In my town they have a guy in a tacoma.

I've had to chase him off my property more than once, as he doesn't seem to understand the concept of private property and that he legally can't have the truck i've got on a tractor stand towed even if the registration expired two years ago.

Also, what is the law about "plain sight" and being able to trespass when there is a crime in progress? Don't know if the meter maids have that sort of power but maybe.

They're probably more active because 1st of the year means a ton of people's registrations expired

Also for the people asking about private property, no we can't tow or ticket cars with expired registration parked in driveways. Only if they're on public streets and -some- commericial lots

Not really, if the car is sitting on private property, they have to have something better than expired tags. The asshole in the Tacoma is proably paid by the car so he's just looking to line his pocket more.

I would record him the next time when you confront the guy and take that to a lawyer and look into harassment charges.

But his facts stand up. Couple Google searches say the same thing; registration is helpful if the ownership of the vehicle comes into question, and of course mandatory if you're on the road with it, but doesn't need to be registered to sit on a stand on your private property.

Exactly, it may be a shitty truck that once I dug into it to redo the brakes I found more stuff to fix, but it's my shitty truck and no one else can have it until I get tired of wrenching on it.
