myself.

fantastic. I don't spend a lot of time there anymore honestly. I am working on buying another business. I stop by weekly and check in. I still play with the cars. I go late on the weekends and fuck around with my buddy.

Make sure you have the customers FIRST. I recommend becoming STUPID proficient in ONE car and working on them on the side at your home. Then once you have a bunch of people lined up, rent a shop space. Buy TWO lifts minimum (we fucked up and started with one). They run $1-$5k installed depending on used or new. Then prepare to LOVE office work lol.

So?
It says the 300zx TT requires more $ in maintenance. It's older so it cost more. Big deal. And maintaining a turbo is going to take more maintenance. More parts to maintain doesn't = unreliable. It just means more. And that also doesn't mean tards cranking it up to be "lol fast" makes it unreliable. It makes it an abused car. The 350z's were popping manual trannies like candy when it came out. The o-rings blow out. The auto is garbage. The electronics go to shit and it's barely 10 years old.
>>
>>14305794
>>14305745
This. They are very reliable as long as people actually keep up the maintenance. I have seen plenty of TTs that are running fine over 100k miles and N/As even more. Guy I work with has an N/A with almost 200k on it and it still runs fine.

I do like the R33 as well, so if found one in midnight purple that wouldn't drain me completely I'd consider purchasing it.

Even if I don't go to Japan, I'll end up buying one at some point. The point of an R32 for me right now was the ability to bring it back to the US and drive it without having to wait a few more years or have the fear of it being crushed.

Crashed cars most likely, or with serious damage.

Sup faggots

How bad is the automatic? An auto RHD TT is going to be $4k whereas a manual is twice that. Is there any good reason to spend twice as fucking much on the manual?

I'd rather not swap it so if I'm going to build it I'd be going with a built auto. It's a GT car with a torquey v6 so I figure the auto is fine (also it'll keep boost between shifts = aayyyyy)

I have other manual cars so the fun part really doesn't bother me that much. Mostly just gottagofast. The power thing is a bit worrying since it appears an upgraded auto runs about $2k + S/H and that's with a stock converter.

>>14306636

Alright, I'll look into that

I mean I could look for a wrecked salvage one and an auto and buy both, but that would probably be approaching the cost of the factory 5 speed car too.

I'd rather not swap the engine since buying a decent one seems to cost more than buying an entire TT/auto with a blown transmission does. Also it'd always be an N/A body and I imagine (although I have no idea what I'm talking about so correct me if I'm wrong) it probably uses different rear end, transmission, gear ratios, and suspension ratings

Have you ever owned an older foreign car that wasn't just a run of the mill econobox?
You're really going to trust them with random shop or dealerships that have no experience?

Mechanics can fuck up, and some the good ones will just outsource the work to a specialist anyways

He worked at Nissan at the time and they even sent him the Z32s. Hes early 30s late 20s and he finally went full time on his shop.

Holy fuck that is sexy. Sounds gud too.

Since it sounds like there are a bunch of Z guys in this thread: how long will it take the stock turbos to pop if you run them at high psi? Is that a generally known fact for Z32s?

For example if you run a stock twins 1JZ at 21+ psi it will pop almost immediately, the turbo seals are shit
>>
>>14306864
They come at 9ish stock I want to say. I ran mine at 14 for 10k and they just started taking a shit but hey they had 136k so not bad in my book. I think there are to many factors but they are useless above 15 or 16psi I believe. Just crank it to 14-15 and enjoy.

The R200 (N/A) and R230 (TT) have different final drives, however the transmissions are the same in both. For drag, the R200 is used because the final is 4.08-4.10(?), but for DD purposes the R230 would be the better rear to have with the driveline.

The VG30DETT is about 1500 bucks from Japan, or at least it was when I looked. So expense wise that would be a hit. Now, you could turbo a VG30DE because they're cheap when they come out of the J30 (usually less miles), however you lack rod squirters in the N/A block.

Shit, I even toyed with the idea of a VQ35DE swap because wrecked 350zs are cheap. A guy with another matte yellow Z in the Des Moines area (copyin' motherfuck) has a 6 speed in his Z. I have no fucking clue the write up on that, but it was a TT with that 6 speed.
>>
>>14306939
N/A is 4.08 TT is 3.69 I think, I have 4.10s in mine and love it. I was told stay away from the 6 speeds from the 350s.
>>
>>14306939
The NAs have squirters, they actually squirt more but they are at a different angle
>>
>>14306977
Are they a glass transmission? His 300zx looked exactly like mine, just with the superior engine and manual trans.

If it wasn't apparent that I didn't mod my Z, my did have the 4.08s stock diff. I didn't actually mind the highway drive with it. That TT I drove last year was comfortable with the tall diff too, though I've heard it's better to swap in the 4.08s and 4.10s.
>>
>>14307010
Yeah heard they had glass trans. It depends who you talk to some say its better to be in boost longer but I felt a difference with the 4.10s
>>
>>14306886

Good to know, thanks

>>14306977

Just out of curiosity, what sort of RPM would a stock TT with 4.08s run at 100kmh/60mph in the highest gear? I have to do a lot of highway driving (as in, it's a 30 minute drive for me to even get gas lol)
>>
>>14307026
the cd009 that came in the 350z is really really strong. I put it between a r154 and w58. the cd008 is the "glass" trans you're thinking of and even then it was fairly robust.
>>
>>14307069
You can do the math on a site for the exact answer but I know I would cruise around 3k but I also have different tires and would never do 60 haha
>>14307080
I have not had experience with the 350z trans I just had a lot.of guys tell me stay away from it.
I know Bane was running a stock trans on his 900whp Z
>>
>>14307129
I'm still in research phase for the q45 for which trans to use. I really like the tko500 but pricing is keeping me from pulling trigger on that. the cd009 with collins adapter looks like a good option IF you can get a trans super cheap. both the cd009 and t56 both suffer from unknown conditions. throwing it in the car and making all the adapters to find out the trans is garbage or worn out doesn't sit well with me. tko500 looks like a better option every time I explain it to myself.
>>
>>14307129

3000 is what my current car cruises at, so I can deal with that. (Although it's a 2L but iirc the Z32 has a similar enough redline)
>>
>>14307163
My buddy has a T-56 magnum in his Termi and that trans is sweet.
>>14307171
You may want to do some research to make sure but I don't remember it being bad, I still could take it up to 150 no problem.

Bump for the bump god.
