If anything the cruze was Holden's half arsed attempt at a step in the right direction but it was to little to late. Holden died because they kept making 1.8 tonne v6 and v8 land barges while Mazda and Hyundai made 3 and i30's which nearly every household bought one of. Australians didn't want large cars anymore and Holden didn't listen. Just look at your average household now, you have a 4wd for family camping trips and to tow a boat, and then a couple of 4cyl shitboxes for daily driving. Only old people, fat people and v8 lovers buy land barges, they used to serve a purpose as they could tow the boat and fit the family..
