I think all you weebs misunderstood this show. It wasn't about how the toyota corolla is the fastest car in the world, it's saying that the 86 is shit but if you're a good enough driver it doesn't matter what car you race in.
No its about RWD being the best and only through the magic of RWD can you have the truest form of racing
That's why we should all buy 30 year old cars to DD , because they're RWD and therefore the best
That's the true Takumi spirit, to shit on all cars that are not RWD coupes.
At least I think that's what the show was about.
Im pretty sure everyone understood that
>later corollas were better than the ae86 in pretty much every way
>Most models now used the front wheel drive layout except the AE85 and AE86, which were to be the last Corollas offered in the rear wheel drive or FR layout
Seems inferior in every way to me.
>he could've said "understated"
>he said "shit"
The fwd corollas are better though... Much better.
Even the fwd ones made directly after the AE86 were better
AE86 has its own league because it was the go to shit box racer 30 years ago and they want to experience nostalgia
No shit. Drivetrain shitposting is largely shitposting, like GT-R vs. Corvette and benchracing. The remainder is done by no-car bus cucks.
>talks about FWD Corollas
>posts an AE111
I'd give my left nut for one of these.
Saw one of these in Jamaica, though it was in shit condition. Looked breddy cool. Everyone there is the supreme ricer. Even taxi minivans have fart cans and their drum brakes painted red.
but he lost twice to awd, the superior driving platform.
He lost once to AWD and that was because it was his Dad. You missed the point nignog. And no, the engine blowing after he drove out there after being cucked is not a loss, Kyoichi.
lmao whatever helps you sleep at night.
>FF understeers under acceleration
>front tires have to brake, turn, and accelerate and thus get worn out faster.
>Under acceleration, weight shifts to the back, away from the drive wheels causing wheelspin.
Deny all you want rofl.
>it's saying that the 86 is shit
Compared to everything else in the series yes. On it's own it is a good car. Fucking Itsuki had an 85.
>plus Bunta meticulous maintained and modified it for the time he owned it
We don't really know whatever voodoo magic Bunta did to it before the 20v swap etc
Initial D is a show about an amazingly talented driver who wins races despite having the odds against him due to his outdated car. Every other scene is people mocking the car and everyone keeps being surprised when he's able to beat FDs, GTRs and whatnot with his shitty Hachiroku - it's actually annoying how much they hammer that point home. When people buy a DeLorean you assume they're just really into Back to the Future so why the fuck do you think it's any different with Initial D?
>why the fuck do you think it's any different with Initial D
because the car was already popular before initial d. there is a world outside of burgerland and people older than /o/ posters
I was talking about people who bought an AE86 specifically because they fell in love with it while watching Initial D. I'd buy one myself, but they were never sold in my country (no, not even as Corolla GTS) and the only one for sale atm is a worn-out looking 1984 Levin from someone who claims that it was hand-signed by motherfucking Keiichi Tsuchiya and with only 38k miles on the clock. But even if that was true, which is semi-believable cause it's an import from Japan, he's asking $ 13k which means he can get the fuck out as far as I'm concerned. [image related, the actual car in question]
>what i say about something is fact because I say so, pay no attention to all the evidence to the contrary
Economy doesn't work that way. Objectively the AE86 is a slow shitty shitbox that SHOULD be cheap. But because it has a reputation all over the world and the fact that it's rare (JDM only) bumps the price. One man's trash is another man's treasure.
Import fees is what kills you
Here in Bongland you need to pay VAT (20%) on your import. So that £5000 Trueno is now £6000 before you even get to registering it for road use and pay all the taxes in there.
You pay 20% VAT on all car imports in the UK, and then 10% import duty on top of that. Registration isn't too expensive but since the car was manufactured before the tax changes you pay based on engine size, which is only 2 bands, one for tiny pisspot engines <1.5l and one for everything else. On the plus side its old enough that you can find classic insurance for it making that cheap as hell.
Most AE86 sold in the UK that I see are Levins of either kind of Trueno booters, and theyre all 5-7k, more for truenos. Kinda retarded since for similar prices you can get clean ones from Japan even after paying import duties.
America has it much better really, atleast the USDM AE86s are basically identical to the JDM counterparts
No matter how much of a driver you are, you cannot drive beyond car's capabilities. Initial D is basically shonen fightan but in auto form.
>ay dagumi dis GTR is da toughest opponent you ever had
>no it's actually this RX7
>no it's Lancer
>no no, it's actually the same AE86 you have
And yet it attract a huge fanbase and people pay up to $10k for a shitbox from the '80s.
ever read that manga where bunta rapes poor iketani and nakazato and keisuke have a secret relationship? don't judge people so easily
thanks for reminding me of my 4:30 fap session
I still can't find English subtitles for the second new Initial D movie.
>watching movies on youtube
We had 2 ae86 as paddock bashers on our property, they were pretty good for drifting on our dirt track we made. Eventually ran them over with a 4wd once they broke down, had no idea what we had at the time. Probably could have sold them for thousands
You rack diciprin
The greatest man make mistake. The sharpest dagger still requires the skill to deriver it, the dullest knife may stirr defeat said opponent.
signed, man who was beat by worse car. He did. We were racing in traffic on a highway durring daytime. I was driving a 2013 camaro, it was 2013. He was driving some 2003ish bmw. We both hit a wall in traffic, but he somehow, he was going 140 mph but he slid through two cars with only about a foot away from getting hit. I saw this and I shit my pants. He beat me, I thought it was impossible. There was no way I would do such a risky move.
This is so true. I don't have video, but I will never forgot this for as long as I live. I am a failure as a racer. That bmw, you have balls. Please guys, even if you don't think this actually happened. This very well could happen.
