What defines a supercar?
What defines an exotic?
Is it Rarity? Price? Horsepower? Torque? Tech?
>everything must be in the correct category!
seriously though - would you guys consider an audi RS3 or an M3 an exotic or a supercar?
what about something like an RS7 or and S65 AMG?
These. The other day someone seriously tried to start a debate with me about whether or not fast food counts as junk food. No one gives a shit. Call them whatever you think is appropriate. Calling a BMW i8 a supercar won't give it more horse power.
even then what about the C7 Corvette Stingray? Is it just a sportscar? Would the C7 z06 be a supercar even though it's just a supercharger strapped on? What about the Viper and Viper ACR? Does country of origin define exoticness?
A supercar is a technology demonstrator showing the best that a manufacturer can do. It also is the first platform for what will be tricke-down technology.
That is why the BMW i8 is a supercar
But the SLS AMG is not.
This is a supercar according to Wikipedia.
Under this definition, wouldn't an 360 Modena be a supercar, even though it's Doug DeMuro status?
also, what about older cars that were once top of the line? Are they still supercars in the modern age? Vehicles like the Acura NSX, or the Mercedes SL600?
There's no set definition of it like there is for a roadster or coupe. You just sort of know it when you see it. I think of it as the sort of car that, when you see it, it makes your day just for seeing it

Feeling the need to compartmentalize and pigeonhole everything is literally a sign of autism. I'm not joking.
The world isn't so black and white. Thus such labels become meaningless and totally superfluous. Whether or not a car is a "supercar" doesn't change anything about it. It doesn't make the car any faster or slower. It doesn't change how exotic and different it is. It doesn't make the body any more appealing. The word is devoid of meaning.
Moreover, the term is completely subjective to the individual and the qualifications of "What makes a supercar?" is as vague and nebulous as it is varied. There is no official agreement of what defines a supercar further debasing the use of the term.
Anybody that tries say different is a filthy casual that probably watches too much TG.
TLDR: Don't waste your time on such silly ideas, OP.
Wasn't the Viper considered America's first super car? it wasn't bought or owned by anywhere near as many people as the vette (like a super car) also considered kind of exotic due to it being a V10 when most american cars never exceed 8 cylinders.
This, the Viper has always been more expensive than the vette and couldn't be bought by just anyone because it exceeded the affordability of the average american sports-car buyer. (at least i think)
Just my theory though.
it fucking is holy fucking shit
