Op of the pic here. You just gotta try one to know. The gotoh bridge, the locking tuners, the perfect plek setup, suhr noiseless pickups, it all just adds up to make a really really nice guitar. I personally think it smokes the american standard and american pro strats.

G&Ls are fucking great, and probably shouldn't be on that list. Their USA stuff is way cheaper than Fender for comparable quality, and their import shit is actually really good, since they use the same parts as the US versions. I usually think of G&L as one of the better value brands.

Been playing for 14 years now. My dad got my the Squier "Strat Pack" for my 13th birthday and I've been playing ever since. Pic related are the guitars I've had since then, from top to bottom, in order of when I got them.

I always get either Epiphone or ESP. I'm considering a PRS next, or an Ibanez. I want to branch out from heavy metal/hard rock and look more at blues guitars. Any recommendations?

>overly wheedly solo that doesn't really fit the context of the song
>can barely hear most of it because of the poor mix

I have no idea why so many people hype up that solo as an example of Prince's guitar playing. He was a fantastic player, but that solo isn't a very good example of why, it's not even very good. Those kinds of "lets get a a dozen guitars on stage and everyone can have a solo" performances never are. And why the need to compare to Petty in that clip? He's playing a 12 string and is obviously not there to do anything impressive, Prince is there to take a solo.
>>

tom petty is too based for cheesy wank solos. that guy has more hit songs than everyone on that stage put together

I always laugh when I see some dumb shit buy a cheap guitar and immediately start "upgrading" it. They usually start by asking for replacement pickup suggestions. It's like why, you dumb fuck? Why did you buy a guitar you didn't think sounded good to begin with? I'll tell you why: because you don't know what the fuck you're doing and you have no clue what the fuck you're after. You bought some retarded piece of shit because of how it looked in a picture on the internet and then when you got it home and actually played it ..it sounded and played like straight up ass. So you started "upgrading" it instead of admitting to yourself that you don't know shit and made a mistake, or that the guitars construction was so shitty that you didn't have any other choice but to "upgrade" it to make it a playable instrument. Here's the thing though: you could have just saved all the time and money you sank/wasted into "upgrading" a piece of shit and just bought a decent guitar to begin with. You bedroom warriors are a hilarious lot, watching you flail about trying to polish turds into diamonds. If a diamond is what you wanted why didn't you just go out and buy a diamond to begin with?

Because you're fucking stupid, that's why.

As a man who loves intricate, complex musical rhythms but has huge hands suitable for bass, should I cut my losses and switch to bass? I'm already well into guitar and I have a pretty good understanding of guitar and I've already done a couple pieces that include lyrics. Will I be missing out if I switch? Anyone know shit about wiring? I have a Fender Modern Player Telecaster Plus. I wanted to change the coil split switch to a neck on switch so I can have the neck and the bridge humbucker on together. I wired it up, but now when I turn the switch on, the ONLY pickup active is the neck pickup. Here's the diagram of my switch.

Here's the diagram I got the idea from. The difference is that my switch doesn't have a jumper from the last lug to the first lug on the opposite side. Could that be the issue?
>>
>>74981368
So you didn't follow the diagram and you're wondering why your wiring isn't working? At least try to do it right before asking if you screwed up.

I really need help anons.
I've been playing guitar for 3 years and no matter how hard I try I cannot play F, or a barre chord in general. I think there might actually be something wrong with my hands. I can fingerpick songs, transition between chords, just about everything perfectly, learn new songs easily, but I can't play F. I avoid any song with barre chords or I try to find a substitute. I cannot play F and I've tried every trick online. My finger simply will not bend the ways I've read to bend and I've actually practiced and pressed so hard until the strings tore skin and gave me six little cuts, but I still could not get the notes to ring out.

What the FUCK do I do?
>>
>all this reedit spacing

>>
>>74984418
Use a lighter gauge
Lower the action
Practice barring the 7th fret. Once you nail that, move to the 6th, and so on.
Do the above, playing the chromatic scale while barre-ing the lowest fret. Do NOT loosen that index finger. If it hurts correct your technique. If it still hurts after that, try again when it stops hurting

>>
>>74992990
Practice ear training. Start by searching for the matching pitch on the guitar chromatically. You should at least be able to tell if a pitch is higher or lower than another pitch. Use that "higher or lower" method to keep inching along until the notes match and there you go. Then you could do that with every single note in the melody, but it's much better to get familiar with scales and intervals so you're not just grabbing at frets blindly. Eventually you should be able to find the scale and the tonic almost instantly and be able to play any melody immediately after hearing it

There's a ton of ear training stuff online too, just look it up

Or you could learn how to do the set-up. There are ways of dealing with a stuck truss rod (if that's the issue), with washers/spacers probably being the most common.

It's not really a hard skill to learn, and the good thing about electric guitars is that most changes you can do are easily adjustable and reversible. It's not like on an acoustic where you need to start sanding things.
